Just one issue with your app. Characters must be ODST only I'm afraid, though I may allow for one or two marines/crew who survived the pelican crashes if people beg me enough. There's no Spartans, no Master Chiefs, no armour lock. Just bad-ass vanilla humans.
So, re-roll yourself as an ODST, and we'll be just dandy.
Appearance: Horatio has a flat face, and a rounded head. His hair has greyed early, possibly due to extended combat stress, or possibly due to bad genes. He keeps it close cropped to his scalp.
He's of an athletic build; not particularly muscular, but more of an endurance runner type. His torso is tight, and most are surprised of how little there is of him when he's not wearing his armour.
His skin is pale, and quite hairy in most areas. His eyes are a dull brown, flanked by tired bags. A few wrinkles are strewn across his brow, but otherwise, he looks fairly youthful - grey hair be damned.
Wears the standard issue black ODST combat armour.
As this is the lite edition, there aren't many rules here. This RP is just for people to write stuff, hone their skills, have fun, and maybe somehow create an awesome story out of it all? All I will say is:
DO NOT UPSET OTHER PLAYERS OR ENGAGE IN TIT FOR TAT ARGUMENTS.
Write as much or as little as you want.
No writing/grammar skill requirements.
No enforced frequency of posts; post whenever you like, although try not to leave people hanging.
The Story
Set during the height of the Human-Covenant War, and taking place just before the discovery of the first Ring World, the UNSC Fearful, a light cruiser, flees the Fall of Reach in the later stages of the fighting.
Adhering to the Cole Protocol, the Fearful plotted a random slipspace course far from any human population centre.
Appearing in a previously unexplored location of space, and with its navigation systems heavily damaged from the fighting, the UNSC Fearful was effectively lost. However, the Covenant knew exactly where it went, and a battlegroup arrived in short order to finish off the listing vessel.
Before the Covenant plasma cannons could tear through Fearful's hull, Captain Mike Arlington declared an evacuation; there was an archipelago-like world nearby, which the ship's on-board A.I had deemed as life sustaining.
Crew and military personnel alike jumped into the drop pods and pelicans, but the Covenant fired before a significant portion of the ship's inhabitants could escape. Hundreds died, and only a few escaping pelicans and pods made it out.
The ships that did manage to make it to the planet's orbit, were tightly pursued by Covenant dropships.
Not the ODST though; these guys in their orbital drop pods got through the net, almost undetectable in the chaos, and made planet-fall.
Now, they must survive the Covenant's follow up patrols of the planet's surface, and somehow figure out a way back to human-friendly space... although at this point, that's a bit of a false hope.
The Game Area
Right click, view image to enlarge, I think?
Covenant Bases: These are reinforced dropship locations that the Covenant have fortified, and are using as temporary bases. They are dangerous, but stock an abundance of weapons and light vehicles such as banshees and ghosts.
Pelican Crash Sites: These are the unfortunate ships that were hounded to the surface. They are usually watched by the Covenant, as they would be a likely gathering point for any human survivors. However, they have a good stockpile of human munitions and supplies.
Ruins: Ancient ruins of an unknown origin, and it falls to the Players to decide what they find in there.

I'll sign myself up as an ODST stationed on the UNSC Fearful. I'll probably make a joke about how the ship was named this and then ran away
You and everyone else!
After a fair while of getting kicked to the curb by the Covenant, a few pessimistic ship names cheeked their way into the system. I mean, the Pillar of Autumn? That sounds depressing as Hell to me.
But no, my real thinking was for it to be ironic. Sometimes in war, ships and planes get given funny names.
I'm gonna have to drop out. It's been five days since the opening of the IC and the GM hasnt even posted, nor made a character. Up until this point this roleplay has been essentially GMed by the players, and besides, I've lost interest anyway.
Im interested in this as well. Huge Halo lore fan. :)
Great! Welcome aboard :)
I'm lacking behind current times, I'll be honest. I played Halo CE, 2 and 3, and I read the first three books.
Things have progressed some way further since then, I understand. However, that's why I staged the RP in my comfort zone - during the Human-Covenant War.
Still, it's good to know I have someone who can help me keep things in check.
