Hey Mouse.... good post. But I do believe that there is a dead walker on the steps, as well as a person that had just been gunned down. The officer and his dog responsible are still there, and Daisy is peeking around the building.

No need to apologize, these things happen. My post was out of line with the timeline since I hadn't posted for a few days, so I had to cover previous stuff to get there.

Room for one more at the Asylum?

Name: Isabel Torrez

Age: 26

Height: 4’10”

Weight: 103 lbs.

Build: Isabel’s small and slightly curvy around the hips down. Her legs and torso appear equal measure compared to each other but much of her old body fat has severally diminished from both higher than her average activity and less than ideal nutrients.

Appearance:

Her eye color is a deep hazel, filled with energy and some charm. Even in the darkest times, they have that unwavering yet it could be an illusion after all or mere trick of the faint light. Her hair is straight and black reaching down to about an inch of the middle of her back, tied up in a worn, green scarf. Isabel hasn’t, like many other survivors, been able to keep good hygiene in the days that followed so her hair has collected enough grim for four days and need of a washing. During her younger days, Isabel did her own share of experimentation due to peer pressure or personal reasons including a tribal butterfly tattoo at the nook of her lower back and two piercings upon her body. The first one is easy to see, her navel which has closed up slightly, but the last one is best left a mystery as it’s in a rather…intimate place.

Family:

-grandfather: Admelo Torrez- deceased- died in a car crash at a young age in her life. So she didn’t know him well enough and any memories are vague, however she knows with his absence her grandmother Torrez had come to live with them.

-grandmother: Sachi Torrez- alive- was the other one, besides her sister Reyes, that Isabel had managed to save when Walkers attacked their home late into the night. Woman might be slow but she handles a cast iron skillet with much gusto and can be a force to wrecking with when her grand babies are dire need of help, Isabel had learned a long time ago fighting with this woman was like trying to outwit the devil: impossible.

-grandfather: Ian Kai- deceased- one of the first known victims from her family, her Grandpadre Ian was sound asleep before he was eaten by his own wife and others. He never knew what happened and part of Isabel believes to this day, the reason he died was because she had thoughtfully locked her door instead of just taking her medicine.

-grandmother: Jackie Kain-deceased- the very first affected by the virus which ran rampant within Florida, she was first confirmed Walker in Isabel’s family as the crazed woman, with others, had started to devour her own husband. Isabel still can see her grandmother’s bloodshot eyes and redden mouth snarl at her before they locked her in that room.

-uncle: Vicente Torrez (Uncle Vic)-alive- One of the survivors who Isabel and her group found at the hardware store, he currently runs the ragtag group during their attempts to evade the infected. He lost his wife and young son, the infant eaten by the earlier while still in his crib, then after the escape had to bash the eldest son’s brains in.

-aunt: Terri Torrez-deceased- Isabel later found out what happened, her heart hurt by the pain from the tell her Uncle wove about her Aunt devouring her young, helpless son within his crib. It chilled her to bone because unlike strangers, it hit very close to home and her cousin was so young.

-cousin Ambrose-deceased- Isabel’s eight month old cousin who was eaten alive by his mother, turned Walker after she investigated a noise like someone breaking in.

-cousin (son): Miguel Torrez-deceased-Turned walker after their escape the hardware store, he suffered a high fever then after it killed him had tried to bite Reyes. Uncle Vic had ended up bashing the poor boy’, only sixteen, head in until he stopped moving. That was when the hard reality of what little bite or scratch could end up doing to them.

-father: Carlos Torrez-unknown- made arrangements to take a trip to Savannah, Atlanta, where he was the primary driver until an accident happened. It delayed their trip back that very day and never heard from them since, Reyes believes they are dead yet Isabel tries to hold onto her hope.

-mother: Amy Torrez –unknown- With both her and Reyes trying to live their own lives, her mother thought it was ideal to renew their vows and take a vacation in Savannah, Atlanta. Isabel had gotten a phone call that day that her mother had been attacked by some ‘thug’ and ended up scratched before he was gunned down. It ended up delaying their trip while the hospital wanted to keep her over night for observations and infection possibilities, the usual doctor BS.

-sister: Reyes Torrez-unknown- Isabel’s younger sister and three years after Isabel, her sister is a deep part of Isabel’s life though they seem like polar opposites some times. Unable to get out of Florida, the survivor group had been pushed farther and farther south where they ended up in Miami. It was here, Isabel’s sister mysteriously vanished from camp one night. In her mind, there’s a faint possibility Reyes could’ve been at the asylum.

Other important mentions, none family members and part of the survival group.

-sister’s boyfriend: Mike Summerland-unknown-Other than him being at the Miami asylum, Isabel doesn’t know much about the man other what he looks like and the fact he’s very dangerous. He was smart enough to plead insanity which got him locked up for rehab rather than imprisoned for life when the dead body of his last girlfriend, Teresa Gerhardt, was discovered several months before the outbreak. It was a trial Isabel never forgot but despite the packing evidence, Reyes never believed he done any wrong.

-various other survivors in Isabel’s group gathered during their journey.

Personality: Isabel is a smart, determined and quick woman who can get attached people that she likes. Usually those who’ve not done any wrong to her, directly or indirectly, will find befriending her easily enough. She tends to be more of the moment type girl rather than plan out her future or realize the consequences of her mouth. A fact that has gotten her in over her head more times than she can count throughout the infection’s rampage. Some habits die hard she supposed and to her, trying to predict the future is outright impossible so why try?

Whenever she’s extremely pissed, she started to speak in Spanish. Very few people know what she’s saying and this makes it hard to determine if she’s cursing out the offender or merely shouting like a mad Conquistador.

Occupation Before: She worked full time at her family’s Hardware store, both modernizing it as well as learning the trade. Also a hobby painter, mainly landscapes, Isabel has made extra cash through selling her paintings to family, friends and even a few strangers who appreciated the picture’s “soul”.

Notable skills:

-Bi-lingual: Isabel knows two languages, English and Spanish. Her Spanish traces back to her great-grand parents who first moved from Spain to the USA, her family now slightly larger and more spread has continued this tradition of passing down their native tongue to each generation. Isabel, not one strictly stick to normal traditions, tends to stick with English for her most used language. However she will boast knowing more than one language has its perks. Especially when it comes to the looks she gets when her grandmother, Uncle, Reyes, and herself start to rapidly talking in Spanish.

-Slight Jack of skills: Due to her occupation in the hardware shop and her father’s insistence, Isabel has some basic knowledge when comes to tools. This includes but not limited to, repair and maintenance, plumbing, jury-rigging a temporary fix, carpentry as in hammer and nails as well as some power tools, and even some computer basics since her family was updating their old system. Sadly, this doesn’t include specialized skills like auto repair or things beyond house/building experience.

-Observant: Isabel has a keen idea for detail, both because of her hobby as well as her prior job, that she could notice many things. It could be something as minor as something was moved to someone’s habits abruptly changed, without a reason, and tells. However the latter is much easier after she’s gotten to know the person for a few days or weeks.

-Less than useful skills: She had minor experience in advertisements, enough chemistry when it comes to materials and knows what doesn’t react well with each other.

-Contortionism: Isabel is extremely flexible for her physical built, making it easy to hid in small crawl spaces and certain vents. As long as she can fit her head and shoulders through, she can crawl into a wide variety of areas to stash goods in buildings, open locked homes, and even escape zombies when she can’t outrun them.

-Sprinter: Able to sprint and fairly quickly for someone her size, Isabel can haul her small ass a short distance in a short time. On the other hand, long distances tend to drain her stamina rather quickly and leave her gasping for breath soon after. The reason is mainly because of her short legs, unable to eat up the distance effectively with each strive, and she can't pace herself well on her own.

-Bad Shot: Isabel’s not the best shot around, even with her father’s old shotgun. Up close and personal seems to be the only way she could manage to keep on target, mostly the gun was for show and thus she only learned the basics to shooting should the need been needed. God how she wished she now had went the extra mile and improved her shooting skills.

-No Hercules Here: Before the outbreak, she’d talked others in helping her lift extremely heavy boxes and such materials so Isabel's not built up her upper body strength to any great measures. Even for average, it’s slightly below the grade back then. However that changed in the passing weeks and she's made some progress, however it’s only average.

Bio:

Isabel Torrez was born May 16, 1987 in Palm bay, FL. Her parents were both working middle class, second generation Hispanic Americans. Her mother worked as a part time free-lance house keeper and her father had taken over the family hardware shop which left her grandmother, from her father’s side, Sachi taking care of Isabel beside her mother. It was an average one for the most part despite her struggles with sleepwalking that she seemed unable to outgrow. Her sister Reyes was born three years later followed by her grandfather Admelo’s death in a car crash when a semi collided after running a red light. She only vaguely remembers him but that was how grandmother Sachi can to stay with them permanently and helped in her upraising. Other than that, there’s not much to tell in that time of her life until her sleep walking began. At first her family thought it was a laughing matter. She would never remember it, each time varied from her sat in bed to literally roaming the house. It wasn’t until she literally burnt herself upon the stove at the age of 10, abruptly waking herself and nearly caught the house on fire. The doctor prescribed medication which eased the effects in hopes one day she might outgrow them.

Things got interesting when she became sixteen and involved with the wrong crowded, her teenage years and even a few into her adulthood were nothing more than a life time long party. It was at an unsupervised party where she both got her first taste of alcohol and lost her innocence to the football team’s captain who couldn’t stop bragging about his big score. Though Isabel didn’t care what others thought about her, her slight less than admirable image stained her sister’s and made her school life slightly difficult to bear because most boys expected Reyes to be like her. That drama was the less of her worries. It was a breeze compared to the shit storm a month later when due to a nasty combination of being drunk, peer pressure and her own determined nature, Isabel ended up with a navel piercing that’s to a friend’s brother. Of course her sister had a rather big mouth and that ended up with Isabel on parent lock down for over a month without parole.

Slowly over the couple of years, her lifestyle spiraled farther into the hard party girl who slept in late and hollered all night long. Unable to save up the money quick enough for a second piercing, her addiction worsened in the following years had dug into her pocket, a friend had paid but if she got it in the most intimate of places which she happily did. By this time, she was a fully grown woman though she acted more like a teenager stuck in time. It was only a matter of time before things got out of control. One of her prescription medicines for her sleep walking had reacted badly with her drinking and sent her wheeling to the ER, a frightening moment for all of them. When the truth was out, her family intervened and it took about four years in rehab to recover from her addiction. There was a times she fell off the wagon but in the end, she got right back on it by attending AAA meetings and counseling. It wasn’t easy.

During her time at the meetings, she met a fellow addict around her own age named Travis. They tried to support each other over the years but unlike Isabel, he wasn’t as willful. The worst part was he often dragged her with him. In the end, when she was twenty-five she ended the relationship and broke his heart. He ended up drowned in self-pity and loathing until he committed suicide in his drunken state, hung from a tree in his own backyard. His brother found him the next day. Needless to say, it wasn’t hard at his funeral to tell who blamed her for his death with silent hate and glares in her wake. She never did get rid of that butterfly tattoo they both choose when they first started to date.

Before the infection, she had dated lightly off and on but never became serious. Her sister on the other hand, had been seeing a guy named Mike who ended up in an Asylum in Miami Florida after he tried to the living shit out a man then plead insanity for it. It wasn’t hard as he already had a loco look about him that the jury approved and convicted him there. Against both their parents’ and her advice, Reyes still kept in letter contact with Mike. For the last year Isabel had been taking part time Courses over computer basics, small business, and a few others to help her family’s hardware store come into at the twentieth century for the moment. Life was normal for a while.

Up until the infection hit, then everything she knew went to shit. Unlike other cases, they weren’t hit in board daylight or where they could defend themselves. No, it was at night where they were most vulnerable. Her parents were away vacating in Savannah, delayed when her mother was attacked by a ‘thug’ then spent the night in a hospital which delayed their trip home that night. After the news, her remaining relatives stayed close with her grandmother Kain spending the night for a few weeks in a visit. For as long as Isabel can remember, she always locked the due to her sleep disorder and believes that was part of what saved her. She woke up abruptly and suddenly one night to the sounds of crunching and slurping. Confused and groggy, she slipped from her room and unlocked the door towards the source: her grandparent Kain’s bedroom. A scream later, Grandmother Jackie stooped over and devouring her husband, Reyes, Grandmother Sachi, and herself were quickly out the door. They took Reyes’s car down the streets filled with mayhem; panicked people screamed and flee only to be set upon by Walkers a short time after. It was a horrible memory to watch in the faint street light while they made their way to their family’s Hardware store.

There they met their uncle and cousin among one other survivor in the process of stealing supplies and taking shelter from the walkers massed outside. Uncle Vic took charge of the situation much to the small group’s relief then after they gathered what they could carry, mainly the basics, they made a run for the alleyway. They lost the survivor, an unexpected heart attack caused him to fall to the Walkers, and Miguel got bitten as a result. Her cousin was managed to be ushered into the truck where he was set upon with a fever, turned then tried to attack Reyes hours later. Miguel’s father was the one who killed him, saving Isabel’s sister and changed him slowly in the hardened survivor.

In the weeks that followed, each road they tried was either blocked off or infested. That fact along pushed them farther south to Miami. In their scavenging along a few of the smaller areas, they picked up a few survivors that ranged in all types and ages making them a motley group that drew strength from each other whenever they had suffered losses. Though some starved or turned into Walkers themselves, the situation could've been bleaker. When they came near to Miami, Reyes mysterious vanished. They needed supplies and more food, so Isabel and two other survivors, Ted and Burt, volunteered to head in on a salvaging trip where they hoped to find shelter as well as a few survivors to join their group.

Disability/Fear:

-ex-addiction to alcohol: though she’s been clean for several years, with everything that happened she won’t lie that she’s considered slipping back into the habit. With more and more shit crossing her path, it’s very hard not to give in and one day, it’s likely she will fall off the wagon. It’s only a question of when.

-sleep walker, minor: this little tick of hers, a disorder since she was young, pops up every once in a while when she forgets to take her medicine or doesn’t end up sleeping well. Which with the world in ruins is very often now days.

Weapon of Choice:

*Lawnmower Machete: Her uncle crafted it using the hardware tools salvaged and at the back of a cleared out shop. The blade is 13 inches; 18 inches total included the handle, with the blade tip slightly heavier to aid Isabel's thrust on the swing but light enough for ideal control. It has a handmade, coiled strap to the end just to prevent her from losing it.

*Old H&R single barrel shotgun with handmade strap

Equipment:

*Can hold up the same amount as your average backpack

I'm not the one to accept/decline your character, but I have helped tear before.

Anyway about your character, She looks good. you went in depth. But the backpack. That's where it gets a little sketchy. As I was reading through it, how are you supposed to fit a gallon paint jug with a 6X8 tarp and with a whole lot of cans and the roll of trash bags. They wouldn't all fit... at least from what I can picture it.

The cans nest inside each other, the tarp can wrap around the roll of bags so it only takes up about as much space as an oatmeal container.
The hobo stove is made from two cans but they fit inside each other, which fits in the paint can. The other soup cans could be laid on their sides end to end in the bottom, or side by side. Those can lay in the bottom of the tool bag and still have a good amount of room. The roll of trash bags is mostly used so it's pretty thin at this point which takes up even less space. Water bottle is on the exterior, so it takes no space. Not to mention the external pockets.pouches. I'd say she's used maybe half the space in the bag, especially since she's not toting around a change of clothes, shoes, or anything like that. You could also lay the paint can on the bottom on its side with the hobo stove in it, with the tarp folded up and stuffed on edge into the can, laid along the bottom of the bag like padding or a liner, or leave the tarp folded up and on the exterior side pouch. There's a lot of possible configurations to the bag.

Fallen and I have talked a lot about this character over the last week or two, and I've helped her with gear and even loot generation. I need to look at the bio and stuff more on my end.

Have you thought about putting something in the rules like I did in blood? I have it where if there's no word, IC or OOC, then the Player's PC is put into storage then after another week of no reply, the PC is eliminated/written out. It has only been applied a few times thankfully and helps keep the story flowing.

Tearstone, let me know if I need to make any changes or edits with Isabel. I'm really excited to get in on the game and meet the PCs, though I might have Isabel in a spot of trouble before hand. Not sure yet.
