Okay so I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with this idea I'm slowly creating in my mind...I've been pretty hooked on the TV show Once Upon a Time (am I the only one out there that finds Mr. Gold/Rumplestilskin strangely sexy?) and I know I want to do something with those characters...I just dont know what yet. I guess I'm asking if there would be more interest if we took the whole Storybrooke Curse plot and just kept it going or if we could all come up with something entirely new...what do you guys think?

-update-

So after thinking on this for a bit, this is what I want to do. I want you to chose a fairy tale character, one that isnt widely known or one that is the most popular. Thinking of someone? good. now put a twist on that character. it can be a twist some other representation has done or something completely new. once you have a twist, write out this characters backstory (at least a paragraph) and MAKE IT YOUR OWN. these fairy tale characters need to be fleshed out and realistic in order for this to work. an example would be little red riding hood. shes actually the wolf and the red cloak keeps her from transforming. I would then go on to say what happened to her parents and why she lives with her grandma eetc etc. (Not saying thats who I'm going to be, it was just an example).

Once people start posting characters we will be able to come up with our own tale...im very good at stringing characters together and creating plots and twists...so lets do this!

-update-

If you like a certain representation of a specific character (like, if you love the way Once Upon a Time did Rumplestilskin) then by all means use that character if you would like; just be as true to that canon as you can be.

I haven't watched the show, but the concept of the show did interest me. I'd be interest in joining, but I'd have to call dibs on a fire breathing, princess coveting, magic dragon...whose likely alternate is a bodyguard or something.

Meleficent? Lol Im pretty sure I decided that this wont be a Once Upon a Time canon since not a lot of people have seen it, but instead take the concept and make it our own. I want to stick to using canon-named characters but the creativity of the character is all up to the user. Just no drastic changes like making Mulan acoward...cuz certain things just wouldnt make sense for said character lol does that make sense?

In my imagination, I kind of think the kings in these fairy tales are paying to have their daughters trapped in a tower...I mean, they're are no people to tempt them from their role of princess, and by coincidence the prince or trusted knight happens to rescue them right when it's perfect time for them to marry. Clearly, this must all be set up.
*crazy head*
Another thing that bugged me about recent Disney movies is Tangled. Mother Gothel is clearly depicted as being selfish, yet Rapunzel didn't end up a raving feral child, though she had been stuck in the tower since birth...there were literally only three books in the tower, yet Rapunzel seems to be both thoughtful and even articulate enough. Maybe this implies that Mother Gothel taught the girl personally. Maybe, not so selfish?
*rants a bit more*
Either the typical tower-princess-dragon dynamic...or a Japanese-esque shape shifting ogre/oni from the Puss in Boots tale.

Agreed, hince why I talked about turning these characters realistic but yet still keep the fantasy feel of it. With the example of rapunzel maybe rupunzel isnt as 'innocent' as we all believe her to be and instead has a slight psychosis she adopted from what she learned from examining 'her mother'. Put someone like that in the real world, she would feel comfortable being alone, have major trust issues and have a 'bad' streak in her that she doesnt understand how or why its bad simply because she had no one elses input while growing up. Lol I can rant too :-D

The original tale of Rapunzel was mainly about being a foster mother of a little girl whose parents would sell her out for a vegetable, and then had later themes of teen pregnancy...

Any who, I should prolly stick to a princess...I've been on a male-ish streak for a while, and have little to no female character at the moment.

See? That is exactly what im talking about as far as coming up with fun and interesting ways of interpreting these characters. I usually go to the grimm stories for my ideas. Though if I do red riding hood like im planning ill be using the story and character from once upon a time. I may do Belle or Snow though...im really cant decide...or Esmeralda or Jasmine...just too many choices lol...so many stories I can tweak around with...

I guess I'll just go with the princess of the Little Mermaid...you know, the one who does get the prince. The difference is that the mermaid did kill the prince and returned to the sea, leaving my princess distraught...and vengeful.

Or, maybe...

Lol that sounds fun. When you have decided and write up your backstory decide if you want some details not to be revealed until in-game. These details you should pm me so I can still approve and try to tie into others secrets...

Any other info post here, and a realistic face claim is needed

Once we get enough intetested people we can talk aboit the modern-day/memory loss/dual identities/curse ideas and come up with a solid universe.

I'm claiming two princesses. The human princess of The Little Mermaid, and the princess of The Egg-Born Princess.
Ah, never mind...I'm just going to stick with my usual one, kind of sideish character.

Way, way, way, way side character-ish character. From Vasilisa the Beautiful, either the white rider 'Day' or the black rider 'Night', a male character...of course, I find the whole IRL person face claim very awkward, so I guess I'll just write a vague descriptive paragraph.

I have never seen the show either, but seeing as it is not canon, I am interested, if I can think up a good character concept. I was thinking about Tom Thumb, but he is a rather tiny character. If he could somehow live his life as a normal (though very short person) but have the ability to change back to his tiny original size, would he work? I know you want them to kind of fit into the modern world, right? He was supposed to have a shape-changing girdle (a gift from the Queen of the Fairies) and maybe that is how he can appear to be of a more average size.

I'm thinking, if this is cool with people.
Belle, the curse of the beast actually get's transferred to her instead of her breaking the curse because her and the beast weren't actually "true lovers." The only way to actually break the curse is for her to find her true love. BUT here's my twist, anytime she smells/sees/comes into contact with a rose she enters some sort of feral, beast mode.

Does that work for this or am I doing it totally wrong? haha.

I'm in, and I most definitely agree with you on the fact that these princesses either want to be kidnapped or the kings pay for it.

If I choose the white rider 'Day', his alternate is a morning new anchor. If I choose the black rider 'Night', he'd be a cop that has shifts only at night. I was going to have a love triangle involving the red rider 'Sun' (noon) and the two riders, but then I realised how ridiculous a love triangle is.

So...white or black?

A princess could long to be kidnapped and no longer have to live the life of a caged royal...rather ignorant of the possible consequences. Then, that's when the king would probably arrange for the princess to be held hostage in a tower by _____ mystical creature/witch...probably to preserve the princess's purity/virginity, till he finds an appropriate fiancé for her. There'd be a whole lot of dramatics as a front, then the jailer 'dies', and the princess feels like she has experienced more to the world...been kidnapped, realised how dangerous the world really is, becomes dependant on her fated hero fiancé.

I would play as the red rider, but without the triangle.

I would vote for Night.

I'd like to make John Henry. If American folklore doesn't qualify as fairy tales, I'll make someone else.

My brain is making up weird connections...
The riders being errant knights (white knight, red knight, black knight)...or the white rider being prince charming on a white horse, red rider being little red riding hood, and black rider being grandfather death.

Gosh, that was a rather depressin' story. If he's a real person-ish, I don't think it counts for this type of RP.

I'm in. My character will be a twist on the Cheshire Cat who's a illusionist/shapeshifter who can transform into a cat at will.
