Name: Alec Novak
Nick: Fafnir
Age: 35
Sex: Male
Rank: TBG
Icon: TBG
Appearance: Alec stands near 6 foot even, with a lithe military build and broad shoulders. His face is marked in several places by the pale, knotted flesh, indicative of scarring that still stands out ageinst his lighter complexion. Tired green eyes flank his pointed nose, which itself bares a couple scars and the telltale bulge in the bridge indicating a previous break or two. His hair is a chestnut brown and, while slightly longer than regulation length, never quite reaches his eyes. Finally his uniform is generally wrinkled and worn in a slightly unkempt faction, but clean nonetheless.
Personality: Quick to smile and laugh with comrades over a good stiff drink, Alec would be generally described as a friendly individual that tries his best to mesh with whatever squad he finds himself in. On mission much of his personality carries over, with him often voicing his opinion over the com system, especially if there is a joke to be made of it. In terms of vices Alec is what he would call a 'social' drinker, never to much mind you to affect his functionality, but he is often willing to share. In a lesser sense he also has the habit to always have a toothpick or some such object between his teeth, constantly chewing on it as if he had slight nerves. Now in terms of Mechs, Alec makes no secret of his fondness for heavy armor. Perhaps it's because of his already innate lake of subtlety, or he like the boom they make when their main gun fires, or (most likely) a combination of the two.
Background: Some generations are born to star a war, forever the sorry ones marched off far too soon. Other generations are born to end said war, forever the heroes who brought us from the long dark. Alec is both and nether, his generation was the one to fight and die in some battle that would only get name after it was over, to live and die within the war. Alec was born a little past the decade mark (15 years to be exact) after war began, both of his parents soldiers that were on leave from the front. all through his childhood, he grew up hearing and reading about the war, the news running a constantly updating ticker of the total casualties on the bottom of each of their broadcasts. With this much exposure to the horrors of war, it would be easy to guess that Alec would stay as far away from the military in his adult years, it would be easy, but wrong. As if spurned on by all he heard about the war, Alec joined the military as soon as he was able, going in as a normal ground pounder before working his way onto a tank crew. However, although he seemed to be a natural born tanker, the young soldier found himself drawn to the Mechs that they fought alongside.
Enraptured by them, Alec began working towards the singular goal of earning his own place among the pilots, bringing both his experience as a tanker and a foot-solder to the table to stand out among his fellow rookies in the program. It was during said training that Alec earned his nickname (which he later took on as his call-sign). As the class was conducting live trials in the proving grounds, an enemy mech somehow wandered onto the base. With most of his fellows powered down it fell to Alec and a couple others to confront the interloper, which as these things go, fell apart into a fire fight with large cannons. Of the fight there isnt much to say, the rookies preformed admirably and had the advantage of numbers, but Alec stood out among the others with the incident report calling his style of fighting "like a metal monster that just discovered it can breath fire." A statement that led him to adopting the callsign
Fafnir, after the Norse tail.
After this Alec went on to serve in a couple different Mech squads, command rotating him around like a pin ball, that was until he finally came to rest on the H-MAC he now calls home. What more can be said about the man who has spent the vast majority of his life fighting, truly what more need be said?
Odds and Rarities:
- He has a corn snake named Lind
- Has a bottle of very expensive alcohol hidden somewhere on the H-MAC
- Has a slight accent no-one (not even he himself) can pin down the origin of (and as far as he's concerned its the way he's always talked
