Standing at 5'0", Cardlin is considered quite short for a male of his age and is often pointed out on this fact. However, Cardlin is proud of his height. He refuses to allow people taller than him assist him if he is unable to reach something. He will climb if he has too. Though he does get put out when people constantly point out the fact that he is short. Cardlin's hair seems to have a mind of its own, preferring to rest atop his head in messy curls. He does try to tame it but it resists his every effort and so he eventually just gives up and lets it do what it will. His eyes are a bright blue that turn slightly gray when he is upset. Cardlin's physique could be described as slender and even so far as calling it petite. He has some muscles but they are lean and compliment his small body. He weighs around 100 lbs and doesn't seem to gain weight no matter what he eats due to his fast metabolism.

Cardlin is normally described as a kind and caring individual. He tends to put others needs before his own and won't hesitate to help someone if he feels they are in need of assistance. However, this battles for his desire to remain out of the spotlight and not draw attention to himself. He has a difficult time reaching out and bridging the gap between himself and others. Despite all of this, Cardlin has a stubborn streak and will not budge if he sets his mind to something. He's not one to anger easily and he tends to shy away from conflict, much like a turtle would retreat into its shell. Another trait of Cardlin's is that he has a bad habit of bottling up his problems. This stems from his previous relationship where his partner would always cut him off if he tried to speak about his problems and such, telling Cardlin that if he cared, he would have asked. Even if he is having the worst day imaginable he will still put on a smile and say everything is fine.

Strictly speaking, Cardlin should not be alive. After three boys, Cardlin's mother was warned she should not have anymore children as she had had problems when the twins Declan and Rion were born. But Rosaleen and Michael desperately wanted a baby girl. Against the doctors warnings, they tried for another baby. They prayed day and night and in August, Rosaleen missed her monthly cycle. Hoping against all odds, she went to the doctor and almost burst into tears of happiness upon discovering she was pregnant. When they discovered they were having another boy, they were disappointed but vowed to love him just as much. Throughout the pregnancy, Rosaleen and the baby were carefully monitored and thankfully so when Rosaleen went into labor on a cold December night, a good four months before her due date. It was a long and painful labor and there was a critical point where the doctors would have lost the mother and child if they had not preformed a C-section when they did. Both lived though Cardlin spent the first couple months of his life in the hospital on careful watch of the doctors and nurses. Because of his premature birth, Cardlin suffers from a weak immune system and can get sick very easily. He is also prone to ear infections and can have breathing problems if his body is worked too hard. Despite these complications, nothing stopped him from running around outside with his brothers.

The doctors had feared that Cardlin's growth would be stunted and his parents adopted this fear when he didn't get his teeth or much hair until he was two. As a child, Cardlin had always looked younger than he actually was and people in the shops were very surprised to see what looked like a toddler speaking in full sentences. However, when they started going to the eye doctor for annual check-ups, it was discovered that Cardlin suffers from monochromia, complete color blindness where the only colors he can see are black, white, and shades of gray. All in all however, he was a happy and bright child who adored his older brothers. His brothers adored him right back and didn't mind when he followed them around everywhere. Closer to his age, the twins were Cardlin's partners in crime where they got into all sorts of mischief. However, Cain was never far behind to get them out of trouble. With his condition, his brothers and parents did not treat him any differently. His brothers even tried to help by telling him what the color of things were; the sky is blue, the grass is green, etc. They even made a game were they would bring him objects like apples and such and he would try to guess what color is was. Cardlin was never burdened by his lack of color. Instead he accepted it as a part of himself and strove to not be brought down by it.

He had run into Sophie from time to time, sometimes literally, but he didn't talk to her all that much until the following year. When they started growing closer, Sophie was there for him even when his family couldn't and for that he loves her dearly. She helped him find the strength to leave a bad situation and helped him with the healing process, which may have included lots of ice cream and binge watching Netflix.

Just as panic was about to set in at the thought that no one would come to her rescue, she heard a voice yelling closer to her than the other voices she heard. It took a bit of maneuvering her upper body but she was able to twist slightly, enough to crane her head around in the direction of the shouting. He was a bit sideways but Lilia was able to clearly make out a boy across the river from where she laid, trapped. He waved at her before darting to the side and pulling his...clothes on? Why did he have them off in the first place? A thought for later. She watched with baited breath as he heaved and shoved at a tree until it fell down to make a bridge. Wow, he sure was strong. His journey across the tree was tense and Lily felt her breath catch every time he or his make-shift bridge wobbled. But thankfully he made it across without incident and darted over to her. Relief skittered down her spine. Never before has she ever been thankful to see another person in her life. She gave a small smile in return. "I'm alright. I don't feel any pain so I don't think I'm hurt, just stuck and I can't move this thing on my own." She gave an ineffective shove against the seat to prove her point.

As she spoke she heard shouting and looked over just in time to see a boy fall to the ground. Her eyes widened as she gazed at him, hoping he was okay. She breathed a sigh of relief when he climbed to his feet and made his way over to them. "I'm alright. I'm not hurt, just stuck and I can't move it on my own. What about you though? That was quite a nasty fall. Maybe you shouldn't move around too much just in case you hurt your head." Seeing other children gave her hope that the rest of the kids on the bus plus the teachers were okay as well. Hopefully they could get this seat off of her and they could go find the others and figure out what to do next. They obviously must have fallen down a hole they didn't initially see upon their descent down the mountain side so there must be a way out...Right?
