Description: The legendary power of all Gorgons that have gained control over their inherent magical ability. Any who gaze upon a Gorgon for long enough will slowly be transmuted to stone (or anything related to the earth) for as long as they stare. The process is irreversible unless the Gorgon specifically casts magic to reverse the process. The key feature of the spell is that it can be activated and deactivated at the Gorgon’s will if they are sufficiently powerful. Dormeria is potent enough in her ancestral powers that she can not only choose when to turn people to stone, she can also choose the shade and type of stone that they are turned into, and can even transmute them into gemstones if she takes a significant amount of time to turn them. The magic affects all beings of all races (excluding Gods), but the time it takes to petrify a target increases proportionally to their magical talent, and the spell can end up being useless against mages of equal or higher skill levels.

Weakness: The spell is only effective for as long as the victim is looking at the Gorgon.

Description: Magic of great potency and lethality that was sealed away eons ago by its creators for fear that the unjust would chance upon it and use it for purposes they had not intended. Dormeria gazed upon the future of a client who was destined to find the ancient magics and took them for herself, unlocking them only after almost a century of arcane rituals and blood sacrifices. The magic allows Dormeria to create areas of Twilight, both murky and bright, that vastly empower her allies and greatly debilitate her enemies. The power brought forth by this magic is great enough to turn the tides of seemingly unwinnable battles, and is extremely dangerous if used lightly. While in the Twilight, Dormeria gains strong telekinetic powers over beings of less potency and of objects for as long as they remain within the Twilight. The Twilight is extremely challenging to bring forth, requiring sixty uninterrupted seconds of ritualistic chanting and channelling, and can only be brought forth in a fifty feet radius sphere once every day.

Description: The once ubiquitous magic of the Sirens - Dormeria’s unique take on the magic allows her to use both her voice and her looks in order to seduce and enthral a target. As she is not a Siren she cannot directly take control of their actions, nor is it strong enough to compel them to do anything that is not of their free will, but the attraction is both platonic and romantic and is extremely strong - leading to many throwing their lives away at her whim or giving her treasures and powers that she should not rightfully have.

Weakness: The attraction is only that - attraction. It cannot be initially resisted, but can be overcome.

Description: The secret technique of seers all across the world - Dormeria is able to gaze into the future by use of a ritually prepared medium. In Dormeria’s case, it must have been consecrated with the Eventide Hallowing, and it must be either a reflective surface or a pool of water. The foresight is very powerful, but is limited in what it can show a person other than Dormeria, and it cannot gaze too far into the future. Dormeria is able to gaze into the past, but she can only gleam knowledge from an outsider’s perspective.

Weakness: There is no guarantee the information will be useful to Dormeria, and she is only able to understand things written or spoken in languages she can understand. She cannot share the majority of her visions.

Naruto: Birth of a Better Generation

The serenity of the eventide prior was one that had been untouched by the grisly news of the morning, and it was that serenity that one Senju, Kyo awoke with. Sunlight filtered through her bamboo blinds, dappling spots on her body with their rays, and this gentle push was all it took to awaken her from the peaceful slumber she had surrendered to. She had told herself that she would get up early so she could personally greet all of her new students - she preferred to be direct with them - and lay down the rules that they would live by under her tutelage. After getting up and getting dressed, she receieved the news of why she had been considered for tutelage arrived at her doorstep.

The idea that her tutelage had been called upon was odd. It existed in a strange dissonance between having been valuable enough to be called upon and yet the reasons for which it was called upon were for anything but its wisdom - and that thought was enough to snap Kyo out of the serene calm that she had woken with. Kirugetsu - someone she'd served with - had apparently snapped and killed two of his Genin before destroying all of his worldly possessions and killing himself, after declining a generous gift from Hosuka. Her cousin had asked her to step in to replace Kirugetsu, figuring that she was one of the few strong enough after the war... But that also meant that Iroh would be serving - if she was being considered for her strength, so was he.

"Fuckin' Iroh..." she muttered under her breath, before grabbing her breakfast for the day and getting dressed. It was a matter of ten minutes before she left the house, first stopping at the surgery of one Nara, Shio. With a simple stomp of her right foot, a single shoot of bamboo would grow up in the middle of the surgery, inscribed with the message that Kyo was going to be her new Sensei and that she was going to return in an hour to meet her in person. Kyo hoped that she was an early riser - if she wasn't, this experience would likely be terrifying and quite unpleasant. Even though she didn't know it yet, she was under Kyo's rules - and Kyo did not take kindly to lateness.

The process was repeated with both Kino and Kami, though Kino would be seen by both Kyo and Shio, and Kami by all three. Bamboo was grown where they lived, and inscribed with a message - if they had any wits about them, they'd soon realise just how much bamboo their teacher was going to use. She didn't achieve the title of 'Bamboo Sage' by not using bamboo, after all.

【Personality】

Kyō's personality is practically identical to the power that she wields - firm, unyielding, and vibrant. She is durable, persistent, and above all else a force of nature to be reckoned with when times are stormy and peaceful alike. Kyō is often seen as a figure of authority, solemn and stern, one who refuses to take no for an answer and brooks no threats to her dominance over those she considers herself responsible for - but like the bamboo she so well represents, she is also capable of great change, of forgiveness and of regrowth. Like Yin and Yang, Kyō exhibits both of these qualities, though her sterner side is by far the dominant faction of her being and she feels more comfortable in charge of a situation than being told what to do and this headstrong nature has often proven itself to be invaluable - battles are won by her force of will, be they with wits or weapons, and peace is ensured by her forceful yet guiding hands.

Like all things in nature, Kyō has been cultivated to embody immense strength in the face of danger and to fight fiercely, to protect herself and those under her wing. The fight continues each and every day, and while the foes and the scenery can change, the nature of the battle and of war itself does not - it is a constant within Kyō's heart and mind, and a constant within the world that is growing around her. In war there must be victory, and in peace there must be vigilance - it is these things that Kyō values above all else, though she prefers to keep the peace rather than fight for it. One day, when she dies, she wishes only for her sacrifice to be the stepping stone to a brighter future in which all of her saplings can sprout and grow. Kyō was raised in a world where war was the norm for a very long time - and the beat of the great drums still echoes within her skull with every breath she takes. It could be said that those who partake in war are forever marked, forever followed and haunted by those that they have slain and by the horrors that they have wreaked - Kyō is not one of those people, for she sees only the lives that she has saved, and the tragedies that she has averted. Perhaps in learning to do so she hardened herself, but there is a nobler self within her core that cannot be denied - even if it is difficult to coax out.

Duality and Dichotomy are two concepts that permeate the very fabric of existence, from the time we are seeds to the time we spread our roots while fully grown - and Kyō is no exception to nature's laws. Firmness and Tenderness exist with equal measure in her heart, but for two things to exist in a dissonant harmony one must give and one must take, one must succumb to the iron grip of the other, and it is tenderness that has taken this blow within Kyō's heart. The survival and sanctity of those beneath her must be preserved, at all costs, and the mantle is one that Kyō wears proudly and willingly.



【History】

Each person's past is said to be the thing that defines them, that binds them, and that inevitably creates the pathway for their future. There are those that follow this dogma imposed upon them by forces that cannot be seen or felt but for the effects their actions have on our lives, and there are those that make their own fate, choosing to abstain from the superstitions and wisdom that govern others. Kyō chose to take her destiny into her own hands from a very young age. As a female from the Senju clan, Kyō was important and very lucky to have received the gifts that she had, and her importance could not have been more drilled into her from a young age. There was no knowledge of the war that would inevitably erupt, but there was always posterity, especially within a clan so powerful and ancient - and these actions were what influenced Kyō's choices for an extremely long time.

Kyō was brought up to believe that the world was one of unfathomable beauty and grace, precious to the extreme, but fragile. It needed to be nurtured, to be cared for, and to be guided in such a way that it grew in the right direction, free from impurities that would leach its goodness and damage the greater whole. The burden of pruning the world tree was one that fell to everyone, but there were those that actively eschewed any notion of protecting that which was most important and there were those whose ignorance blinded them to greater truths, part of the problem without understanding what havoc they were causing. These people needed to be taught the ways and guided, protected, so harmony could be the prominent force of the world.

When war struck, Kyō was among the first to answer the call, offering her skills and her authoritative nature to the war effort in order to protect everything that she loved. Unfortunately, Sai's onslaught was far more effective than any defence that all among the nations could have mustered, and Kyō was no exception to this. She failed to protect that which she loved and cared for, and almost lost her life in the process. When Kyō awoke among the ashes of what she had lost, she fled - knowing that her survival was paramount to the culturing of goodness within the world. Even in the darkest days, her resolve remained true and she fled from the persecution of Sai's reign - teaching the broken remnants of good people what she believed was right.

Kyō’s efforts in the war were both great and the foundation of her future - she met Iroh, the Seismic Sage, upon the battlefield and was shocked to find that he was the first opponent she had directly faced that she could not beat. The two’s styles prevented the other from touching them, and after many hours of attempting to break through, the two stopped fighting. Many battles continued to be fought between the pair before the war was over, earning them a long standing rivalry but a begrudging sense of respect. Over time, the pair became known as the Twin Sages, heralding the start of a partnership that has lasted to this day.

Kyō did not dislike Sai's reign as much as she thought she would. There was a tenuous peace, and though it was brought about by terror and genocide it was peaceful. Culture was destroyed, but given time it could have been rebuilt. All in all, the time was not nearly as horrendous as people thought it would have been - at least, one who valued the good of the world above all else did not believe so. Even with that in mind, Kyō fought in the resistance in order to overthrow Sai. Her vision of a good world was not one where he was in power or alive - and she fought with all her might to ensure that the world could be shepherded into a brighter future. Whether or not that goal will be achieved is something only time can tell.

Description: The Ōku no Ne is a bamboo stick that has been tempered and trained for combat to such an extent that it is far stronger than the hardest steel and far lighter. Strikes from the Ōku no Ne are brutal, as the weapon is hardened not only by physical conditioning but also by a vast amount of Doton chakra, and in truth few weapons can be considered remotely able to deal with the seemingly simple stick alone.

The Ōku no Ne’s true power and namesake, however, lie within its ability to produce copies of itself that are identical to the original in every way except strength. For as long as Kyō wields the weapon, it is able to create additional copies of itself in order to provide Kyō with attack patterns and strategies that few other weapons truly can. Additionally, the Ōku no Ne is so imbued with chakra that Kyō is able to change its size to vary from its normal three feet long form, up to eight feet long, and its thickness can also be increased or decreased as well. The copies of the Ōku no Ne cannot change their size, and are the size of the Ōku no Ne at the time of their creation.

Kyō is an extremely durable woman, having trained extensively over her many years of life to achieve the peak physical form. It is exceptionally difficult to permanently damage her, and she seems able to shrug off attacks that lesser ninja would find highly detrimental and perhaps even fatal.

Kyō has a fairly large chakra pool - not so large as others that boast themselves as having incredible chakra, but enough to keep herself in a fight for the long haul.

Kyō’s chakra control is very fine, allowing her to waste practically no chakra when she uses Mokuton jutsu that affect her physical form, and waste little when she uses Mokuton ninjutsu. Her control of other elements is more lacking than the latter two, but is still fine enough to be considered good.

Kyō is an expert in her own unique brand of Mokuton ninjutsu, but struggles with other ninjutsu.

Kyō is a taijutsu expert, and is skilled in Bōjutsu due to years of use of the Ōku no Ne.

Kyō’s bamboo is extremely strong - several times more so than steel - and is almost impervious to fire due to a thick waxy layer that surrounds it.

For each hit she lands with the Ōku no Ne, she creates two additional Ōku no Ne and assaults the foe with each of these, continuing until a total of sixty four bamboo sticks have been created. If her opponent does not move from the spot where they were hit by the final assault, Kyō will strike them again with every Ōku no Ne created by the technique. This technique cannot be used while Visage of the Bamboo Sage is active.

Description: The user uses the power of the Ōku no Ne to immediately release 8 bamboo sticks from the first in a semicircle above the user. Then, by flowing chakra through the arms, the user accelerates themselves with a faux-Shunshin no Jutsu to hit the target with each of the sticks in rapid succession from right to left, dropping them immediately afterwards. The jutsu looks much like a bamboo “fan” hitting the opponent with a single sweep as it is particularly fast. The force of the sticks is quite potent, as the Ōku no Ne’s bamboo is specifically hardened for combat purposes.

Description: Kyō focuses her Mokuton chakra inwards, causing bamboo plates to grow out of her skin over the course of ten seconds. There are visible seams in the plates of bamboo that cover her entire body (except her head). The bamboo that coats her is extremely strong and is exceptionally difficult to damage by any means. The bamboo can be regrown through use of Saisei: Madara Nikkō [Regrowth: Dappled Sunlight] as many times as Kyō has the chakra to sustain it.

While the plating is active, Kyō’s movements are less swift than without and her mobility is slightly impaired. She is able to shed any number of plates at any point and convert them immediately into additional copies of the Ōku no Ne. The bamboo is exceptionally difficult to physically pierce, is resistant to most chakra-based attacks, and has a thick waxy coating that is impermeable and hydrophobic.

Description: Kyō slams either her palm or the Ōku no Ne into the ground, marking between three and six concentric circles on the ground with a green light. After performing the snake handseal, the circles erupt upwards, creating rings of stalks of thick bamboo (roughly eight inches in diameter), up to twenty feet tall. Enemies stood on top of the circles will be thrown into the air. The bamboo is exceptionally resilient.
