1.) Magical girls ala costume change + weapon - so in that vein 2.) Personality and backstory will affect the power you've been given. It's not totally random. I have a set of powers ready and a rubric that I follow so I don't have to make one up all the time.
Since before civilization, mankind has always feared the dark - or rather, what lies beneath it. Horrors that roam as ideas for us in the safety of day, and come to a wretched life at dusk. Ever and always, man has devised ways to fend off the darkness, methods both real and imagined. This fear led to the explosive expansion of man - this fear developed fire, agriculture, medicine. From this fear, civilization was born. The mad scramble to drive away the darkness had urged mankind ever forward.
And yet, it is also this same fear that kept the darkness alive.
The fear that gave birth to civilization had also borne with it . . .
Murder . . .
Genocide . . .
Evil
And with the birth of evil, the abominations that resided alongside us laughed and swelled in numbers and strength. They fed upon evil, and grew into true, living horrors. And with evil as its sword and fear as its shield, horror encroached upon mankind. The corruption eroded at the roots of a budding civilization, threatening to kill humanity before it even existed. Man was nearly driven back into the darkness, were it not for one thing:
Sacrifice
Just as fear had borne evil, evil had birthed sacrifice and courage. With the tools given to them by the enemy itself, mankind pushed back. The idea that death meant nothing, so long as those around them could live and love as they wished, resonated throughout the earth, and the horrors were driven back into the dark, and faded into legend, to be forgotten.
Still, humanity would not easily forget that which nearly eradicated them. Though society as a whole has forgotten what it meant to fear the darkness, there are those that still carry the burden of those memories, and the responsibility that comes with it; the responsibility to fight with your life on the line, knowing that they are the only one's that can. They stand as stalwart sentinels against the night.
The "Kispu Sinnis Wardatu"
The Magical Girl.
As advertised, this is a totally fun and child friendly magical girl RP!
. . .
I'm sorry, I couldn't help it.
In any case, this is, indeed what is called a magical girl RP, in the sense that you are going to play out the lives of young to prepubescent girls that have, through a series of fantastic circumstances, obtained powers beyond normal understanding, which are used to combat the forces of 'evil'; similarities with the conventional magical girl fare end there, however, as this is more than just young girls with powers dispensing their brand of colorful justice, with some yuri-goodness on the side, and neither is it a world of grim-darkness that seeks to ruin a magical girls innocence. No, this is RP was born from the thought of magical girlness taken to logical extremes
1.) This is a Casual-level RP; I'm sure we all know what this means, but just in case: Casual-level is at least a paragraph long, with understandable grammar and spelling. A focus on character development is apparent.
2.) At least one (1) post 2 days. If you're going to be delayed for whatever reason, kindly inform everyone involved in the RP so we're not overly inconvenienced.
3.) Let's not be overly aggressive to the opinions of others here; disagreements, yes - disagreeing is a fundamental tool for the growth of society - but, also agree to disagree, and learn to leave it be. I want to have as much fun here as possible, and we're all aware arguments.
4.) Post count should not be under 1000 characters. This isn't a high-casual level RP, but I have a certain set of standards I want people to adhere to. Try and stretch your writing muscles with us!
5.) Ask the GM (That's Me!) in case you're confused, rather than make assumptions which are generally followed by arguments.

Take note, that as of now, this OOC is incomplete - it is currently missing the 'Rankings', 'Events', 'Bestiary', and others. This is a deliberate decision! As the RP progresses and more information is revealed, I'll be updating the OP. This is because I'm attempting to simulate players having about the same amount of information as their characters!*

Fairly tall for her age, standing at a respectable 5'11" (180 cm) in height. Long russet brown hair, often styled into a strict braid-bun for public outings; in more private settings, she leaves it loose.
Delia takes immense pride in her looks, necessitating hours of preparation when presenting herself to the public, and following a strict diet and exercise regime. As a result, she's also not as dainty as her appearance suggests, her body lithe yet sturdy - the body of an athlete, if the said athlete was also a model in her spare time.
In terms of wardrobe, she's been given nothing but the best. Publicly she prefers to wear dresses and though the designs vary, the colors involved are consistent: dark blue, red, and gold - The national colors of her Empire.
In private, she prefers clothes that are more comfortable, such as dressing gowns or robes.
Critical and severe, with a stubborn personality that does not easily bend to others reasoning - no matter how good their intentions may be. She has a strict set of beliefs that she does not easily compromise.
As critical as she is with others, so she is to herself - an overachiever and an unforgiving taskmaster, she will work herself - not to mention others - rigorously to ensure that her standards are met. Most find that those that do no meet them often find her to be as unforgiving as she is stubborn.
Conservative in her beliefs but nonetheless her revolutionary blood shows itself clearly; traditions that stand in the way of her Empires prosperity are easily thrown away. Her single-minded pursuit of her goals have earned her a reputation for ruthlessness and fears that she may become a tyrant worse than her father.
It is difficult to get on her good side, but those that do find that she is a stalwart and loyal ally. Though not exactly "friendly", she nevertheless is defensive and more compliant with those she considers allies.
Even more difficult than earning her goodwill is her friendship. Those that earn earn her friendship will find that she is trusting to an almost naive degree, and may even find themselves graced with one of her rare smiles.
Of course, on the flip-side, it is startlingly easy to earn her enmity - provided one pushes the right buttons, and nothing irritates her more intensely than the shirking of ones responsibilities.
The darling daughter of the Emperor of Megara. She was born into an era where chaos had ended, but its death throes still left lasting effects on a ravaged kingdom. She was not raised as a typical royal - though she was not poor, and in fact was as wealthy as royalty was expected to be - spending on frivolities was impossible, not while all the money was being funneled into the stabilizing of what would soon prove to be a fledgling Empire.
As such, she spent much of her youth in the company of the lowborn, her subjects, particularly soldiers, who passed through the palace 24/7. This ground her to the reality of what the denizens of what would be her Empire had faced, and would face, should they once again be brought low.
This, combined with the accomplishments of her practically legendary parents, taught her that leaders - in particular, royals must be different from commoners. Noblesse Oblige was not merely a code of conduct, it was a fact of life for her, a natural consequence of royalty being better than all others. Her drive to improve the livelihood of her subjects did not go unnoticed, and at 9 years old she was made to shadow palace officials and watch them work. By age 11 she was tasked with assisting with their work. By the time she hit her teenage years, she was given a place as a ranking official - though her regular schooling continued, albeit she . By the time she hit 17, she was given the rank of General Logothete, with personal power and jurisdiction over the taxation and funds of the entire Empire.
Accusations of cronyism would not have been unexpected at this point - the teenaged daughter of the Emperor put in charge of the money? It would seem like blatant corruption to the uninformed - however, those that had worked with her noted her sterling record, and her unnatural drive to succeed. Coupled with a prodigious talent with numbers, she was every bit as capable as those 20 years her senior. Her improvements to the laws and process of licencing for business in particular endeared her to the masses, who greatly benefited from the influx of local businesses and job opportunities.
Nevertheless, her sterling record is not without its blackmarks - her increased taxes on Muslim-owned businesses have earned her a considerable number of detractors, as well as her diverting the budget to military expenditure.
In time, the invitation to Aciras, as well as her intended betrothal, were made public. Her reaction to the announcement was debate with her father on who should take her place in the government.
Yuri at 16 stands at an impressive height of 175cm (5'9"), with an equally impressive physique. She is has an air of "rugged beauty" about her.
Her magical girl costume does not consist of much - during her transformation, she actually wears less clothes than usual, her outfit consisting of a simple sarashi to cover her impressive chest, and a black hakama for pants. Her footwear changes to tall red tengu geta. Her hair also turns from auburn to a dazzling golden hue.
โข Name: Kaneko Yuri
โข Title: Golden Lily
โข Age: 16
โข Emblem: Yuri's emblem is a mandala tattoo, located on the small of her back:
Normally dull black in color, the tattoo shines golden when Yuri's strength reaches its peak.
โข Divine Arm: Yuri's divine arm manifests itself in the form of a bright red kimono, with a pattern of dancing flames designed into it. While contributing little in the realm of offense, it's defensive capabilities are immense. The fabric is preternaturally tough, capable of acting as a shield for whoever wears it - it is strong enough to weaken the blows and magics of even other magical girls, though of course that is dependent on the strength of the individual magical girl. This defense is not without its limits, however - Yuri's divine arm, differing from her sister magical girls, actually has a set durability. Once a certain amount of punishment is taken, the kimono shatters as if affected by her own ability.
By far it's most powerful ability, however, is it's ability to nullify bindings and status ailments targeting the wearer. Bindings slide off, and attempts to poison or blind the user are rendered ineffective. This allows Yuri to fight to her hearts content. The limits to this ability, however, is that it can only focus on one or the other. Switching between stopping bindings or preventing status ailments takes five minutes of time.
โข Magic: Yuri's magical ability is, simply put, the ability to break things. The longer Yuri exerts her magic on a target, the easier it becomes to break - though only for her. Her magic shows itself through golden glass-like cracks that appear on her target; the more cracks that form, the easier it is to break. Her magic can be applied to even metaphysical constructs or objects that can't be "broken" - like darkness and wind, respectively.
While potent, there are hard and fast limits to her ability. Sentient, living creatures are capable of ignoring her magic completely, with the only exceptions being: Divine or Devil Arms, living creatures that are close to death or no longer wish to live, and Nightmares - though it's debatable whether Nightmares count as "living". Her ability also requires some time to work, with the magnitude of her target coinciding with the time needed to make it properly breakable. For example: a small fireball, something like the size of her head, is something she's capable of "breaking" instantly, while a fireball as big as a car takes significantly longer, to the point where it would be easier to just dodge.
Another drawback is that Yuri's magic is single target only, and her range is limited to what she can touch. While she can switch targets instantly, the speed of her breaking-point does not transfer over, and is limited by sight.
โข Background: Yuri is a girl born in the wrong era with the wrong gender.
What she is, put simply, is a warrior. Uncompromising and only truly alive in the heat of battle. Despite her completely normal upbringing, she was born with an urge to test her might against others. It started with small things - childish wrestling and hair-pulling, started over some nonissue - but gradually evolved into something more refined, if infinitely more lethal.
She would pick fights with others, if none came to her, she would goad them, provoking them into a temper until she got the fight she wanted. This was her daily routine, until one day, an opportunity arrived, promising her greater thrills and ways to test herself.
When the call to magical girlhood came, she answered quickly. Here was an entirely new dimension of battle, one she had never even considered.
Though the Golden Lily fulfills her duty as a magical girl, it is second to her desire for true combat. Among her sisters, however, she is known to be a reckless menace that spontaneously challenges others to duels.
โข Inventory: A journal that she keeps with her at all times. She accurately and precisely records each of her battles in its pages, complete with notes and sketches. This is her 20th such journal.
โข Sample Post:
The life of a magical girl was a difficult one, when put into consideration. The sudden responsibilities you were saddled with, the dangers you would constantly be forced to face, and the inability to ever truly renounce the call ate at the beings of magical girls everywhere. Then there was the secrecy โ the isolation as friends and family that could have been a source of comfort from the life and death struggles one was forced to face being slowly alienated by that very same duty. Oftentimes it cracked them, wounded them until they either broke or the wound festered. If they survived they turned into something else entirely. A form that renounced all that they stood for. Kaneko Yuri contemplated on this as she ground another Nightmare into the ground. โAnd thatโs the last of them,โ she said to no-one in particular. It was a good night of hunting, all things considered, but nothing out extraordinary. No surprise there โ it would be greedy of her to think that she could stumble across an amazing opponent every other day. Or so she thought. โGolden Lily,โ a voice called out; low, but feminine, and most of all, threatening. โAah, ladies. How may I help?โ There were two of them โ a pair of girls that walked into the street-turned-battle-ground. Both wore dark colors, an oddity among magical girls who preferred a lighter garb to represent the nature of their responsibility, unless, they werenโt just magical girlsโฆ โYouโre in our territory. I assume youโre smart enough to know what that means.โ Golden Lily snorted. โAssume Iโm not half as smart as you think, so tell me, what does it mean?โ Her eyes gleamed with the unsubtle challenge. Go on. Do it. Try me. The younger one of the pair bristled at her tune, but her older partner, the one who had spoken remained more composed. The dark haired girl raised a single brow and said, โIt means that weโll fight here, which is no doubt what youโre after.โ At that, Yuri had to stare. Not too many people responded like that, especially people whom sheโd never met, and she told the girl as much. โPerhaps that was then, but youโve a reputation now Golden Lily. A rather infamous one I might add. If there was any part of the rumors that Iโd found unbelievable, it was that you were not a dark magical girl.โ The girl paused and stared at her, scrutinizing her for a moment before once more lifting a single puzzled brow. โWhich, unbelievably enough, looks to be true. How peculiar,โ she added as an afterthought.
