Bio

Occupation: Adventurer

RolePlays: My strongest is the dark and depraved. Fantasy comes in at a close second.

I've been RolePlaying since I was about 11 years old, starting off with Yahoo! Chatrooms before moving onto Persistent Worlds in NeverWinter Nights. I am a huge fan of RPGs in general (Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Earthbound, Secrets of Mana, etc.) and have recently rekindled my passion for RPing.

If we go by D&D alignment, I tend to play Neutral Evil or Chaotic Neutral characters. I have a proclivity for the weird and macabre (I'm a Lovecraftian) and love to explore character concepts and meanings. I prefer having deep lore and character development over mindless hack and slash.

Sounds like a grand ol' time! Thanks for the visuals, I appreciate it. I'll have something written up probably tomorrow. Need to think about an interesting concept that fits in this particular setting.

Oh, one last question. I assume the government is set up similarly to what you would find in Medieval Europe or more Roman Empire with a Senate type situation?
@Heap241

Interesting RP! I may indeed take you up on your offer.

Did you get inspiration for the house from the Winchester Mansion?
@Heap241

Thanks. Currently unemployed, actually. Construction job conveniently "doesn't have work anymore" for me so it has been a struggle, especially since I'm paying for school out of pocket for now.

I also realized I forgot to answer your first question in how I discovered my interest. To be honest, it started with roleplaying. Back when Yahoo! Chatrooms were still a thing, I roleplayed with this group of people who had god-like characters but employed a very perverted idea of physics. To be competitive in role play fights and general RP, I would study physics in my free time, going so far as to buying a couple books to explain things, chiefly among them Brian Greene's The Elegant Universe. If you have never read it, and are interesting, should pick it up. It was written in 1999, I do believe, so a lot of the nuances have changed over the years, obviously, but the general concepts still hold true. Of course, you can't go wrong with Michio Kaku, either. Or you can simply go read research papers! Haha.

If you ever feel like RPing, feel free to shoot me a PM also! One could do with more friends. :)

It was chilly that night, but not quite so for the wind was barely blowing. You could hear the occasional rustle of leaves as they were pushed across the paths but not much else. The quiet was serene. Welcoming, even. Not many people took the time for contemplative reflection. Their lives were taken over by schedules and meetings and brunches. Did they want a venti frappuccino or a grande mocha latte? The trivialities were as such that if you were to take away this illusion of freedom they would kick and scream, throwing a fit like an undisciplined child.

Kyle barely stirred as a woman entered his eyesight. She pulled the jacket tightly around her as she sat on the bench, knees coming together either out of modesty or comfort. His head tilted slightly, his finger gently running across the grip of the weapon hidden behind his jacket like a lover. His eyes had adjusted to the dark, natural night vision taking in all the ambient light around him. The woman had pulled the hood up over her head, so he couldn't make out any details of her face but he saw that she was a blonde before she sat down. There was a lamp post not too far away from the bench pushing shadows across the ground as if hands clawing at any who pass by. The branches swayed in the wind and whistled with trepidation. Kyle barely moved when he noticed another coming down the path.

The strawberry blonde-haired woman walked the opposite direction from where the first woman came, wearing a long overcoat pulled at her midsection, accentuating her assets. She slowed when she saw Ana, curious to see another in this wretched park at the witching hour. She continued, tho, the clicking of her heels against the pavement stones being the only sound that pierced the night air. She was a beautiful woman. Five feet five inches tall with inviting green eyes. Olive skin wrapped around a lithe frame. Her hair was slightly curly and bounced with every step she took. The woman moved gracefully toward Ana taking the seat next to her.

"Good morning." She spoke softly in a tone that dripped of honey. "Don't see many other people here at this hour... except them." She said, gesturing toward what appeared to be a homeless person clutching a worn coat over their frame. If one would listen closely, you could hear the shivers between his incoherent ramblings to himself. A city was built on tragedy. It forgot those that needed to be seen the most and cast aside those that needed to be embraced. Life was, with no reservation, cruel and unjust. After a brief pause, the woman looked toward Ana whispering, "My name is Victoria."

Kyle looked on as the two women sat together. He knew the second woman was his target. He had watched her for weeks taking in every detail about her. Her gait and graceful walk. The way she smiled and greeted strangers with a nod of her head. Kyle liked to make a game of it in his mind. Like star-crossed lovers reaching out to each other. In some distant past perhaps they could have been together, raising a family and loving each other. The reality of it was, this is how Kyle coped. It was as if he was writing a novel and nothing he did was real. The texture of the grip running across the pad of his finger spoke others. Silently, he moved from his position, cutting around wide as to not attract attention. He stuck to the shadows and watched the placement of his feet as he flanked the bench. This new woman, however...

It complicated things.
@Heap241

Haha, you're fine.

Physics is a term to describe "Physical Science", which is just the study of our universe. Of course this is an incredibly broad spectrum. This is why the study of it can encompass many different fields. I do believe Pfizer is a pharma company but a physicist wouldn't work with bacteria. That would be saved for those with microbiology or molecular biology degrees. I saw a job posting for Pfizer a little bit ago that required a mathematics or physics degree but the specifics escape me. Probably more in a support and data capacity. One of the main areas people go into with a physics degree is engineering.

If you're really bored: aip.org/statistics/whos-hiring-physics..
@Cuccoruler Zenovia is done posting for the day. Only other person who hasn't posted in regards to this is Laina. I think it would be safe to keep the narrative going.

@Hawlin Half the fun is exploring your own character and nailing down the personality. To me, as a third party observer, she seems to be more of a free spirit. She pretends to not care about the established order of things, but perhaps she truly does care in her own way. She is probably more an engine of chaos, infinitely curious and constantly asking "What If?" This potentially makes her very dangerous but also very unpredictable.

Just my observation, anyway.
Not sure what to do with Kaite's personality its jumped from edgy and stoic to big jerk to jerky clown that really just wants to be left alone.

Sounds a bit bipolar. Haha
Both equally. It always starts by looking at the visual world. I'll probably decide once I have a better understanding of both worlds and which I find more alluring. I'll also be looking at other fields outside of that to see which subfield better translates to the most exciting kind of jobs, whether it's in the medical fields or technological fields. The fantastic thing about a physics degree is that it umbrellas over MANY different areas. A masters in physics, you can work as a data scientist or for an engineering company like Pfiser.

Or a defense contractor.

Its pretty exciting.
Excellent! In that case, just a couple of questions:

How much of the 21st Century is still present such as buildings or gadgets or artifacts?

Do vampires and werewolves and the sort follow the traditional mythos in terms of strengths and weaknesses, aside from the already stated facts?

Due to the atomic wars in the past, how has this affected the climate, earth, and/or general appearance?

I'm trying to paint a better picture of your world in my head. Is it akin to Mad Max meets Dracula or is it more Penny Dreadful meets The Tudors?

Love the idea!
@Heap241 I realized halfway through my degree program it wasn't for me and instead of switching to something else, I stuck with it just to have the completion on record. Foolish of me.

I haven't decided but either astrophysics or particle physics seem the most interesting to me. I still have plenty of time to decide which approach I want to go but it will probably be one of the toughest.
