Something tells me that the attack will go a little something like this:

@Turboshitter Well, this RP is moving pretty slowly. I'm sure with this pace you could manage to crank out a post or two a week.
Telio gazed at the spectacle of the serpent as his companions each took their own course of action in dealing with the creature. Some fought, some trusted Spook and remained at the magic circle, but after a couple of seconds, Telio turned away, not wanting to see the gory results of the battle regardless of the victor. It was at that moment that he head a soft voice; it was only the numbness in the artist's limbs that saved the bird from a violent swat. What it said did little to calm him down or improve his opinion of magic. In fact, it was rather unnerving that this mechanical bird claimed to be able to see his dreams. This bizarre creature whom he had never seen before had seen something that he had not even elected to share with his own family.

"A beautiful dream?" He said incredulously, his voice now quivering on the edge of hysteria. "That... that thing is no dream of mine! It's an abhorrent nightmare that only some depraved demon would conceive! If that's what magic brings into this world, then I'll have no part of it!" He glared at the rune carved into the bird. "And you... you're a product of it as well. A servant of the serpent I suppose? Why should I believe a word you say after seeing your magic do that!?"

Telio's tirade was interrupted by Meryn's approach. He shrunk back from her touch, whipping his head to see his assailant and beginning to scramble back against the statues. However, he began to calm down once it registered that it was one of his comrades. "Ah it's you Miss... well, I'm afraid I never got your name." He gave a nervous laugh. "Even so, I'm glad you made it. How are the others? Did they escape from the monster?" Even though Telio had a view of the scene, he didn't want to look. He was sure the sight of corpses strewn about the woods would make him faint; in fact, he grew light-headed just thinking about it.
Well, I've been toying around with the idea that regardless of all of these students' ambitions, they are ultimately being trained to be tools of the military. I'm not exactly sure how this government works, whether graduates will simply be "on call" for static attacks, or whether there is a larger commitment, but I imagine that the government wouldn't be spending all this money creating receivers and training teams if there wasn't some kind of obligation involved. I would imagine that students would be given a "taste" of the life ahead of them, both to field test the compatibility of the teams and to give them experience before they graduate so that they can address any physical/psychological shortcomings the students may have while they are still young and in the school. Perhaps the students are given a field trip in a area where there is either a known static problem, or a forecasted static appearance. The students will be monitored on how they deal with this threat and are shadowed by an experienced team of alumni in case shit hits the fan.

I want there to be an emphasis on their roles as weapons for humanity and how the students deal with it. Somebody had mentioned a "training in the mountains" arc, and this could be a good premise for it. Students could be sent somewhere on a "physical education" field trip, thinking they'll be doing military exercises and whatnot, but be unaware of the imminent static. I don't want the seniors to expect anything either, and have ideas to work around that, but I'm not sure how far the Academy is willing to push ethics, or what pressures the Academy may be facing from the government.

I imagine this arc would work best once the teams settle in with each other, so I wouldn't want it to be the first arc, but it's never too early to start planning. I also don't want to spill too much, so any finer details I should probably discuss with @VitaVitaAR. Opinions? Ideas? Contributions?
@EmptyArmor OK, I did the edit. Changed a bit about the shield in the first paragraph, left the second paragraph the same. And the positioning you are imagining is correct.
@Mokley Yea, I think we actually have a manageable cast now.
@EmptyArmor Ok, so if your main issue is that you want my post to reflect more resistance to the shield being pushed down, I can edit that. I did reflect a change in positioning, though, that would result from the two of them pivoting.
@j8cob I hope you really like this person...
@EmptyArmor The thing is, Talon never intended to continue going forward once he grabbed the shield. There was nothing preventing him from reaching his intended destination, nor was there anything pushing him after reaching it. Thus, there is no reason to think that he wouldn't be on stable footing after grabbing the shield. In terms of the brute strength, note that you said Daniel pivoted, not that he pushed Talon in any direction, so Daniel's strength does not come into play. Furthermore, in a contest of brute strength, it would likely be a stalemate:

They are also incredibly strong, able to hoist boulders over their heads and toss them.

As for the reaction time, reacting to your character's movements is perfectly reasonable. After all, nobody just sits back in a fight and lets their opponent do whatever they want.
Ryuuto Anjou

Ryuuto felt like a fool with his hand hanging in the air like that. Had Kenzaki-san not noticed the gesture? No, she seemed to be looking at him quite intently, and her demeanor said pretty clearly that she was not the air-headed type. Maybe, then, he had made a bad first impression. Had he managed to annoy her already in those three short sentences? Or was she just a naturally rude person? Ryuuto decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and assumed that she just wanted to get out of this crowded room as much as he did, and so he followed her out without complaint.

Once they made it outside, Ryuuto decided to make a second attempt at conversation, this time skipping cordiality and getting straight to business. He cleared his throat, opened his mouth to speak, and cut himself short once before finally deciding to speak again. "Your strength as a tuner will depend on our relationship, so it would be beneficial to take this time to learn a bit about each other. Let's start with school. What are your best subjects? Mine are Math and Science." Now that he wasn't worrying about being polite or friendly, the awkwardness in his voice was replaced with an air of formal professionalism.

Keiji Kojuro

"Aww man, Mt. Fuji? I'm jealous!" Keiji took a deep breath of the fresh air once they escaped the crowded basement. It wasn't a long walk to the dorms, but Keiji moved at a leisurely pace to take in the familiar scenery. "Every year my Dad says he wants to take us there, but he can never get off of work. Hell, I barely even saw him, so I spent most of the break with my mom and my little sister. We went shopping, got some stuff to eat, you know, the usual boring stuff people do when they can't think of anything fun." It was a funny paradox the Keiji lived in. He hated going to school because the work was annoying, and he hated being away from school because his family was boring.

"Here we are, home sweet home," Keiji said as they arrived at the dorms. Of course, their luggage was placed in front of their room, on time as always. As always... "Hey, Momo, let me run a crazy theory by you. Do you think they do a boring ceremony every year just to give people time to deliver our stuff? I sleep through it, but everybody says its the same speech every year. If it's the same speech, then they know how long it will take... exactly long enough for them to deliver our luggage. Makes sense, don't you think?" Of course Keiji didn't truly believe that was the reason for the opening ceremony; all schools had them. But, sometimes it was fun to think of the world as one big coverup, and he knew Momo wouldn't laugh at him for it.
