Taking shitty selfies cuz im a slut
So Ian actually has an eyepatch now? Or did Sigma just remove his good one?
Getting pretty brutal ITT.
@Dondude Ah sorry, by the time I came back online the topic had thoroughly departed :(
Okay I lied, I'm a jerk. But I will post soon, I promise.
Two rapid shots brought Takeo back to his home planet and the war against the Cruxi, and he immediately fell back against the nearest wall to find cover. His head was on a swivel, trying to spot the danger. Oddly, everything else seemed to freeze, and then reality continued on, ignoring the disturbance. There was no alarm, no further shooting, and the look on the face of the lieutenant spoke of business as usual.

Takeo felt his heart leaping in his chest as he forced himself to relax and move toward the doorway, the source of the gunshots. Everything registered, then, and the scene played out retrospectively in his head. Lieutenant Ritsu had handed the XO her sidearm. He moved to the hallway to confront Ian, and shot him in both his legs.

Confusion and disbelief brought the mechanic's thoughts to a jarring halt. Ian was being disciplined. He understood that. But what kind of discipline was this? On his home world, the battle against the Cruxi brought everyone together. Everyone was family, everyone protected each other - the bullets were for the Cruxi, and them alone. Why did Lorenzo waste such precious resources on hurting Takeo's fellow pilot?

Sigma pushed passed him, knocking him out of his thoughts, and picked Ian off the ground. Something else introduced itself into Takeo's thoughts, then, something he had rarely experienced before. It was the vice grip of cold fury, grinding his teeth, twisting his face to indignation. His bones creaked in white-knuckled fists, and his arms shook with violent energy.

Why? Takeo's voice was a roar in his mind. I've failed to protect him twice, now. Why did I let this happen? WHO are we supposed to be FIGHTING!?

The XO escorted Ian and Sigma away, something Takeo didn't notice until they were gone. Fiery eyes found the lieutenant's as she made to leave, the woman whose gun put Ian on the ground. He only watched her as she left, trapped between anger and subordination, unable to find the words to speak to her. He had to speak to someone, had to ventilate his rage before he did something he knew he would regret.

"Good luck, Ian..." Korie said, nearly whispering.

Why would you say that? What do you know? Takeo followed Korie as they left the scene, waiting until they were both out of sight before stepping in front of the other pilot. Once more, he could not find the words to say. He could only stare at Korie with wrath and anguish painting his face, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't bring his smile back.

DAY 2

The pitter-patter of steady rain rouses you from your slumber. The sky is dark, grey and dreary, and the wind blows cold, icy like the hand of death itself. There will be a funeral today, and you swing your heavy limbs out of bed to prepare for it.

Out on the road puddles begin to form, reflecting the emptiness of the heavens. Tendrils of white smoke crawl out of nearly every chimney. But as you pass the baker's, something catches your eye, and your nose. The smoke coming from within is black, filling the air with a horrible acrid scent, like burnt meat and...something else.

The source of the disturbance becomes apparent as you follow a gathering crowd into the bakery. Reinhold Battista, the owner and a man who you have purchased bread from countless times before, lay head-first into his own oven, a large knife jutting from his spine. His face, arms and chest are unrecognisable, rendered to a charred black corpse veined with hellish red fire.

A trail of red from the knife leads your eyes to a newly-finished cake on the counter. Written in Reinhold's very blood is a message on the cake: "NOT DONE YET".

(Reinhold Battista, the sheriff, has died!)
(It is day. You can decide amongst yourselves to hang the likely killer, or take no action and wait for night to fall.)
I think the torture is a good bit of character development for Ian, but maybe we can gloss over the rest? :P
