How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

This is a reboot of Welcome to Vradia. More will be up momentarily. :)

A strange plague has begun to spread across Vradia. First, it was just a few individuals, then it took over a whole village. Currently, the strange illness is being contained with the Royal Guard setting up checkpoints throughout Vradia along the Trade Roads. Those that exhibit symptoms are taken away.

People that contract this disease first have symptoms of pneumonia but as they’re being treated for that, their skin, hair, and flesh becomes necrotic causing chunks of their muscle to fall off with the simplest of movements. Once the whole body has molted its original body, gray flesh is left behind as well as soulless blind appearing eyes. By that time, the infected person attacks, consuming whoever is within the household, however, they leave one victim behind to continue the disease.

These infected individuals can only be killed by cutting off their heads or burning them. Some experts believe that the person they once were is stuck within their minds as their body is controlled by whatever the disease is. Some believe that the disease turns the person into a mindless beast. No one knows for certain as no one can get a clear study of these infected without being attacked themselves.

The people that show symptoms, whether reported to village or town authorities or the checkpoints, are immediately taken to the nearest mage tower as the mages have been granted temporary protection in the public to allow these infected to be contained. This ‘protection’ for the mages is quickly camps built with poor conditions, nothing like the slightly better towers depending on which tower a mage was sent to.

About Our Characters...

Our characters are all apprentices of the current experts in different parts of Vradia secretly studying the disease for the Emperor. One day our characters wake up and their respected mentor has disappeared. Clues bring our characters together and find that the mentors are a part of a secret society, they realize that they have a duty to continue their mentors’ work.

Now your character’s mentor can be a parent, guardian, uncle/aunt, or whatever. Just that they are experts in their fields of study. These fields are combat, strategy, magic, apothecary/medicine, cryptology/zoology, and biochemistry/biology.

Each character should have some combat knowledge of at least one of the following:

  • single-hand weaponry (ex. sword and shield)
  • two-hand weaponry (ex. Great sword)
  • staff combat
  • dual-welding weaponry (ex. daggers)
  • archery/crossbow
  • Martial arts
  • traps

Your character can be at least two classes, max is three. For example, my character is a Druid with Rogue and Bard skills.

Your character can be Dragonian, Elvian (Elves), Human, Dwarf, Goblins, or Orcs. They can also be 'half' races too like a half-elf.

For simplicity's sake, if your character is a warlock, witch, sorcerer, or wizard they will all fall under the Mage title in Vradia. The Emperor and the church (called the Cleric) don’t care if your character has different practices, magic is dangerous and should serve man not rule over them. Again, those areas that are further from the capital are looser on their laws with magic, and magic is accepted more by the common folk.

One of the Eight Realms of Laelilon...

One of the Eight Realms of Laelilon. Vradia is a secluded realm isolated by the Western Rife Mountains, the Evergreen Forest, the Sea of Contenious to the South, and the Frozen Ocean to the North.

Our band of heroes begins their journey here in the small towns of Vradia's countryside.

No not anymore. Although, sounds like an ice storm is going to happen sometime this coming week. 🙃
Good! Sickness has finally been eradicated from my house. So, I’ve been catching up on house cleaning and laundry. I should have a post up later today and a reply for Lexi too! :)
I have decided a reboot is necessary. I’m not the biggest fan of Discord, although I do appreciate the suggestion. There is a recent interest from new people wanting to join. So, expect a new thread tomorrow. :)

Thank you to all of you that have stuck with the RP so far. Like I said in the beginning, this is my first time GMing in a long time.
@Vlad TepesI'm considering reopening. I Might have to do a whole new reboot though. Depends if others are still interested in continuing. We've had a lot of people drop out due to sickness and what not.

Edit: Thank you for the interest! I hope we can continue and add you to the mix. :)
@Damycles@Jamesyco@Ti@jasbraq Everything alright? I believe it could be either Damycles' turn or Jamesyco's. Either is fine. :)
Thanks, everyone! My house has been hit with sickness again, so it's been a struggle.
Sabrina blinked her honey eyes at the new set of notes given to her by her husband. She took a glance at the notes and tilted her head in confusion with the glyphs she recognized off the bat. 'Anubis, Death, Energy, Darkness? What an odd combination of hieroglyphics.' She thought as she served Cosette some fava bean stew with white rice and a glass of freshly squeezed juice.

"Prudente, le ragoût de fèves est chaud," Sabrina warned her youngest of how hot the stew could be, indicating for Cosy to blow on the bites she would take to eat it. She felt awful seeing the familiar glint of hurt in Theo's eyes. It wasn't like Sabrina wanted to steer him away from Thierry's work. The issue was that working with Thierry got complicated fast.

The dark-haired woman was about to spit out the sip of coffee she had just taken when Thierry agreed for Theo to join him. Sabrina raised an eyebrow at her husband. Her expression was less questioning and more impressed. Yesterday, he had instructed that she and the kids needed to stay as far as possible from the burial chambers, and now he was offering for their son to join him. Maybe he just needed some sleep, not that he came to bed very often. At home, Sabrina would often find Thierry asleep in his armchair in his study or on the sofa, usually with his notebook or some sort of paper in his hands. It was usually after the second time Cosette asked for a glass of water in the middle of the night when she would go check on Thierry, she always carried a blanket with her, knowing that he'd be out cold from exhaustion of studying artifacts.

Sabrina thought for a moment that she may have slipped into an alternate universe where her husband decided to include their children in their field research. He even asked Auri about her photography! She felt the need to pinch herself, refraining from doing so as that might be too sarcastic of an action in front of her children.

"I think a family picture would be very nice," Sabrina agreed with a smile as the family gathered around one another after Aurelie set up her camera. The mother had no idea how many times she would cry over this simple picture in the future.

Just before the family set out to the burial chamber and while the kids were getting ready, Sabrina gently touched Thierry's shoulder and handed him her take on the glyph notes. "They are discussing some energy field of sorts. One that seemed to be used as a power source. A power source for what, I'm not sure. They warn of how dangerous it could be to absorb such energy. One could meet Anubis if not careful or strong of heart," she explained with concern in her eyes.

"There's more to this job than just digging up artifacts, isn't there, Thierry," Sabrina stated more as a fact and less of a question. "We don't have to bring the kids. They'd understand. Auri and Theo, especially. If it could become too dangerous, they need to be aware of what's going on. " she murmured as she smiled softly. "We all do, Thierry. You know I don't like being left in the dark with these situations," the mother of the de Viller children reminded her husband as she could recount the times that Thierry left out information in hopes of protecting people got them in trouble, and that was before Auri entered the picture.
Working on a post. Hopefully, I will have it up by tonight.
@Estylwen Yeah, Sabrina isn't going to bad mouth Thierry. It goes against the collab conversation between Sabrina and Thierry that Lexi and I are working on. :)

Your response is understandable. I can see why you went in the direction you did. Great work! Although, maybe if you could edit it so that Sabrina was visibly upset with Thierry instead of bad-mouthing him, that may patch things over.

After all, I think the collab with Lexi will be after Nick attacks Cosy at the Louvre but before the gala.

At least, that's what seems to make the most sense at this point.
