Cole
“Huh…” Cole had just entered the library and immediately regretted his decision to do so this early into the day. Granted he was probably about to save some of them from a taste of Gall’s scythe, but that just meant he’d have to deal with them instead. He rolled his shoulders and raised a hand, pressing his palm against the wall next to the door frame. Blue light surged through the space between the stones, quickly bathing the entire interior in its soft glow. It pulsed once and then several things happened at once, some of them unpleasant.
Everyone inside, although the oni probably only felt a fraction of the effects, felt a heavy pressure settle over them. Naturally the staff were excluded so they could deal with any troublemakers that did not cease and desist. A powerful supernatural suppression field was now active, and any attempt to resist the effects would simply fail or even result in pain if the person attempting was unfortunate. The ability to draw upon magic completely vanished for the mages within,
so unfortunately there was some body shunting that occurred between Meruin and Heather. The tags she tried to affix to the walls also promptly fell off and fluttered to the ground. As for the non-mages? Well they would actually feel weakened, lethargic, and their supernatural abilities unreachable. Naturally that meant
Melody was swiftly forced back into whatever her default state was. Since it usually took the shapershifter a few minutes to change completely, it wouldn't be surprising if the violent shift was rather... painful.
Well hopefully that had gotten the attention of everyone inside, but before Cole bothered to address them, he focused on the cloaked blonde.
“Huh…” This was definitely something new. There were barely any creatures that could resist the leyline-fueled barrier, but from the feedback he got it seemed that was exactly what happened here. He pulled his hand from the wall and the barrier fell away almost instantly. There wasn’t a need to keep it up since the situation had settled, and the last thing he needed was for whatever the blonde was to take his continued maintenance of the barrier as some challenge. If they did decide to keep acting up, he could always bring it back up in an instant.
“Alrighty, any more problems or do I need to throw people out? Alternatively, I let Gall get to harvesting because he seems pretty annoyed.” True to Cole’s word, there was a chill in the air that radiated from deeper within the building. Light seemed to shy away from the area, if that were possible, and there seemed to be the occasional and faint chime of a bell.
