Kojiki Arcology, Evening

The ritual sent an incandescent beacon to those it was trying to call from the void, sending out a request for aid, through the Right of Sacred Union. A being answered, sending but a fragment of its power to Earth as its representative on that plane, to bind with a worthwhile host. When the creature arrived, it saw, instead of the expected potential host, it saw a room full of dead bodies. All of the potential hosts had been murdered, it observed casually. "Of course they would all be dead... Now I need to find my own host." The disgruntled ta'ge symbiont muttered in its own language as it left the ritual chamber, flying on wings of magic. From high in the sky, it started looking for a worthy subject, muttering a brief incantation that started leading it towards a warded apartment atop a peaceful bookstore. Entirely ignoring the wards, it flew through one of the third-story windows, and into the bedroom of a young girl. On arrival, the creature looked the girl, who hadn't noticed it yet, and sent her a telepathic message, echoing throughout her entire body, echoing in her mind and ringing through to the deepest parts of her body.

"You are worthy."

Books of Wonder 1st Floor, Evening

"Did we finish unpacking the shipment from your brother, dear?" Hideo Nakamura asked his wife, Sophia, from the front of the store as he worked on locking up the shop and closing out the cash registers.

"Mostly. All that's left is the Society's order, and I think we should leave that as it is. That way, the contents stay safer." Sophia replied from the back of the store, near what would be a rear entrance to the store. As the husband and wife pair are talking, there is a sudden quiet as a strange, warbling alarm starts within their own heads. They look at each other, intense worry in their eyes, as they meet in the back of the store by the stairs. As one, the two adults made a dash for the stairs and ultimately Kiokos room, with Hideo gasping "Kioko! Her room is right next to that section of the ward!"

Kioko’s Room (Book of Wonders 3rd Floor), Evening

Kioko was sitting at her desk, blissfully unaware that her life was about to turn upside-down once again. As she sat, listening to music, she heard a light thump through the music, and turned to see what made the sound. As she turned, her eyes met the eyes of the strange creature, and everything winked out of existence as it stared back, and its words echoed through her mind. Kioko felt excruciating pain as her entire being, body, mind and soul, were reshaped and modified to act as a proper host and vessel for this creature, to handle its power and the eldritch energies that accompanied it. After an indeterminate amount of time, Kioko regained consciousness, and noticed four immediate differences from just prior to that... thing? appearing in her room: she was lying on the floor; her parents were in her room, having just sprinted up two stories of stairs; she felt like she'd been trampled by a herd of elephants; and that her house was surrounded by some sort of magical ward. 'Wait, how do I know that?' she thought, before the answer came from a voice in her own head, in the same voice as before, but without the resonance of the earlier message; 'Because we are now one, and my powers and abilities are at your disposal.'

As Kioko sat up, she opened her eyes, glowing gold and compounding like the eyes of an insect. Her parents, who helped her up from the floor, stopped suddenly, and stared at her eyes.

"Kioko... Honey, are you alright? Your eyes..." Her mother said, taken aback by the revelation that something had happened to her daughter, as her father stared, speechless, looking between the window where the ward had been disturbed and his daughters eyes, clear evidence of something happening.

First Reply!! I'm still interested, and will be making a character after I've eaten. Looks interesting & exciting!

"I can't let it happen again, I need to save everyone."
Name: Chloe Bjorgensson
Age: 26
Sex: Female

Appearance: Chloe is a rugged, pretty woman, 5'10" tall and weighing 180 lbs. She is very fit, and exudes an aura of confidence, tinged with the feel of the Alaskan wilderness. Her warm, grey eyes seem to always dance with the humor of a good joke, but there is steel behind this gaze. She looks more at home in a cabin or tent in the woods than anywhere else, and usually has a Leather Bag, which also contains the holster for her pistol, with her wherever she goes. She wears flannel shirts and tough pants throughout the year, which all have a well-used look. Her current outfit consists of her normal flannel button-down shirt and work pants, alongside a warm jacket and a backpack containing her bulkier supplies such as rope, first-aid kit and survival kit.

Personality: Chloe is friendly, confident and vivacious woman who always seems to be calm, collected, and in control of the situation. Her confidence comes from a casual competence that seems to extend to every situation that she finds herself in. What most people don't know is that she is absolutely terrified of letting those around her down, or even getting them killed because she wasn't good enough. Because of this, she constantly pushes herself up to, and often past, her limits to make sure she can do everything and be everywhere she needs to be.

Biography: Chloe grew up in a family of outdoorsy people living in a small Alaskan town. She was a friendly, outgoing youngster, popular among her peers, and never wanting for friends. As she got older, she took to her parents outdoorsman lifestyle like a duck takes to water. As Chloe got older, she went with her parents on more and greater adventures, that went deeper and deeper into the wilderness. Throughout this time, she enjoyed going out into the woods near town with her friends, and even camping with them over weekends. However, the week after she graduated high school, Chloe went with her parents on a week-long backpacking trip into the deeper Alaskan wilderness. Four days later, her group sent out a distress call, and the Search & Rescue team found Chloe, along with the dead bodies of her parents. The deaths were deemed to be unfortunate accidents, but Chloe couldn't forgive herself. She took it hard, and soon after her parents funerals, she bought a patch of woods and supplies with her inheritance and built a cabin out in the woods.

During this part of her life, she occasionally visited town, selling something she brought down or picking up something she needed but couldn't make herself. She would always say that she just preferred the solitude of the woods, something that confused and worried her old classmates. Every so often, one or two of them would visit, to bring news, make a delivery, or just to spend time together. They also did it because they wanted to make sure she was still alive. This situation persisted for the next six years, with Chloe slowly getting over her parents deaths, as she worked, learned, and grew in skill until she was finally confident that she could prevent another incident like the one that happened to her parents. This marked the first time she went back into town to seek out her friends, a week before her 24th birthday.

After that point, she started to get back to her old self and reconnect with her friends. Over the next two years, she grew into the woman she was before the incident, and became a wilderness guide, alongside volunteer work with a nearby search and rescue group, putting her years of experience in the area to use. It helped, to prove time and again to herself that she could save as many people as possible, but it was never enough. She had to become good enough to save everyone. However, one cold winters day day two years after rejoining her friends, she walked out into the woods to hunt, and was never seen again.

Other:
The equipment she was carrying are her rifle, a pistol, a small emergency survival kit, a first-aid kit, a compass, a knife, rope, and camping supplies, as well as a whetstone for her knife, a small gun care kit, and extra ammunition.

@Polymorpheus If there is still space, I'm also interested in this RP.
@MaroonOnix I'm down to wait until there is another player, if you'd like.
@MaroonOnix I'm interested in the Powered Apocolypse plot. Were you looking for potentially multiple people per plot, or just one per plot?
