It's tough to find 1x1s that aren't focussed on romance without the other person having to compromise their interests. Not so much an annoyance, as people that love romance are perfectly free to do so, and that's fine with me, but as someone who prefers 1x1, finding compatible people can be a bit of challenge.

Ahh I see. Sorry, if romance is a must then I'm afraid we're not really compatible; I personally always let it depend on wether the characters turn out to have chemistry in the rp.

Johnny O’Marten, the human golden retriever

Information

Name: Johnny O’Marten
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Hair: Brown, shaved up sides, messy on top. Sometimes worn as mohawk.
Eyes: Green
Height: 5’10
Build: Slender and of average height. His skin is covered in tattoos, except his face, and he has piercings in both his ears and his right eyebrow. No scars.
Dress style: Alternative. Often dresses in punk-ish clothes, though he goes for something less elaborate sometimes as well, quickly grabbing a shirt and a pair of jeans off the floor.

Powers: [Only for fantasy RP's] Can make holograms appear in the palm of his hand. Nice as a glorified flashlight, useless in a fight.

Personality:

• Idealistic and optimistic
  Johnny’s heart is in the right place. He wants to help people, dreams of leaving the world a better place and all that. He sticks closely to his moral code and isn’t easily swayed from it.
  On top of all that he is stubbornly optimistic and has an iron belief that together anything can be done.
  While a tad rebellious and picky about authority, Johnny is definitely a softie at heart; easy to trust, easy to forgive and cheerful.
• Reckless/impulsive
  If it seems like a good idea, he’s going for it. This means he is good at making quick decisions when there’s not time to think, but also that he might be too quick to decide on a course of action when more deliberating is paramount.
• Very social
  He likes company. While he can sometimes say things without really thinking them through, he’s still a very socially adept person and knows how to cheer people up or console them.
  Unless something pretty bad happened to him he doesn’t like being alone. If he is in a state where he is the one needing help instead of being the one supporting others he doesn’t know what to do with himself; he definitely has some issues with being vulnerable and is prone to just plastering a smile on and pretending he’s fine.
• Thinks a bit too simply
  Johnny tends to overlook the complexity of certain problems, resulting in him coming up with solutions that tend to be too simple. His confidence means that he can pitch the idea convincingly, but halfway through carrying out a plan, it’s not strange for him to stumble upon things he had not foreseen.
• Pacifistic
  He does not believe violence is a solution. If pushed far enough he’ll defend himself and others, but violence is an absolute last resort. He’s also a terrible fighter, simply due to lack of experience. In combination with having a big mouth, Johnny is very much prone to getting into trouble.

Strengths:

• Good at making friends, cheering people up and consoling them
• Creative
• Witty

Weaknesses:

• Thinks too simply
• Reckless
• Too little regard for himself

Likes:

• Tattoos/tattooing - He likes them in general, but the act of creating something on someone’s skin is calming and fun for him.
• Graffiti. He’s mischievous enough to not just stick to canvas boards.
• Art in general. There’s an Andy Warhol poster in his room.
• Company. Johnny really does not enjoy being all alone.
• Optimists. He’s one himself and gets along best with people who have the same drive and outlook.
• Thai food.
• Skateboarding. A source of injuries as well, since he often can’t resist trying stuff out, but also just a fun mode of transportation.
• Rock, punk and dubstep.

Dislikes:

• Cleaning up. His room isn’t quite like a hoarder’s house, but it’s certainly messy.
• Pessimists
• Country music.
• Authority. He’s perfectly capable of following someone who is fit for their position, but he’s not going to do as he’s told just because of someone’s job/rank/age/etc.
• Seeing people sad.
• Feeling powerless.

Fears:

• Loneliness
• He’s not a major fan of going to the dentist

Background:
Johnny was a bubbly child, the middle child in a family of five. As a teen he quickly started developing a love for both art and streetculture - graffiti and tattoo-art in particular were things he adored and he was hardly fifteen when he got his first tat, illegally. It was on his shoulder, so it was easy to hide when he had to. Of course, this tattoo has long since been covered by something that actually looks decent, but it is where it all started. The ink addiction was a fact for him and when he was seventeen he already had six, including one bigger one, all illegal and all in locations that could be covered up. His parents knew, of course, but at this point there wasn’t too much they could do about it.
This obviously creates the impression that he was the sort of teen that just didn't give a fuck about anything, but that could not be further from the truth. When it comes to tattoos, Johnny's not too concerned with the law but aside from that he's not so bad. He was always up for mischief, but actual crime? No, definitely not.

Johnny was just a lad who enjoyed hanging out with his friends, having fun and skating a lot. Even as a teen he was, in a way, politically involved. Did he know much about politics? Fuck no. But what he did know was that, according to him, things had to change.
This was also fueled by the fact that in his teens he lost one friend to an overdose and another one was caught in a firefight; wrong place, wrong time.
This wasn't unheard of, however; he was from a fairly poor part of the city with a fair bit of crime. His mother however helped out wherever she could; she inspired him a lot.
She inspired his younger brother Jeremy a lot less, however, who got into crime at a young age due to a bad combination of a difficult personality, puberty and very bad friends. He eventually broke off contacts with the family, who up until then had done their best to keep him on the right track.
It was a harsh blow for the rest of them, but it also made them more tightknit. Especially Johnny and his older brother Pat became even closer.
This doesn't mean, by the way, that his adolescence was miserable; it was also the time where learned he was bisexual and had his first relationships.

But it was the hardships that formed a big chunk of his opinions. The people in his neighborhood were often forgotten.
And because of that he really only saw one side of the story. The tales of the people his mother and he helped were often terribly sad, but he had no clue about, for example, what it took to be a politician, how difficult creating change really was and so he pictured the solution a lot more simple than it really was.
"They just need to spend more money on the people that really need it," would be the kind of opinion Johnny is prone to. Lovely in theory, but not always equally applicable in practice.
He wasn’t even necessarily dumb; quite a smart lad, actually, his view has just become very warped by the world around him. Once he got out of his teens, his opinions also mellowed out a little.
He got an apprenticeship at a tattoo parlor while in his first year as an artstudent - a study that turned out to be not really his thing, surprisingly enough - and from there the ball started rolling. He got a job in a parlor that ran surprisingly well. He quit school to spend all of his time working and improving, and it paid off.
He still works at that parlor. It’s got a pretty good reputation and he’s happy there.

Skills:

• Drawing, tattooing, graffiti; he’s quite skilled with various mediums of art
• Motivating people
• Picking up when someone isn’t feeling alright.

Information

Name: Andrew Curtis
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Hair: Black, half long
Eyes: Dark brown.
Height: 6'2
Build: Tall, slender, yet slightly athletic. No scars or other significant body marks. Angular face with full, low eyebrows and fairly pronounced cheekbones.
Dress style: A mix between casual and formal. Generally wears button up shirts and neutral jeans; no clothes with tears or stains in them. His hair is usually loosely styled.

Powers: Usually none; he’s rarely used outside of real life plots. Might change.

Personality:

• Loyal
  In a friendship Andrew is a stable factor. You don't take him to parties and he's not the most funny guy, but if you need someone to help you move, or you need solid advice; he's your man.
• Determined
  Andrew gets shit done. He doesn't like half work and once he has decided what needs to happen, it happens.
  This does mean he's not always very good in compromising. You need rock solid arguments to change his mind. Convincing him something is not worth putting that much effort into is usually a lost cause.
• Selfless
  He’s willing to go very far for others. Sidenote here is that it does need to come from both sides. He might be willing to come at 2 am because you need help, he won’t let people use him.
• Confident and assertive
  He generally doesn’t doubt his own opinions, is verbally strong and an emotionally balanced person.
• Obsessive
  The moment something greatly intrigues him, it will take obsessive shape. This doesn’t have to disrupt his day to day life, but it’s definitely a very real possibility. If he gets over an obsession, that void is quickly filled with something else.
• Serious
  He doesn't have a lot of humor. Getting him to really laugh is also quite the challenge. A grin or a smile; not impossible, but your jokes need to be pretty good to get more out of him.
• Control-freak
  Andrew has a fairly dominant personality. He likes to be in charge in a team and hates losing control of himself. He has a hard time relying on others and can be extremely critical on both his own work as well as that of others.

Strengths:

• Driven and focussed. If Andrew wants to get something done, he will.
• He's a hard worker.
• Also a very good friend.

Weaknesses:

• Very sensitive to obsessive behavior
• Stubborn
• Has a lot of trouble relying on others.

Background:
As the oldest child of hardworking parents he learned at a young age to be independent. Hij grew up to a confident young man with a flair for leadership, but also a person who was quite serious and prone to delve into certain things far too deeply.
That obsessive personality is also the main reason he often kind of neglected his social life, but it made him excel in his business studies.
He had a bright future ahead of him.

But all of that changed when things went downhill with Kevin, his best friend over the years. Kevin had always been less stable than Andrew, prone to depression and to efface himself, but one day Andrew started to realize that things were far worse than he had previously assumed.
Kevin became withdrawn and quiet and even for a workaholic like Andrew it was clear something was very much off. Kevin became harder and harder to reach.
And all of that came to a climax when Kevin ended his life one night by jumping in front of a train.
But it didn't stop there. Andrew didn't believe Kevin had done this voluntarily. Another problem in Kevin's life had been debts owed to some very, very dark people and Andrew became convinced they had something to do with it.
And so it came to pass that he did not rise in the company ranks like everyone had expected him to. Instead, Andrew got a simple job and spent almost all his free time finding out the truth.

Where exactly in this he is in the RP his in depends on the plot.
