Well, not quite like that in my world. It's not like you would suddenly see normal people who lived a life of deep crime or the like, suddenly split apart and grow teeth and claws everywhere and suddenly start eating people's souls... well that could happen if that criminal would have been a deep dark sorcerer for too long, but other than that, said transformation and damnation would have taken place in the afterlife...

Well let me tell you, at least in my world , the meaning and translation of the word demon...

Malignant spirit, divisive power, false messager...

So in my world, it isn't so much the name of a species, and more like the state of a person's moral compass.

Yeah, I guess this must be valid for your world. In mine that is the second one... I guess it's also helpful to have an almighty God monitoring the hearts and minds of people...

Even a person can become a demon if they harden their hearts and souls enough...

Is is it, aspect, biology and functionality?

Which do you think is a monster :
Horns, tail, red glowing eyes and serpent's tongue?
Or a person willing to kidnap a homeless orphan toddler and torture them in unspeakable ways just because they think it's fun?
