Kayfabe A literary device used in professional wrestling, kayfabe is the portrayal of staged events within the industry as "real" or "true", specifically the portrayal of competition, rivalries, and relationships between participants as being genuine and not of a staged or predetermined nature of any kind. Kayfabe has also evolved to become a code word of sorts for maintaining this "reality" within the direct or indirect presence of the general public. Suspension of disbelief, a ruse, a deception, fake.
In modern pro wrestling, the adherence to Kayfabe is all but gone. Few people maintain kayfabe and with so many fans no longer suspending disbelief and every Tom, Dick and Harry having their own wrestling dirt sheet or podcast the business has lost its shock value. One man trying to keep the business alive is the man known as Poetic Death, a 23 year veteran of the sport. Having taken a 5 year break from the business, he decided to make a return with a plan to make people take notice once again and keep it as interesting as possible.
The idea behind this RP is have fun with our characters in wrestling matches while showing the wrestlers out of character through the rest of the RP.
Planning weekly or Bi-weekly wrestling shows for our characters between showing the day to day life of the characters life outside of wrestling. If I can get enough interest in this, I will open a new thread.
