“I’m glad, that you would of course. I guess… well. I’ve never bonded like this with anyone before, it’s kind of scary, but exciting at the same time and it’s nice to hear that you’d want to fight for us. I know I would in a heartbeat.” Smiling as he spoke about fighting for them to be together, it was reassuring knowing that fact. A part of her wondered if it had been this easy before the lapse in memories, had she changed as a person or was she always like this? Even though a fair chunk of her memories had returned not everything was clear, the fact she had nearly forgotten about Maisie was astonishing. It seemed that even though Ethan had told her the main facts she didn’t fully know her past life, it was a miracle she knew were she was going in the districts. Could be muscle memory, I guess?
“It really is surprising; it feels like I’ve known you longer than we actually have. It’s nice feeling this comfortable with someone though.” Feeling herself smile at his own words, that she could make him feel so relaxed and that he always liked that about her. “Safe…” Whispering more to herself as she trailed off, Cas made her feel safe and that was something she had never felt before not truly. “You make me feel safe. It’s something I don’t think I’ve felt for a long time, not until you.” Smiling to herself as she admitted her own sentence on how he made her feel safe.
Getting lost into her own thoughts as past memories flashed by, she focused on the word safe, the last time she had truly felt that was when her mother was still alive. Iris had been a child then, no need to worry about anything as she lived in her own little world protected by her parents. Safely in her own little bubble not having to worry about anything like she did now. Blinking a few times, she smiled looked back at Cas nodding pushing away her thoughts “If that’s okay?”
Though soon after her own face reddened just after his as she realised how her words had sounded, she had just said bed. Of course, she didn’t mean anything by it, not that she didn’t ever want that to happen because at some point of course she would. It was natural, she was attracted to him and every time she felt his touch it excited her. Feeling her chest tighten as it started to hammer away, she felt rather flustered and was desperately trying to think of something to say to draw the subject away of what she had said. Unless now she was just wildly assuming that’s why his face had heated up because she could just be getting the wrong end of the stick here and making it far worse than it needed to be.
“Yeah! No… I’d l-like that. It will be good. Yes.” Nodding furiously as she enthusiastically latched onto his words in hopes they did not focus on what she had said. “Thank you…” Feeling herself gulp as she grabbed one of the water bottles taking a sip as she tried to calm herself down already berating herself as she thought of how much of an idiot she currently was. Placing the water bottle down she tentatively moved back down onto the blanket next to him, draping her arm across his chest as she got herself comfortable to get some sleep.
