Blizzard Entertainment supports the tyrannical government of China. Blizzard Entertainment ends the careers of those who dare dissent against their chinese overlords. And they're not the only ones...

In other news, Republicans in Oregon have laid siege to the state capital, shutting down the democratic process. They have the support of right-wing militia groups who have shot at police before.

Bio

I've been on and off this website for six years now. Right now I've only barely got time for one RP, and even then I mess that up. Trying to be more consistent and online more often, because I really do enjoy online roleplaying. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to write as much as I used too. Until then, I shall brood gloomily in the shadows.

Life goes on! Hobbies change and so do schedules. I hate ghosts, so I'm trying to put myself to rest as best I can with a status and bio officially marking my departure. If I'm going to do any writing, it's going to be working on that book I always wanted to finish.

TIME TO SET HIS PLAN IN MOTION!

The doors opened up, and Bruno quickly examined the situation. Four impractically armored soldiers with pathetic looking metal stick weapons, and a fancy looking man that, although Bruno couldn't quite make out what was being said, he sounded like a prick. Something also brewed inside Bruno, that made these people look...extremely axe-able.

And so, Bruno, after standing blankly for a few mere moments, screamed a gurgly battle cry and charged down the ramp and swung his mighty axe directly at the spindly neck of Lieutenant Quary!

@Ciphra
ok!
Bruno stopped his endless circle and finally came to a stop behind Zhou. Zhou seemed to know what he was doing, and Bruno was ready to lead the charge. He paid no mind to the funny little slime thing, and instead began concocting a complicated and well-thought out strategy in his mind.

Step 1: axe

Excellent.
Plan in place, Bruno gripped his weapon in both hands and looked at the wall that Zhou was looking at.
I mean, I just don't know what to post.

I don't want to do another post of "Maja drives 'round a bit dun did it, ya?"

Vanguard Viewing Platform

A news reporter describes the events around him.

“Hundreds of thousands gather to onlook this historic event. The Vanguard ship stretches into the night sky, prepared to burst through our solar system and leave for Xindi, to leave behind Sol forever and head for greener pastures.

Xindi is the goal, here; a planet that is compatible with the human body. It’s like another Earth. The trip is estimated to take one hundred and twenty three years, a journey that will see most if not all of the people we see entering the vessel before passed away before it reaches it’s destination.

And the ship- what a sight it is. I wasn’t so sure about this whole affair, but seeing that beautiful triumph of space-faring technology- well I’m starting to wish I was on it myself. The excitement is palpable here in New Paris- even those who were skeptical, the naysayers- are on the edge of their seats. The Vanguard, despite being a few miles away- stationed on a specialized building in the Atlantic ocean- can still be seen clear as day. It’s lit up like a beacon, and I can see those massive engines… excuse me, “Xindian Drives”, as they are called, glowing bright blue from here. I mean, they are massive.

TNSE (Terra Nova Space Engineering) has also confirmed rumors that a lucky few on the ship will be taking the ride with revolutionary Cryo-Sleep Chambers. Another leap in technology from this whole event- for those selected, the eighty-three year journey will be as long as a nap. Imagine going to sleep on Earth, and then to wake up under on alien sky. It’s- incredible. Amazing. Spectacular. Can we get a good zoom in shot on that?

There. Much closer now, we can see the last boat unloading the future spacefarers onto the platform. Some of the little ones are waving to us. That’s a controversial part of this affair, right there. Some argue that it isn’t right to take the children on the ships- because it’s their whole future decided by a decision of their parents. I’m just a newscaster, so I can’t officially have an opinion, but the way I see it no matter what they do on that ship, those children over there will be remembered forever. As part of the several million brave adventurers and families who took to the stars. What an opportunity.

Okay-

Faster than light communications has already been developed, as you all know. Until now it’s just been used to check up on and communicate with the Mars Outposts- but it’s usefulness will be a hundred-fold when it comes to this journey. The people at home here on Earth will be able to talk to any friends or family that may have boarded the ship. That’s a blessing, right there. Even the endless ocean of space can’t keep us humans apart, eh?

A TNSE speed-boat has pulled in front of the onlookers now. The holo-screen’s up-. We can see that that is TNSE CEO Baozhai. She’s signaling for quiet.”

“Hello, people of Earth. From everyone here, in New Paris, to all those who look upon this new expedition from home. Today is a momentous occasion. For today is the day humanity dared to leave or fair star, Sol, and strive towards a brighter and exciting future. Settling another planet is an achievement that truly, no other species could achieve. When we work together, spectacular and wondrous things can happen. That is why, we, at the TNSE, are not just an ambitious organization, but are the culmination of the efforts of all of us. All people everywhere, in living their daily lives, contributing to the world in their own way, worked to make this dream happen. And, for that, I thank you.

Once on Xindi, our brave second generation colonists will be guided by not only the leaders we have selected to go into cryo-sleep, but also the most skilled and gifted of us here. Even if some come in from higher social statuses, or with more wealth or formal education, on Xindi, none of it will matter. They will all be treated the same way, with no preferential treatment. A new economy will be constructed, where the market will be competitive, but no people are left behind by those more fortunate than they are.

The challenges that we have all faced on Earth will be kept in mind as we set up our new Utopia. With no previous stigmas, or previous mistakes that have been made, everything will be done in such a way that there will no more wars, economic depressions, or social prejudice.

In a perfect world, everyone who wanted to come, could have. But the relatively small population on board the ship of three million passengers grants us several advantages. In a lower population, it is much easier to keep the peace, and maintain a friendly environment.

So, we ask those of you who may be disappointed in not being able to join us on our voyage, to keep your spirits high and with us. For, like everyone else on this planet, you, too, have helped us reach another.

I say we, us, and our, but I, personally, will be staying here, on Earth, to oversee operations from our home. I am afraid that, even though I lead the project, I do not think my particular skill set would have come in handy on an alien world.”

She said it with a smile, and it got a few anxious chuckles.

“...And so, they will begin their voyage in but a few short moments. We, on Earth, wish them farewell!”

“Farewell! Farewell! Farewell!” The crowd cheers the word for a long while, and a loud, monotone voice washes over them from the launch pad.

“Ten.”

“Nine.” The crowd begin saying the words as well, all but drowning out the official announcer.

“Eight.”

“Seven.”

“Six.”

“Five.”

“Four.”

“Three.”

“Two.”

“One.”

XINDI

Welcome to the Vanguard! You have volunteered and been selected for a special part of the Xindi voyage. You are a gifted individual in a certain way, whether it be that you are particularly intelligent or skilled in a craft. Your attributes were so valued that the Xindi administrators accepted your request to be put into Cryo-sleep. While medical technology has advanced, and some people live for much longer now, it is most likely that you will be the only Earthlings to also be Xindians.

Unfortunately for you and everyone else, something goes horribly wrong an unknown amount of time into the voyage. You will all awaken and attempt to help solve the issue or just survive in general. You, the roleplayers, will have to figure everything out IC. There will be some “scary” situations, so expect having to do fear or pain RP.

COMBAT
There may be situations where the characters will interact with hostile entities. In order to explain this, I’m going to give an example and then go into further detail during the example with parenthesis.

Example:
Player:(In this example, this is you: the player. In order to be successful over whatever hostile entity, you’ll be facing, you’ll do your “move” or “action” or whatever as if it was successful.)

Hefting his broadsword and adjusting his footing, the heavily armored knight raised his blade into the air and brought it down on the goblin, cleanly separating its bulbous head from itss spindly shoulders.

(So the player has done his move. If you are successful, I will not do anything and the RP will continue. However, if something goes wrong in your action, the following will happen: I’ll quote your post, and then put something like --COUNTERED-- or --FAILED-- somewhere in your quoted post. Everything after that will be struck out, and will be replaced with whatever really happened.)

Hefting his broadsword and adjusting his footing, the heavily armored knight raised his blade into the air and brought it down on the goblin, --DODGED-- cleanly separating its bulbous head from its spindly shoulders. The nimble leaped to the side, giggling childishly. It scampered off into the wood.

So, that was the example, I hope you liked it. If it was stupid and didn’t explain anything like I thought it did, please call me an idiot and ask me some questions.

THE COLD
Watch out for the Cold. Despite whatever strange threats you’ll face onboard the Vanguard, the Cold will always be present. Putting someone into Cryo-sleep fully clothed was not an option. Everyone will start off in essentially what is their underwear. You’ll have to get clothes, find warmer sections of the ship, heating units, etcetera. Without protection, the Cold will chip away at your physical and mental health. You’ll get frostbite, hallucinate, fall unconscious, lose coordination, and host of other nasty side effects. Don’t let the Cold get to you.

GUIDELINES
If you want to backstab another player like the shady son of a bitch your character is, PM me and organize the ambush. If you’re noticed, the IC will know. If you and another character are secluded and want to do something in private, we can organize a PM convo. This also goes for 1v1 secret knife fights. If those ever happen. I kind of hope a secret knife fight happens, but the chances are unlikely.

Prepare for failure! Anything can go wrong, and it usually won’t be entirely your fault. This is a high stakes situations, and sometimes being competent won’t be enough for everything to go your way. Your comrades will have to be competent, the world will have to decide to be nice, and you’ll have to be lucky for everything to go right. Everyone can suffer from bad luck or make a mistake. And, please, when something does go wrong, have your character be stressed or something. Just for extra drama in our story, yeah?

Well, that should be everything, except for the rules. Basically, everything goes. Do whatever you want in the IC. Have your character be a dick, just be sure to keep in mind that it’s all in good fun and to tell an interesting story. Let’s be honest, what good story has a bunch of inseparable super friends who use the power of teamwork to solve all of the problems in the universe? This isn’t a JRPG! This is sci-fi action horror! Conflicting moral compasses and ideologies makes everything more exciting. And it makes the moments of teamwork all the more important when people who don’t like each other put aside their differences and survive.

So, uh, here’s the character sheet.

You can use a picture of a face for your appearance, but be sure to describe your height and weight. When choosing what to put in Skills, make it a good and important skill set for setting up a colony on an alien world. Skilled botanists, architects, artisans, and other professions like that. It’s how your character got into cryo-sleep in the first place. Keep in mind that your character has not experienced anything like this before, and most likely got their skills from attending high end universities when writing your biography. Be sure to include why your character decided to go on the Vanguard in the first place.

All characters know English, but a majority of them may know Chinese, too, and some other languages as well depending on your country of origin.

"Copy." She responded, her voice lowering in volume. Maja wasn't sure how many there were, and if they found her once, she had very little doubt they were still tracking her as she drove. She had to lose them. The first step, of course, was to break line of sight with the location of Nobody's kazoo-less doppelganger. She turned another corner, and the shooter's origin vanished around a building. Now, there were decisions to be made. If she hid herself in an alley way or narrow streets, it would limit her mobility and could potentially be a trap. If she were to go into a more open area, she would be vulnerable to more fire and could tracked easier.

After a moment of deliberating, she decided to head for a more open area. The last thing she wanted to happen was get tracked into and trapped in an alleyway. She had no idea how well organized her enemies were.

So, until then, she headed for more populated streets. She had no intention of engaging in a firefight, and her enemies would have to be very brave- and perhaps, stupid- to attack her in a very public area.

@Bombardier
hey no problem

didn't mean to come off as needy or anything XD
