I thought I was so clever, but no. It's working against me.
Using this website on my phone is incredibly disorienting, goodness gracious.
Name: Amelia Kersey

Super Powered Name: Lemur

Power(s): Wallcrawling (limited to rough surfaces), enhanced physical (agility, dexterity, durability), claws (permanent, from her regular nails), enhanced senses (including limited night vision).

Power Item: N/A

Appearance:

Allegiance: Hero

Personality: Curious and cautious are the best words to describe Amelia. She's got an insatiable curiosity and drive to know things, especially when it comes to something in her immediate environment. However, "curiosity killed the cat" has not applied to her for years, her cautious (and sometimes even timid) nature taking the forefront. Self-preservation and safety are high on her list when it comes to learning, so if she can't learn it from a book, she's not likely to pursue the knowledge. She has a strong sense of order, too, even if hers can come across as a little chaotic.

History: Born and raised in Grayshire, Amelia knew from the start that the quiet life she'd been born into was all she wanted. Sure, she had to go to the city to further her education, but living in a small town was comfortable and part of her dream for the future. Most of her time was spent helping her neighbours - the other residents of Grayshire - and volunteering at the local veterinary clinic. Her family consisted of her parents, her older brother, and her younger brother. Jacob, her older brother, had gone to the California to pursue a career in film, while their younger brother Terrence was still finishing high school.

When the Gray Bomb dropped, Amelia didn't notice an immediate difference. She felt overwhelmed, and the odor in the air was making her sick. She had hurried home to check on her family, trouble already brewing in the streets, and had discovered her father dead of a heart attack, and her mother trying to console Terry, but not coming close enough to touch him. Veins like lava were clear on him, and she swears her heart stopped for a full minute as she stood in the doorway, taking in the scene. She hurried and got a bowl of cool water and rags to put on Terry's skin, their mother hitting full-on hysterics as the faucet shot from its fixture and ricocheted in the kitchen. Whatever had been dropped on their town, Amelia had never felt fear like she did then.

Amelia wasn't home when the government's forces moved in on their town. She'd been at the grocery store, looking at nail files for her suddenly much longer, much sharper nails, and buying canned food in case anything was contaminated by the odorous gas. Everything fell to chaos so quickly, she's not sure who pulled her to safety through an emergency exit that had her ears ringing for a good hour after they'd left, but she wishes she could've gone back for Terrence. Her hopes have been dashed of finding him in New York City, hoping their catatonic mother had sprung to action and helped him, but her burning brother is nowhere to be found. Being in the city has Amelia constantly on edge, and she's starting to wonder if the claws she's gained aren't the only thing about her that's changed.

When he'd first arrived, Jackson had had his priorities straight. After hopping buses for nearly two days to get here, he'd felt grimy and unkempt (and not to mention trapped). He had immediately sought out a staff member and expressed his need to settle into a dorm immediately so he could clean up, grateful beyond words when she had understood and passed him off to a much sterner man. Some basic rules were laid out with a "here's a pamphlet, now hit the showers" leading to the professor's abrupt departure. The best part? Jackson didn't smell like the bus anymore. No buses, no cigarettes, and no crying babies. Just Jackson and his new college life...or so he told himself. The institute catered to mutants of all ages, so maybe it would feel more like high school all over again. The very idea of it had given him goosebumps; hopefully, this would not go over like high school.

At the very least, Jackson had been neither the first nor the last to arrive; he'd gotten in the day before, and students were still arriving. Tonight seemed to be an important cut-off, however, seeing as the banquet would be taking place. Delicious. From his perch on the back of a couch in the student lounge, Jackson laughed at the witty one-liner someone in the small group he'd drifted into had told. However, his attention drifted between the group and the doors that led in and out of the room. With each opening and closing, a new gust of air would bring new information to him, hushed conversations tickling his ears before falling into background noise again as the air settled. He could feel himself sit up a little straighter every time it happened, and it was beginning to grate on his nerves. Was everyone a straggler? Sure, there were two pairs of footsteps every once in a while, but it seemed like everyone was either entering or leaving as an individual.

Maybe whiling away his time in the student lounge wasn't such a great idea after all.
Ooh, I'm interested!
@ShieldsOfWar Maybe instead of a posting order, we could have a posting limit? Like, just restricting people from going back-and-forth a lot and taking over the thread? So just that people should regulate their posts and make sure they're not leading the roleplay with their character's ongoing interaction.
Alternatively, when we're making our first posts, we could use that for a posting order?
I think it really depends on what everyone's schedules are like.
@ShieldsOfWar You can quietly hear Jack & Jack going, "Wait, I'm rooming with myself? Sweet."
Looks good to me, though! I think that's everyone!
@ShieldsOfWar Ooh, I must've missed that part when I first read it o:
A banquet sounds fun, though! Nothing like bonding over food :3c
Assigning roommates would be cool, definitely.

@Wintergrey I'm still laughing over how we've got Maddox & Maddox, and then Jack & Jack - confused children XD
@ShieldsOfWar I think having them for a few days already to settle in would be best; they're not likely to have arrived all at once, so this at least puts them in the same place. There could be a "get to know your fellow students" sort of thing going on before classes start, maybe?
Forgot I was going to ask - do they share dorms? (And if so, are we going to sort out roommates?)
