Salem Vicarious, Lord of Lost Things

As the body-horror form of Salem waited in the Climax Hour for battle to commence, Salem watched the events unfolding outside through the doll heads decorating the facade of the Chateau. Salem tsked in disapproval; the command was to wait in the Climax Hour to engage the enemy together, yet so many had decided to meet the threat at the entrance. While Salem could not fault those who went up for the purpose of engaging in diplomacy or distraction, like Rodias himself and supposedly Graft, the shot fired by Chuunitrixx ensured that combat would begin with the Chateau's forces even further divided that they already were, given that half the major players were out on mission, and half of those that remained were in the Climax Hour. Salem had a mind to go up themself, but was significantly less mobile in this bulky form. Besides, combat seemed to continuously begin and end abruptly as fight-ending ability was used after fight-ending ability, only for the golden-eyed gorgon to survive or counter. And in the chaos, Light had brought a partially petrified Rodias inside, who despite his injuries, requested the World Item of Bandersnatch. For the time being, it seemed those outside were attempting to stun-lock the enemy, though it was uncertain whether they would succeed or not.

While Light was getting E Pluribus Unum and the Shadowtower mikos were setting up a major buff, Salem spoke on Graft's Open Line, "Aurora! Ratta! Someone! Get in here! Lord Rodias is being petrified and I don't know if Mamoru's panacea is working." But then Salem turned their attention to Rodias. "My lord, it might be too late to say this, but I wonder if it would be wiser to surrender? I mean, you'll get to meet other supreme beings again, and they probably won't harm us or the Chateau if you join them. Besides, though the rest of us have had a taste of freedom, we clearly don't know what to do with it, leading to a lack the maturity to even defend ourselves properly." Salem's grotesque form gestured with their many limbs towards the emptiness of the Climax Hour, indicating how few actually followed Rodias' order. "Consider myself; this form is ugly and distasteful, but by combining, I become stronger. Surrendering might seem distasteful, but we protect ourselves in the process. And the rest of us are used to following orders, so the real question is; is servitude an unthinkable prospect for you?" Salem wanted to know if Rodias was hypocritical in allowing the denizens of the Chateau to serve him, while refusing to himself serve others.

_{Physical Description}

Kasenmaru has amber eyes, dark skin, and short, luxurious brown hair. He is tall, handsome, physically fit, and slightly effeminate, with the makings of a young male celebrity. Aspects of his quirk can be seen at his elbows and knees: these limbs flare out conically before meeting at the joints.

_{Characterization}

Kasenmaru is chummy and a bit of a playboy. He uses confidence, charm, and humor to get by in most situations, belying his critical mind and mathematical intelligence. However, Kasenmaru also tends to be irreverent and doesn't take many things seriously, often taking the joke too far to the point of rubbing others the wrong way. Though he is not rebellious, he does not blindly accept authority, which can lead to problems with teachers and police. He can sometimes come off as an intellectual elitist, and refuses to tolerate the 'ignorant'. Kasenmaru is also reckless, despite his intelligence.

_{Personal History}

Some surmise that were it not for the advent of quirks and the chaos that followed, humanity would have already gone into space. However, this has not stopped some countries from at least trying to make inroads into the final frontier. Though the countries that have made the most progress are the US and Russia, Japan has, with the help of the US, been making incremental progress. For those who keep up with scientific news, the Oozora's (Oozora Subaru and Hoshimachi Suisei) are a rocket science power couple, leading the nation's space projects. Thus, Kasenmaru was born to two fairly famous scientists working for Japan's fledgling space program, and has become a bit of a small-time celebrity in his own right. Kasenmaru was raised with a strong intellectual upbringing and progressive values. He was taught to question dogma, embrace individualism, and connect with people from different walks of life. His parents encouraged him to sate his curiosity without boundaries, except for safety. It became apparent from a young age that Kasenmaru was naturally gifted, both physically and mentally, and it seemed that no aspiration was beyond his grasp, no future beyond his potential. Like many others his age, he wanted to become a hero and felt that he had the quirk and the brains to be an effective one, using his unique understanding of rocket science and projectiles. After all, he was capable, and already somewhat used to the limelight. But he wanted to push himself, and despite the prestige that would have come from attending UA, Kasenmaru felt he could truly challenge himself at Ishin Academy.

_{Character Development & Conceptualization}

Kasenmaru is a bit like Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark, minus the extreme snarkiness and god complex. Having had much of his life handed to him on a silver platter, and with his mental and physical talents helping him through challenges, Kasenmaru has faced very few real obstacles in his life. A person's true quality only shows when they overcome obstacles, and this is something Kasenmaru needs to learn how to wrestle with; how to deal with failure. Though Kasenmaru is friendly, he subconsciously looks down on others due to his intelligence, and needs to learn real teamwork. His quirk also requires a lot of fine-tuning, training, and specialized equipment before it can unleash its full potential.

Kasenmaru's quirk is called, Rocketman. His arms are detachable at his elbows, and his legs are detachable his knees. His torso, forearms, and calves also contain vacuous chambers. Detached arms and legs can propel themselves by firing high pressure liquid stored in the chambers (like bottle rockets) from a nozzle at the points of separation. The body, meanwhile also has four nozzles, one at the tip of each arm and leg stump. Techniques include the classic rocket punch, rocket kick, and flying the torso around like a cross between a four-way amputee Iron Man and a quadrocopter. He can increase his rocket power by drinking soda instead of water, and even further by incorporating Mentos (TM). His quirk relies on him drinking large quantities of liquid (the fuel for his rockets) to fill his chambers prior to hero activity. He can also just use the nozzles to fire water jets for ranged combat and firefighting purposes.

  As the son of two famous scientists, Kasenmaru has made television appearances since he was a child. Naturally pretty, he learned to take good care of his appearance, while mixing in a gentle, and slightly flirty demeanor to lower people's guards. Kasenmaru has just the right combination of persuasiveness without coming off as bratty or pushy.
• Street Smart
  Despite growing up well-off, Kasenmaru's parents cultivated a strong sense of independence in him and encouraged him to explore on his own. This resulted in him wandering the island of Tanegashima with his friends, looking for cool and interesting places to hangout or eat at. This coupled with a slight ability to read people's moods means Kasenmaru is not as sheltered as many would assume.

  Kasenmaru likes puns, but is self-aware enough to know that most people don't, so he keeps it to himself. He might go a bit overboard with raunchy jokes, especially when poking fun at his own quirk.
