He was going with real. By the moment. As the professor come down from what was sure to have been an excellent high. "Well doc. I'm gonna call you doc, live with it. So far, bumping into you has taken me into very.....interesting places. Can't see how sticking by you will do me wrong."
His grin rapidly mutated into his normal, devil-may-care-but-I-don't smirk. "So." Jinx shrugged. "Not leaving you. I mean....look, I like my rep. It's a good rep. It makes cops weep....so, uh, if I do split, it won't be here. Or en route. I don't screw people who've done right by me and mine."
"South sounds good to me. But I can stick around until you're ready to head out. Whichever way that is. Said 'us' for a reason after all."

Since you're...clear in the headspace now. Might as well get down to it. Like I said, putting some distance between us and the flatfoots might be a good idea."
"If uh, you're up for it." A small, almost unnoticeable note of concern made it's way into his voice.

Ah, I've got a ton of custom vampire ideas lined up.
Basically, I'm imagining cultured, somewhat obsessive collectors of knowledge and lore. Playing up the OCD part of the vampire myth a bit. Unlike the WFB Counts, they're not....they don't tend to be over the top evil. Their castles are as much giant libraries as they are fortresses.
Also a certain stiffness of thinking.
A count will pay taxes because that is what a count does for his lord.
If this lord has been slain for years and not replaced, and there is no point in paying taxes to him....
They still pay taxes.
Because that is what a count does.
