Morning everybody, before I get into any specific critiques, I saw a couple questions about weapons. Again, these labels are mostly just general guidelines to help keep things in perspective. Though if we were to use a UEE Sentry as a target dummy:
Superheavy: generally rated to deal with warships over MAS, can one-shot a Sentry easily, but may have difficulty targeting/tracking them if they are aware of it.
Heavy: generally the strongest type of weapon rated for MAS combat. Most plasma weapons and heavy autocannons fall into this range. I'd expect a Sentry to be put down in as little as 1, or as many as 4 direct hits. A plasma weapon or missile probably scores a one shot kill, something like a 120mm cannon probably disables with a single shot, but takes 2 or 3 to outright kill. A heavy weapon may also be a sooped up primary weapon- with better recoil/accuracy, increased ammunition capacity, etc.
(in this case, 'disable' means majorly impeding a mech's ability to fight- taking off an arm or leg, destroying power systems, destroying the head/targeting system all count as disables)
Primary: general workhorse or full sized weapons. A missile would probably disable a sentry, though it may not outright destroy it. A standard 30mm cannon would take maybe 5-10 direct hits to the same location to punch through a Sentry's reflex shield and armor. That number will probably fluctuate a lot- in practice a sentry probably wouldn't stand there and take it all, it would try to keep moving as much as possible.
Secondary: this category has the most fluctuations in damage. A combat knife with a plasma edge could conceivably punch through the cockpit and kill the pilot in a single hit- though getting close enough is an entirely different issue. Other weapons like .50 cal point defense weapons will do little more than bounce off the armor. 30mm 'handguns' would do the same amount of damage as the primary variant, but probably is less accurate, less durable and has less ammo capacity
I hope this answers some questions, I'll be taking a bit closer of a look after I finish a bit of work!
