I'm not sure if it's been brought up before, but could a means of inviting new participants to PMs be added? This doesn't seem to be possible currently (though I'm relatively new here, so I may simply be missing something obvious).
In addition to interest check threads, marking the RP as "Apply" or "jump-in",or - if you have had contact with them and have the feeling they might be interested - pinging them in the thread or even PMing them?

In the same vein, it would also be nice if there was a feature to remove oneself from an ongoing PM thread, as well as for the OP of a PM thread to have the ability to remove participants if needed/desired.
Things like that are planned and fairly high up in priority, as far as I know.

All this mention of coding is starting to fire up my impulsive coding soul. Now I'm restless and want to code some random stuff just for the fun of it. My heart's racing now just thinking about it... An Excel spreadsheet maybe (yey macros)? But I do have other priorities like documentation... Haaalp! I can't think straight anymore! =o
At some point during my early programming career, I decided that every new programming language I meet shall have my implementation of Minesweeper. Write Minesweeper in, say, any assembler of your choice... (Or don't; that might be a bit too much to swallow. Rather, try something ridiculously newbie-friendly, like Python, first. Or C++ with Qt, if you want a median difficulty - I don't know your level or prior experience, after all.)

Who hasn't disabled macros in their text and table editors, though, do it (but for very old versions, these should already be disabled by default). Macro viruses should've died lonely deaths a long time ago...

An announcement like form at the top or side of the RP would also be a good utility for the GM(s). Occasionally I know I have to refer back through the pages to find something that was important when there have been a few pages of off topic discussion. Having it pinned to a section that reoccurs on each page would improve the flow of information.
Wouldn't appending it to the OP already cover everything that is important enough to deserve "pinning"? It feels a bit superfluous.

Do you think I could address this issue then by implementing some form of Captain Jordan's suggestion of letting you easily clear all notifications for a topic while viewing that topic?
Mahz
To some extent, maybe. Not so much when I have plenty of the threads open as tabs (and scrolled to the last post), as I often do with the faster-moving ones. Now, if they just reliably disappeared when I was looking at the thread... But either they won't do so reliably or the poor server would keel over.

I found out recently that this is simply a bug in (IIRC) Chrome/Safari's underlying rendering
engine. (You were using Chrome or Safari... right?)
No... For me the tinytext in case of shorter inputs occurred with Firefox, too. Tinytext occurred whether or not device width forcing was enabled.
Forcing device width resulted in HUGE text on my cell phone that I could not scale down. As in two words per line huge, and several times larger than even my desktop monitor (which is a meter from my face, unlike my cell when I hold it) normally has.

However, since Shienvien painstakingly prunes the notification out of almost
every quote just to spite me, I may implement this feature is a user-preference if anybody
including Shienvien actually cares for it.
I'll sooner just use nameless quotes than flood other people with superfluous notifications. :P
While we are at it, a quote with the @ removed from before the name still seems to send the notification... (Something I've been especially noticing since the greyed out @-less quotes of my text still pop up as notifications for me.)
And yes, I still disagree on over/under notification. I as an avid patroller tend to find them annoying whenever I notice them after I have read the actual thread, and have to delete them separately coming from the thread (which is nine times out of ten). In turn, I'd like to just use notifications when I need to summon a person I don't know whether will come and read the thread without. Letting people disable entire categories of user-generated pings kind of negates the purpose of them existing in the first place.

Sounds to me like the guild's "remember me" function is not working correctly in
your browser. It's supposed to be setting a cookie with a far-future expiration,
but in your case it's apparently only setting a "session" cookie (an ephemeral
cookie that your browser forgets once you close the tab).
This still happens. (Ubuntu FF 38.0 as of current version, has been doing so since 36.something.) If I remember to I can try to hunt down the RPG cookie and see what it looks like on my end. Problem still hasn't occurred with any other site.
There are. Just not much to say.

- The introduction of this particular character still makes me think of a human character by the name of Xdagrun Akhanu Liathea Kitalras Ndijigi (from Xentheres Thauken Neji) obtaining a mildly sardonic smile, and stepping forth to introduce herself with her full name, as she's wont to. (Under normal circumstances, only people who are minimally close acquaintances are allowed to call her Dagr. If you can't speak full names, you otherwise just use titles in her culture.)
On another note, I am still not entirely certain how deigan (or other) words and names are really supposed to pronounce, save for pure assumption...

I'm also still alive. Just work and other things happened.(And I may have to sort my storage out a bit.) ASTA said he was writing Claw-post on Thursday, but got distracted by other people midway through.
@Jack: Right. I'll probably upload the new versions on the server a bit later, check with you whether they look fine, and link them to the site.
@Loud Angry Dead: Greetings, and let me welcome you!
Reading the entirety of the Compendium isn't a necessity ('tis more of a world encyclopaedia for you to look up things than mandatory reading material), though if you're just enjoying the content, feel free to read it all. (I know Jack's always impressed by people who go through *all* of it.) I believe Jack also intended to write a newcomers' guide to information you probably would need to know before creating a character...

@Jack - Which reminds me - since I've a free day tomorr- er, today, I might actually finally tackle that bizarre login-issue you have. (For me, for any device I have, the sessions are next to immortal. Both the one on my cell and the one on my laptop survived my several weeks of Austria, for instance, and when I came back the ones on my PCs were still there, too...) Until then, you could write out the introduction page (which has been been missing for a while) and if I can't get a working solution for logins today, I'll just run it up myself (as I can do with any other article you might have written up in between)...

Aw, but I tried so hard to ignore the question so not to make it overly obvious...
Well, to be fair, it was intended as a yes/no question... Thank you for the reply, though; my brain can admittedly be a bit annoying when it doesn't know how things work ... and even more so when it thinks it has figured out how things are, but wants to be certain.
(I do wonder whether said ally's dead now, though, or was this prevented; wondered before, too, but didn't want to make everyone else's - at least speaking of those who've been here for a while - quesswork too easy.)

And indeed, the Valderoth/sloth bit wasn't specifically a question as much as it was simply an observation and perhaps a generally interesting thing. (Though I admit, I was interested in your thoughts on the matter. A bit of discussion never hurts.)
Hmm, might also finally write up the bit about (my) gods I intended, though this'd be after I've handled the Compendium... Right now I may actually sleep, though.

@yoshua171, @Rhaevnn Xeno : Does either of you wish to post on Zerul side, or is it Merc's turn again? I asked him over Skype, and he wasn't even certain whose turn is it... Just might be one of those cases where everyone is mildly certain it's someone else's turn.
Time? What's this? I should be sending something in before Monday morning the latest, and I will have full days the entire next week except for Monday itself... (And that's excluding various odds and ends.)
Then again, I can't really do much, unless we decide to skip ASTA in line and post Aemoten/Iridiel/Etakar/Domhnall (pick Iridiel and at least one more, whoever of those is actually involved) first. I could bring up some old things, though... (Believe me, I've not actually forgotten anything. It's mostly a matter of having to actually figure out where everything is, or again, relevance and priorities... If something is needed, I'll most likely have it.)
- Right now I'm just glad to at least be back in my own house, to be honest; after spending so much time with the relatives from my mother's side (and I tend to connect with this side of my family much less than the father's side) the past two weeks, I somehow began to feel that I physically didn't fit in my parents' house anymore... Even my mother herself admitted that she's a bit tired of her own relatives, which is ... something.

Since Valderoth has been mentioned, I also recalled a random thought back in the day, which in return linked to something I had read even longer while ago. Namely, an author pointing out how far removed the modern Western definition (or rather, more aptly, depiction) of "sloth" as one of the seven sins has gone quite far from the original Latin roots, and how the Latin word acedia (?) originally referred to something much closer to mental laziness. ("Acedia (also accidie or accedie, from Latin acedĭa, and this from Greek ἀκηδία, "negligence") describes a state of listlessness or torpor, of not caring or not being concerned with one's position or condition in the world." says Wiki, now that I actually try to look the word up. The seven deadly sins article matches the same word to sloth, too.)
- I've gotten the impression that there is at least some inspiration from the seven-deadly-sins-sloth in creating Valderoth, and through that it associated, especially with how Valderoth has been described (which is actually very intelligent and also putting said intelligence to use, if solely for the sake of his personal convenience ... as opposed to simply not caring enough to think, which the original Latin definition would imply). By all means, it might at least demand some manner of respect, seeing someone display that level of genius* just to get out of something that, to an entity of his particular lever of power, should be easier (or at least remarkably easy) to simply do and immediately forget about...

*If you ever see me typing "genial" instead of "genius" where the latter is supposed to be as an adjective, then it is one of those cases where I know this is wrong and I've probably not proofread what I wrote. That's yet one more of those cases where some subconscious part of my brain decides that a language shouldn't work this way, and not consulting the conscious part of me...

Whose turn is it in Zerul? Mercinus'?

(...But, Jack. That demonspawn did make a brief appearance a while ago, right? No, I'm not letting it go. I found a solution to something, and now I want to know whether it is a correct one.)

*Notices that the soundtrack of Blitzkrieg has changed owners.*
I am half-inclined to try and find soundtracks for my own characters, but that would have be an exact enough match for it to be safe enough to say that I am not likely to find one. Save for me trying to compose something myself, anyway, but that would be delving into software or instruments I have no experience with... (Never mind time to experiment with. Especially time.)
Does anyone have any updates on our GM? Else I suppose we could have our characters interact some more (as there is no direct involvement of any GM-controlled entities at the time being)...
