Thwack! April smiled as her slingshot hit it's target right in the middle of it's somewhat oozing skull. As the walker slumped to the ground, dead for the second time she sighed at the lost soul that once was a human. Her mind flashed on her mother's face and then it disappeared as she smelled something in the air.
Raising up for a better sniff she looked around and over the hill. There was the charred remains of a campfire. Her movements smooth and agile as she practically leaped down to the campsite. It showed that there had been only a couple of people and at least one animal, dog or wolf hybrid possibly. She could tell it had been abandoned maybe an hour or so ago.
The tracks were pretty easy to follow, until they weren't. They seemed to disappear into thin air. April backtracked and followed the animal and picked up their track again. They seemed to be lost for a little while. April looked up ahead. There was a drop off and she had a bad feeling about this. She looked over the edge and saw a walker eating the dog.
Where was the other person?April whistled and a pit bull mix ran up to her. Affixing a note to the dog's collar she said,
"Go to Jain." April watched the animal head back the way she had come.
