Beer is liquid bread. Pop-tarts are ravioli. Corn dogs are Popsicles. I will not be explaining.

Haley โ˜… 24 โ˜… Taurus โ˜… EST โ˜… Casual Level Group Writer

Welcome fellow writer. I go by many names, but you can call me Haley or pretty much anything else. I stick to causal level groups here on the forum. I have a soft spot for thunderstorms, dark humor, strong coffee, animals, pretty words, feminine rage, mythologies, and all things that go 'bump' in the night. I've lived in the same small southern Appalachian town my whole life, and aim to travel one day. I'm open to the occasional random conversation, but please do not message me asking to write one-on-one; it's simply not something I do these days.

The Universe had a funny way of doing things. Spin the bottle was just another tool to drive Sam up the wall. It seemed as if everyone's spin kept landing on his best friend Leo. From Erica to Cassie, Sam was more than sure that all he would hear about later was how this game had worked wonders to boost Leoโ€™s ever growing ego. Not to mention the display that he and Billie put onโ€ฆ. Leo Brooks - the ladies man.

The only reason Sam was playing this game was for Alexisโ€™s. Well, that and because there wasnโ€™t much more to do at this party other than dance. Sam couldnโ€™t dance to save his life.

Luckily, spin the bottle had proven to be the right choice. While there were a few awkward kisses and heated exchanges, the game had also provided them all with a few good laughs to be mixed in with the taunts and jokes. A little stunned over Sav and Nickโ€™s spat, Sam was quickly brought back to reality when Alexis reached for the bottle.

With a nice spin, Sam sat and prayed that the bottle didnโ€™t land on Leo again. While he didnโ€™t one-hundred percent care who the bottle landed on, there was always something super weird about your best friend kissing your crush. Sam would prefer to avoid that.

As the bottle slowed down, it was starting to look like Alexis might have to spin again. In those last final moments the bottle had just enough speed left to land right on him.

Wait. What? Did that just--

Part of Sam was jumping up and down for joy. The other half of him was panicking. He had asked Alexis for a kiss, was gracefully turned down and now this!? If Lexi wanted to re-spin, Sam would have completely understood. Instead, she turned to face him with a smile. That was a good sign but ---

As soon as their lips connected, Sam's mind went completely blank. While he would have happily settled for a peck, Alexis had a different idea. Butterflies fluttered in his stomach as he reached his hand up to cradle her neck. Her lips were even softer than he imagined, and still faintly tasted of vodka and orange juice. After they had pulled away from each other, Sam let his eyes rest on hers as a small smile played on his lips.

When someone had nugged Alexisโ€™s shoulder and broke her out of her daze, they did the exact same to Sam. Quietly clearing his throat, Sam returned to his cross legged position and put his hands in his lap as he anxiously awaited his turn. Still on a euphoric high from the kiss with Lexi, Sam didnโ€™t half care who his spin landed on.

Not until it landed on his Best-Bro-For-Life Leo, that is.

As laughs and teasing โ€™oooooohhโ€™s echoed around the room, Sam rolled his eyes.

โ€Letโ€™s get this shit over with.โ€

Standing up, he did the best that he could in order to hide the feeling of pure disgust rising inside him. Watching Leo waltz over with a cocky grin did nothing to help that.

Sam had only ever looked to Leo as a friend and nothing more. This truly was a โ€˜like kissing your brother momentโ€™. At least he could now have factual evidence when he told girls that Leo was a horrible kisser.

Once Leo and Sam met in the middle of the circle Sam gave Leo a light peck on the lips. He knew that if he tried to kiss his friend on the cheek or someone else, his classmates would just force him to play the game properly.

Leo was not one to go around and kiss guys- it was a well known fact that he was the straightest guy on this campus. So when Sam landed on him, the dark haired boy was not exactly looking forward to locking lips with his best friend. He tried to keep on his macho and confident facade, but as their mouths touched, Leo couldnโ€™t help but pull away faster than lightning, fake gagging for added dramatic effect.

Clapping his friend on the shoulder, Sam gave Leo a stern look. โ€I love you bro, but letโ€™s never do this again.โ€

Holy shit! She said yes! I did that shit.

Doing her best to keep her composure, Talya got rid of the smile on her face just as quickly as it came. She had to play this cool. If she got to excited she could blow it and that was the very last thing she wanted.

Grabbing the other girls hand, Talya led Savannah to the section of the dorm that had been designated as the dance floor. They had barely just found their groove to the beat when TJ announced the game. Seeing how Savannah's eyes lit up in curiosity, Talya quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the circle.

"Dude come on! Let's go make fun of people's awkwardness."

@HaleyTheRandom's assessment is accurate. I, too, live in a small town. We don't even have a movie theater anymore. There is nothing to do around here.

Unless you like bowling, I guess. We have bowling.

We still have both the movie theater and a bowling alley. But they're both super run down and I don't recommend them.
Sometimes I wonder what living the small town life would be like as an adult.

It fucking sucks. Theres no job opportunities outside of warehouses and the only decent place to go out and eat is McDonalds. All people do for fun is meth and wave at cows.

Once inside of the dorm room, Talya quickly propped herself up next to the table with a bottle of beer in hand. She helped pay for the party, so she might as well enjoy it and all of the things that it had to offer.

While sipping on her drink, Talya took the opportunity to scan the room and take note of who all had shown up. There was Savannah, Erica, and Tyler Jane of course. Then came in Nicholas, Griffin, Bradley, Leo and finally Wesley. Talya couldn't help but watch as Griffin and Erica danced near by. The bass of the music softly thudding under their feet as they swayed along to the beat....

His smile.

Her hair.

His jawline.

Her hips.

Oh, the curses of bisexuality.

Talya rolled her eyes in frustration as she tossed the beer bottle in the trash, tearing her eyes away from the dancers. The truth was that Talya had a handful of people that she fount attractive at San Agustin. Nothing set in stone or serious - just enough feelings to make her stare and be awkward. At least that was the case in most of her crushes. Only one person made Talya dare to think twice, and gods knew she was going to have to drink something a lot stronger than a beer to approach that person.

Grabbing a bottle of vodka and cranberry juice, Talya mixed the two of them together in a plastic cup before downing half of the concoction. Maybe that was enough liquid courage to help her out. Maybe it wasn't. There was only one way to find out.

Running her left hand through her hair, and keeping her drink in her right hand, Talya made her way across the room to where Savannah, TJ, and Nicholas stood talking.

"Sorry to inturupt -" No she wasn't - "but I was wondering... Savannah, would you like to dance?"

To tell you the truth, Sam was excited about the party. While he didnโ€™t have that much experience with alcohol or parties as a whole, he was looking forward to the opportunity to get to know some of his classmates better. Trying his first shot of whiskey was high on his list of priorities tonight, and he wasnโ€™t planning on missing out on it.

While he wasnโ€™t directly invited by the hosts themselves, Sam didnโ€™t think it would hurt for him to join the rest of the students at the party. After all, Josh from math class had invited him. He couldnโ€™t let the guys down, right? Besides, nothing super interesting had happened at San Agustin yet. What if this was the only party that he would ever have the opportunity to go to?

Once dressed, Sam made his way to the party. Once inside of the dorm room, the young man was easily lost in the masses. He had heard a rumor that Erica, Sav, and TJ had wanted the party to be a small, quiet kind of thing. If that rumor turned out to be trueโ€ฆ. Well, the girls had failed. Hard.

Deciding to look for snacks, Sam wound up in the kitchen next to a familiar face.

โ€Hey Lex. Whatโ€™s up?โ€

The rest of the day for Billie had been spent on school work. The realization from this morning had left her a little more than shaken, and she needed something to distract herself. Algebra and the facts about the Civil War had done a good job at keeping her company right up until time to get ready.

After taking a quick shower and blow drying her hair, Billie had straightened her hair to make sure that it was perfect. It had been a hot minute since she had been to a party, leaving her to scrounge for outfit ideas. Most of Billie's stuff that looked bomb was to formal. Her usual lazy grey sweat pants were to casual. She had to meet at a perfect medium. Something comfy, carefree....

Easy. Black denim jeans and a simple tank top to match. Perfecting her eyeliner and applying a layer of lip gloss, Billie put her earrings on before hearing her phone go off. Reading her friends text, Billie rolled her eyes as a small smile made it's way to her lips. Nick was going to play dumb for TJ. There was no doubt about that. No way in hell he was fixing to let Bambi think that he had invited his own sister to the party.

With a sigh, Billie shoved her phone in her back pocket before grabbing her favorite Adidas jacket. Another notification came through as she was halfway to her destination.

The ferns?

OH.

Cassie wanted to sneak in.

Of course she did.

While Billie would have slung the door open in a dramatic fashion and announced her arrival, Cassie would want Billie to sneak in and see how long it took people to notice. The blonde girl enjoyed small games like that, and Billie was happy to oblige.

Tiptoeing as she came to a stop right behind her friend, Billie stood on her tiptoes to peck Cassie on the cheek.

"Boo!" she whisper shouted. "What are we waiting for? Go in!"
