Why does it not work as a personal skill? It's not like it's a legendary weapon or a blade beam.

Because it's the crystallization of his legend as someone who used improvised weapons, and we have an A++ Noble Phantasm in canon that does something of an incredibly comparable nature.

NPs aren't just magic items, they're crystallizations of feat.
<Snipped quote by Unoedipal>

Because you said that Personal Skill needs to be a NP.

I said it would need to be an NP because it doesn't work as a Personal Skill.

That doesn't mean it's okay to have an NP all of a sudden.
Why does he have a Noble Phantasm when the whole point of the "shittier container" thing was "doesn't have a Noble Phantasm"?
And I will take B ranked STR and C ranked END. It's about the normal parameters for a Saber in the first place, and as I said before, Musashi was known for his physical prowess; he devoted his life to martial arts.

I'm going to level with you, since this is grating on my nerves.

If you can't accept what I'm telling you, then you really should stop this.

I went against my better judgment and decided to be nice just in allowing you to join. I won't feel bad if I take that away when you're outright acting like this.

"Hold his own" is a bit flexible. Coincidentally, Musashi liked flexibility. What it does varies depending on the skill in question.
The skill does not allow him to just brute force his way through things, because why would use use a rough sword that's a horrible idea. It does mean that after gaining info on a technique or better yet, observing its use, he can determine gaps and weaknesses in its use. By figuring out a work-around, he can force the opponent into where he personally shines: direct combat.
Admittedly, this does rely on my own ability to find gaps and weaknesses in a NP.

And I guess I'll tone STR and END down by a point each. Whatever.

Instead of pontificating around it, give me codifications. Let's use the example of Gae Bolg, Anti-Unit heartstab. What would he need to do to figure out how to "counter" it and what would said counter consist of?

Both of them to C.

So what I'm getting from this is that a hokey half-assed summoning can create a hokey half-assed version of a Servant, that is still tangentially connected to the original.

Given how Musashi is apparently going to be summoned with a hokey half-assed ritual, I'd like to it would fit the bill to a certain extent.

See my post. Either way it's irrelevant since I said Musashi was fine.
<Snipped quote by Unoedipal>

I also dimly recall Jack the Ripper and Alexander having variants.

Jack's based on class. The deal with Alex is ??? because Grand Order, so it's one of those "wait for GO mats" things like the rest of the bunch.
If I may offer my thoughts on the matter.

Dracula has been depicted differently in certain materials even when summoned as the same class (see: Extra Drac as opposed to Apocrypha Drac), so variants of Servants seem to be within the realm of possibility.

That's because Romania summon vs non-Romania summon. Vlad's explicitly stated to be special like that.
<Snipped quote by Unoedipal>

Actually it refers to "Like Water". I don't get why it wouldn't be allowed, since it's essentially a weaker version of Knight of Honor, with a title that suits Musashi.

Because it's a Personal Skill. If it was an NP it'd be fine.
So to clarify, playing a character that's literally a carbon copy of a servant is allowed, but playing a character that is figuratively a carbon copy is not?

Playing the canon character itself is fine. Copying a canon character's theme and turning it into your special OC isn't.

And on the other skill, Book of Five Rings is a skill that lets him hold his own against NPs provided he has prep time.
It ties into his real-life historical habit of exploiting weaknesses in enemy techniques and weapons, and also he wrote a book of how if he caught you doing this he'd kick your ass.

His combat stats being higher than Kojiro's makes sense because, historically, he beat Kojiro in two hits with a stick.
The high strength especially makes sense. Katanas are heavy swords, and Musashi used his one-handed to develop his dual-wielding style. Moreover, he's historically described as being physically very large. I recall his height being listed as something like six feet, which was tall for a Westerner, let alone a Japanese.

I want an actual codification. What do you mean "hold his own"? If I give him prep time can he dodge Gae Bolg or smash through Kavacha and Kundala? What does it mean?

Do you know how many Servants outside of Grand Order have A rank STR at base, at base meaning "not counting things like Mad Enhancement"? The answer is one, and she has a dragon roughly the size of the Fuyuki Park inside of her.
hat said, non canon variants of a canon servant would be accepted, right? I mean things like Archer Heracles, or Saber Diarmuid would have they been game, 'cause I feel it's a fair point

Archer Herc is fine since we know what stuff he'd have approximately.

Saber Diarmuid wouldn't because he's probably in Grand Order based on the new America video.
