I just played Omori, that shii made me change part of the story of a game I'm working on because I loved it so gosh dang much and wanted to take some inspiration from it. It also made me cry. A lot.
*The cloth sails through the air, illuminated briefly by the flickering light before vanishing into the darkness. A moment passes, and there is no sound of it landing. It's as if the void has consumed it entirely.
The silence is oppressive. Then, just as you begin to consider your next move, a subtle change occurs. The rhythmic clicking in the structure grows louder, more pronounced. It's as if the building itself is responding to your action. The walls seem to pulse, the surface shifting in a slow, hypnotic wave.
Suddenly, the void is no longer completely dark. A faint, almost imperceptible light begins to glow from within, casting eerie shadows that dance across the distorted walls. The light is not natural; it flickers and pulses, creating an unsettling effect that makes it difficult to discern the true nature of the space beyond the hole.
Your senses are heightened. The feeling of being watched intensifies, and you notices subtle movements in your peripheral vision — shadows that dart and disappear when you try to focus on them. The air grows colder, and a low, mechanical hum fills the corridor, resonating through your circuits.
As you watch, the light in the void coalesces into faint, ghostly shapes. They appear to be figures, but their forms are indistinct, as if they are only partially real. They move slowly, almost aimlessly, within the void. The sensation of wrongness, of being out of place, deepens.
Then suddenly, what's more unexpected, for a reploid, you wouldn't think you could cough like a flesh being, but you suddenly start salivating and coughing after the mist reaches you as if you choked on something despite not even needing to breathe... what is going on with this place?
But before you can put two and two together a sudden thunderclap is heard and you are pushed back as in a flash, the hole in the wall is regenerated entirely, while leaving the hulk of metal and circuitry on the floor where you dropped it, as if it just created more wall matter out of nothing. The mist has vanished and you stopped coughing.*
∆: Damn... What even was that...
Is this what death feels like? Pretty weird if so...*I think to myself.*
*I stand up from my position, looking over at the wall and questioning what this place is and why I'm here. I then look over at my missing arm, remembering the time when I had lost it, back at "home"... Well, at least this place is slightly better than that crapfest...*
*As you cut through the electronics, causing a brief shower of sparks, suddenly there’s a soft hum as hidden systems activates. You notice an immediate shift in the environment. The flickering lights overhead stabilize, casting a harsh, unwavering glow on the distorted surroundings. The air, previously stagnant and thick with yellow mist, begins to circulate with a faint hum, as if unseen vents have suddenly activated. A rhythmic clicking echoes through the structure, like the sound of a mechanical heart beating in the depths of the labyrinth.
The feeling of being watched intensifies. It's as if the very walls themselves are observing you, their surfaces shifting and rippling with an unnatural animation. You sense that the building is aware of your intrusion and is responding in a way that is both unsettling and intriguing.
Once through the inner layers, you are met with a dark void. The light from the blade barely penetrates this space, suggesting it’s either exceptionally large or possesses light-absorbing properties. The void is eerily silent, amplifying the unsettling atmosphere.*
*I cautiously reach my hand out into the void, it's as if there is just an empty space surrounding this area. I step back a bit and turn towards the hallway, seeing the odd mist around the area. I turn back towards the newly made hole in the wall, taking the blade out of the wall and sheathing it. I unwrap the old cloth still covering what used to be my other arm and throw it towards the void, waiting for the outcome.*
I love fighting games too. Mortal Kombat mainly, but Street Fighter forever holds a special place in my heart. Have you played SF6? And if so, how do you feel about it?
Haven't played it yet, but I'll try it if I ever get an Xbox Series S (or maybe X)
I also got Mortal Kombat 11 for the switch. It was on sale for like $9
Just a generic Sonic the Hedgehog interest check, not much to it.
So basically, the multiverse did a funny and now a lot of things are happening that shouldn't happen. Got that? Good, because I don't have the brain power to explain it right now, maybe later...
*You turn a corner and enter past a door frame where normaly there should be a door, except that frame is actually an completely out of place small tunnel the size and shape of a doorframe but extends out for a few dozen feet until you enter in another expanse of halls and habitat-warehouse like rooms - and what's worse, is that, yes the previous scenario was dead silent and frozen in time, but you could at least see the people that would have moved in there and the vehicles and the activity that was frozen, this place however... this place is just EMPTY... like out of place empty...*
*I look over at the wall, getting an idea of sorts.*
∆: Maybe... How thick could it be?
*I grab my ∆-Blade and walk towards the wall, placing the top of the hilt on the wall and activating the blade. I begin to cut a rectangle-ish shaped hole in the wall.*
Appearance: Short, has dark gray hair that is usually messy, usually wears a dark green shirt over a black hoodie and gray pants. There seems to be an unexplained scar from his right shoulder to his right eye. His most noticeable feature is his dark red eyes.
Ability: Gravity Manipulation
Personality: Mostly timid and quiet, having a blank expression most of the time, even the tone of his voice seems blank. Occasionally, he'll be a bit more open and talkative, just depends.
Back Story: Nothing was really odd when he was born, but when he first opened his eyes, there was something off, the dark red was unusual and not normal. His parents thought it was odd, but shook it off. About one decade later, when he was around 12, he was at school in a classroom by himself, (He would usually stay after classes) and realized something was off... He felt something in his hands, almost like there was an object pressing against them on all sides... The pressure from it quickly rose, and then stopped... He had quickly shaken it off, thinking it was nothing. Later, when he arrived home, he was sitting at his small desk next to his bed, when he reached to pick up a pen, the strange feeling from earlier came back, and he felt it releasing towards the pen, causing it to break through the desk and got lodged into the ground. Things quickly escalated from there, where the same strange occurrence would happen with multiple objects, whether he was at school, home, anywhere, really.
About 1 year later, he saw an advertisement for a certain school, he paid it no mind. A few weeks a later, an incident occurred at his school involving his unknown power, which ended up getting a few people injured including his best friend. He had been called many things, freak, monster, and many more. He had stayed at home for another several months, isolating himself. One day, he saw the same ad for the school and got an idea. Fast forward to today and he is arriving at the school.
