Hi! I'm Sparkles, or Zombie, depending on your perspective. I have had fun with play-by-post roleplay for over a decade, starting in the AO-helL chatrooms and later moving to forums. Sometimes I game. Mainly I listen to music like a junkie.
Genre Preferences
Modern slice of life, urban fantasy, fantasy adventure, survival, possibly others if the pitch is good.
What I Give
Patience. I may check in if there's been silence for a couple of weeks, but I won't pester, nor will I expect a post simply because we're chatting.
Adaptability. We're two people roleplaying together probably for the first time. If it turns out something isn't working, I'm happy to see if there are ways to remedy that. Worst case, we decide we're not compatible and move on our merry ways. Similarly, I'm content to make edits if I make a mistake or something.
Communication. If a post will be delayed, I'll provide notice. If I've lost interest, I'll say something. I'm not the greatest with small talk, but building a friendship can be nice, so I'm happy to indulge in chatter. I generally prefer not to connect via Discord until we're ready to start the roleplay.
Responses that range from one paragraph to a thousand words, based on what's needed and a partner's playstyle. I prefer shorter responses for dialogue- and action-heavy scenes, so that flow can be more natural. I don't care about quantity or mirroring.
Collaboration. It takes two to tango. I'll pull my weight!
Characters with flaws. I strive for depth, but I'll let you be the judge.
What I Seek
OOC maturity & decency. Goofing off is one thing, acting like a man's nether regions is another.
A player of any identity, though I prefer to write with fellow Earthlings, whom I am one of.
The ability to post at least every 18 days, notwithstanding life's shenanigans.
Good grammar and sufficient detail. A good player helps to carry the scene forward, and they can depict their character with their posts, not just dictate the actions they perform.
A partner - someone who comes with their own ingredients and willingness to help bake the cake.
A desire for interactive, collaborative storytelling. Fantasy fulfillment, whether romantic or power-based or what have you, is secondary at best.
A willingness for drama and tension. Fluff is like marshmallow Peeps - best in moderation.
Characters with flaws, conflicts, and goals - real flaws that a player leans into, that shape the character's being and story. Flaws for cuteness and likeability are nice, but they don't offer much to the roleplay.
A platonic or romantic game. I gots more notes about romance farther down.
Communication. We don't necessarily have to chitchat, but a game's success depends on everyone being able to communicate.
Romance, Erotica, & Story
I prefer story and organic relationship development. Fantasy fulfillment is secondary for me at best, and I seek players with a similar mindset, because roleplay only works if our interests are aligned.
In terms of groups, my character's sexuality influences what romances I'm open to.
In 1x1s, I have specific requirements:
M/M only. Usually, I prefer to play against characters who are cismen, but I'm amenable to transmen if there will be no depictions of sex.
Your character needs to have a masculine appearance, as opposed to androgynous. I'm a shallow ho who likes eye candy, even if in written form, and masculinity is what checks the box. Sorry! To be clear, though, a dude having interests that are traditionally considered to be feminine is cool.
No twinks or ukes. Sorry, but they don't do anything for me. In general, I'd rather see a layered character, and not one that is basically an embodiment of their bedroom/relationship position.
There might be exceptions to the above if I have solid rapport with someone.
I'm also poly friendly.
Sexual depictions can be fine, but it needs to make sense contextually, and the scene shouldn't last for more than a few posts unless something significant is happening. I genuinely prefer switching, but I'll write any bedroom position.
