Baba Yaga is... fickle. Unpredictable. A wildcard just as likely to help you as she is to hinder you, it can be difficult to get a grip on what Baba Yaga is thinking or what she’ll do next. She’s far from crazy or irrational, but appears to be operating on logic and morals completely alien to normal people. Perhaps a consequence of extreme old age and advanced boredom, Baba Yaga bases most of her decisions on momentary whims and gut impulses, helping those who she likes or those whose goals she sympathizes with, and punishing those she dislikes or who she thinks it’ll be most amusing to punish. Basically, her moral code runs on brownie points and whatever Baba Yaga thinks might be funny at the moment. The one consistent thing about Baba Yaga (besides boredom) is that she’ll always honor a promise, and a Master’s contract is no exception. Strange as she may be, those who can take a minute to understand Baba Yaga might, just
might be able to make it through the Holy Grail War with her in one piece.
History:
An ambivalent and highly ambiguous force for good and evil in Slavic folklore, most of Baba Yaga’s past is shrouded in mystery, and the exact nature of her being remains unknown. Is she a witch? A goddess? The Earth Mother herself? Or is she just an emissary? No one knows. The only thing that is known, to her Master only, is the reason for the legends regarding her appearance. While she was once a beautiful woman in her youth, as opposed to the hag-like figure most people know her as, her appearance became distorted in legend due to her extremely long legs and her great height, which made her appear as though she could touch the opposite walls of her hut at once (we’re talking some real Bayonetta/Hachishakusama shit here). Over time these features became exaggerated, and as her face grew older with more warts and wrinkles, the image of a spiderlike old crone took hold. She hates this image of herself however, and would kindly remind her Master that her legs are beautiful and go all the way up and no farther, thank you very much.

- Description: Baba Yaga’s mobile hut, a magical fortress made from rough-hewn stone and yew that walks on a thousand chicken legs like a millipede. Capable of walking, running, and even jumping hundreds of feet in the air, the hut is a mobile magical weapons platform powered by an inexhaustible mana reactor core (similar to the one found in Prelati’s Spellbook). Amplifying her magecraft like a Temple and supplying her with a small but inexhaustible trickle of mana to supplement her own reserves, Baba Yaga’s innate magical abilities increase to the point where prolonged, continuous use of Anti-Army magecraft (i.e. gratuitous beam spam) becomes possible. When it decides to settle down in one place, fences made of human bones pop up all around it, skewering any unwanted intruders who attempt to enter without Baba Yaga’s permission. The hut is capable of taking as much damage as it can dish out, requiring an Anti-Fortress NP to completely destroy it (since it is itself a fortress), and any damage that it sustains in battle can be fixed with the aid of the trees of the forest, which aid Baba Yaga in the construction of her hut. Outside of the forest, the hut’s self-repair function is inhibited by the corresponding distance from nature, but it can still rebuild itself, albeit slowly, by harvesting materials in the surrounding area. There have been times when Baba Yaga’s hut has been made from a variety of scraps and patchwork materials, and with the addition of its many skittering legs, its appearance takes on a chaotic, almost protean feel, like a living thing. If this metaphor is to be taken literally, the mana reactor core is its heart, and if it is destroyed or stolen, the hut loses all its power and collapses into a pile of stones, twigs, and junk (also chicken’s feet).

- Description: Baba Yaga’s vehicle of choice for when leaving her hut becomes a necessity (this can be in case of emergency, a need for stealth and subtlety, or just plain boredom with Baba Yaga). The mortar and pestle she normally wields in her kitchen increase in size in an instant, becoming a witch’s staff and flying chariot rather than mere kitchen implements. The mortar can fly at speeds greater than modern commercial aircraft and achieve similar heights, while the pestle becomes a wand capable of amplifying Baba Yaga’s magecraft to a degree suitable for short excursions outside the defensive perimeter of her hut. Both can change their dimensions freely, allowing the pestle to extend and the mortar to grow larger as long as Baba Yaga has the prana to do so. While neither are exemplary Mystic Codes in and of themselves, their notoriety, utility, and synergy together makes them worthy of their rank as a Noble Phantasm.
