Ok, so my character could have been a test pilot for Aegisframes, and when he proved himself, transferred to Advent Horizon?

I'd say something like that would reasonably happen, especially if a Catalyst was onboard. Would this have been a recent event, or more further into the past and they already integrated into the colony?

I was thinking a fairly recent event, maybe a few years ago, so definitely still the same generation as the original refugees.

Sorry for the delay, I am working on the details and visuals of the Aegisframe, but being a poor photoshopper, it's taking me longer than anticipated. I will put this character sheet down for now and update with the Aegisframe once I'm done with it.

I also wanted to ask, does the Lunar Contingency cooperate with Advent Horizon?

With pale pink eyes, light blue hair, and a svelte frame, Julius has an overall soft and ethereal appearance. Though often smiling, his eyes betray the suffering he has seen in his short life, while holding a firm resolve to right the world's wrongs.

Aspirations:

Having survived a refugee crisis and being picked by the Lunar Contingency to be a test pilot for warframes, Julius wants to use his potential as a pilot to overturn the injustices of the Solar System.

History:

Julius' parents applied to a Western Federation megacorporation for their family to be signed up as 'colonist-employees', where it would be their job to build and live in a small colony with a small city's worth of people on an asteroid in the Asteroid Belt and to mine its resources. However, once the colony had been built and mining began, it became clear that the prior sensor readings as to the mineral-richness of the asteroid had been faulty, resulting in low yield and poor profits for the company. The colony became a liability and was quickly abandoned by the corporation, leaving the colonists stranded in space without supplies. In order to survive, the colonists gathered all their fuel, converted their colony back into the spacecraft that it once was, and set out back towards the Solar System's center. At the time, Mars was on the opposite side of the sun in its orbit, so the Earth was closer, but the colonists refused to return to Earth after their betrayal and headed towards the moon instead. It was a long journey, the ship ran out of fuel and had to drift along its current trajectory. Food supplies dwindled, people starved, many got sick, and Julius became a catalyst. When they finally arrived at the moon, the workers' captain pleaded desperately for asylum. There was initial hostility and reluctance, but the captain let slip that they had sick on board, and after further questioning, finally brought the ship into the spacedock after learning there was a catalyst. What remained of the work crew were provided with temporary refugee lodging and opportunities to apply themselves and get back on their two feet. Julius, however, was treated for his affliction, halting its progress, and enlisted to be a test pilot for the latest line of warframes. However, during his training, Julius was drawn to a top secret hangar, where he formed a connection with the Aegisframe housed within. Realizing this, the Contingency transferred Julius to Advent Horizon.

Role: Defense, area control, melee focus, enemy disable/capture.

Appearance:

Medusa has a 'knightly' appearance, mostly white with dark blue highlights. The shields connected to the shoulders sport connected white circles, Julius' 'Moon Jelly' motif.

Armaments:

• 1X Nematocyst Grappling Wire (mounted in right arm):
  A retractable, medium-ranged weapon, it is capable of puncture damage if the tips attacks straight on, but otherwise uses the clawed end, its considerable length, and disabling electrical interference charge to subdue opponents.
• 1X Stinger Arm Blaster (mounted on left forearm):
  A simple beam weapon with variable intensity.
• 2X Polyp Shield Bits:
  Remote controlled shields capable of protecting allies and harassing enemies from unexpected angles.
  • 1X Bell Shield Projector:
    Projects an anti-beam shield that also reduces the speed of incoming, physical projectiles.
  • 4X Tentacle Wire Anchors:
    Weaker counterparts to the grappling wire.

Apotheosis of the Leviathan (a mecha kaiju mashup RP)

Sensors salvaged from the Hyperian ship had once again detected the imminent arrival of a giant creature from space. CETM had designated this creature as the Spica Alien and preparations were underway to deal with it once it arrived in a few hours. Important staff had been gathered for briefing. Given that much of CETM occupied space in Tokyo University, the meeting took place in a room that was more lecture hall than war room.

Secretary Oleander stood between Dr. McCulloch and Dr. Park, as if separating them. At the back of the room, a camera relayed this meeting to representatives of the UN Security Council who had a vested interest in the safety of the planet.

Margaret faced the crowd and began, "Over-reliance on Hyper Man has been demonstrated, in the past, to be a fundamental weakness of our organization. Any defensive plan requires contingencies. The esteemed professors beside me have worked relentlessly to produce results that will take pressure off of Project Olympian. They have approached the problem from opposing directions, but I believe that the time has come to put their results to the test. As the Spica Alien rapidly approaches, I would like to propose that we send Project Titan and Project Colossus to engage it, and keep Hyper Man X on reserve. In previous encounters we have always sent Hyper Man out first, and only sent in backup from the other projects as necessary. It is time that humanity demonstrates that we can start to stand on our own against these alien threats."

"But Project Titan hardly demonstrates humanity's capabilities since it relies entirely on attempting to tame these uncontrollable monsters," Helen interjected.

"Your toys are equally reliant on unknown tech salvaged from the Hyperian ship," Raymond shot back playfully as he shrugged, "Tech you would be lying if you said you fully understood."

"Better than using the beasts that threaten mankind with their very existence!"

"You fail to see them for what they are, gifts from the stars!"

"Professors," Margaret cleared her throat, "We have guests." She gestures at the camera at the back of the room.

"Why send both?" Came the voice of a representative of the UNSC, "Shouldn't the projects be tested in isolation to best determine their efficacy?"

Margaret sighed, "As you can see, the two projects do not get along." The secretary shot the two scientists a mean glare. "Each is champing at the bit to prove themselves and does not wish to be one-upped by the other. And perhaps, this will be an opportunity for them to learn how to cooperate."

"That seems... awfully juvenile, Secretary Olander. If your staff members are putting pride above the mission, then perhaps you need to restructure."

"Perhaps, but these are the greatest minds we have, I hope the UNSC can forgive the fact that greatness comes with its... eccentricities."

"Well, we trust that you, at least, know what you're doing. We'll use the Spica Alien as a litmus test for the worth of these projects."

"Of course." Margaret bowed her head slightly.

"Meeting adjourned."

The camera turned off as the lights in the lecture hall brightened. Margaret wordlessly shot another incisive glance at Drs. Park and McCulloch before leaving the room. Helen turned to Raymond with a scowl, while he wore a shit-eating grin. "Your experiments will be the end of all of us! You play with forces outside your control." She fixes her gaze on Mitsuaki sitting in the audience for a moment before leaving in a huff. Mayura, who was also sitting in the audience quietly rises from her seat and follows Helen out of the room.

Raymond walks over to Mitsuaki and makes light of the situation, "Don't worry about that hag, her bucket of bolts can't possibly perform at your level. You'll show them, won't you?"

Other involved members of the Tokyo University faculty and CETM staff slowly milled out of the room, some hanging around to chat amongst themselves.

With Irish Tree leaving the RP, I am creating a different mecha pilot character in place of Yamashita Ichiro, since I do not want to use Irish Tree's character without permission. Mayura Mishra has been added to the zeroth character post in the Project Colossus hider under Dr. McCulloch.

So, I'm still workshopping my character. I'm going to assume there are asteroid mining colonies that might just be built into the asteroid itself. Thinking of making my character originally from such an asteroid colony that ended up providing lower yield than the Earth-based corporation expected, so to cut their losses, the corporation just abandoned the colony and all the workers, leaving them stranded in space. The colonists cobbled together an escape vessel and what fuel they had left and launched themselves towards the moon, where they were picked up as refugees.

OK, so a mix between biospheres and interconnected habitat modules. Does the Lunar Contingency also mistreat Catalysts? Since you used FMA as an example, is there room for ethically questionable research?

I'm working on a character, but I wanted to ask, what is life like in the Lunar Contingency? Is it like a modern society with stratification between rich and poor or has it gotten worse (feudal) or better (utopic)? Do the people suffer the effects of living in lower gravity or is artificial gravity a thing? If artificial gravity is a thing, do only certain people have access to it or is it fairly universal? Does Advent Horizon have a stated goal or mission? Are people stuck inside biospheres or has the moon been terraformed?

Great! What would be the total number of funnels a starter Aegisframe could wield? Are catalyst abilities required to control them (ala Newtypes from the universal century timeline)? If so, does it vary by affliction stage?

@baraquiel the NPC that Mitsuaki is the closest with is Dr. Raymond Park, who heads Project Titan, and is responsible for the experiment that turned Mitsuaki into a human-monster hybrid. he oversees Metatron's development and is always vouching for Metatron's potential as a combatant. Dr. Park treats Mitsuaki in a fatherly-big brotherly sort of way.

On the other hand, Dr. Helen McCulloch absolutely does not trust Mitsuaki on account of him being a human-alien hybrid, a sentiment she wears plainly on her sleeve.

Dr. Sekigahara Manabu knows Mitsuaki, as they have had many sessions together to make sure that Mitsuaki is mentally stable after merging with the Vega alien. It's clear that Manabu feels that the experiment was unethical and sympathizes with Mitsuaki.

Let me know if there are other NPCs you would like Mitsuaki to be close to.

@The Irish Tree the NPCs that Ichiro are closest to are Dr. Kawakami Manaka and Kawakami Shinobu, Kawakami Shigeru's wife and son. They both trust Ichiro as a family friend, with Shinobu seeing Ichiro like an 'uncle'.

Dr. Helen McCulloch is the leader of Project Colossus and your current commander. Despite past friction, Ichiro and the Odyssey are Colossus' only functioning assets, and she relies on Ichiro performing well to demonstrate the viability of her project.

Major General Tsukamoto Yuu was Ichiro's former commander while he was still with project Myrmidon. She believes in and trusts Ichiro as a soldier and defender of humanity.

During combat, Ensign Nicole Ning will coordinate and communicate with both Metatron and Odyssey, relaying orders.

The other NPCs, especially the other faculty, can be approached for potential 'upgrades'; ways in which you feel their field of expertise might contribute to making you stronger. Of course, they can also just be approached as characters for RP or for information on the inner workings of CETM.

I will work on getting a first post up in the IC soon. Apologies that it took this long to get the ball rolling.
