"I am pleased to hear it, Lady Ayameko." came the reply, almost as if it were a practiced dance between the two. They were only as good as the facades they maintained, after all, and even the slightest mistake could have ramifications in the future far beyond the scope of the mistake. It was almost terrifying to think of the razor-fine edge upon which the hidden village's politics so neatly rested upon, but it was very clear that each player in the great game was of considerable skill - Takumi, Ayameko and Touzoku included. Each had a role to play, and each played it perfectly.

With the offer of wheat, Takumi picked his book up and begun to flick through its pages with practiced precision, before stopping over some precursory notes on the likelihood of what Ayameko would offer in trade. He'd been right about the product, but his math of quantities had been very slightly off - perhaps the harvest was better than expected, or perhaps Ayameko wanted the iron quite badly. It seemed from her previous statement that the former was true, so with an imperceptible smirk he continued to rifle through the pages, briefly mumbling words that sounded like calculations under his breath as he worked out the value that he could squeeze out of Ayameko's offer. It was fair, but Yamagakure was in no need of wheat, and a quick glance at his notes on the situations of the other villages indicated that they were not particularly wanting of wheat either. It was a fairly staple crop.

"I'm afraid, Lady Ayameko, that wheat is not currently something that we are able to trade for - it is something we too have grown a plentiful amount of this harvest. I would be able to accept the equivalent value of the wheat in oats, or perhaps there is something else you wish to trade? I could also switch the shipments of iron and we could reduce the amount of oats accordingly, if you would find that more acceptable?" He spoke, peering up from the book at the last few words. His left hand idly reached across to the quill on his section of the table, dipped it into the pot of ink nearby, and began to make calculations outside on the paper. They were largely meaningless, but he had long known of Touzoku's impressive abilities - he could not hide anything that he was writing down from her. Still, he was only writing down the possible projected profits - they were reasonably high, as perhaps was expected of the Treasurer.

Ayameko

"We can do an increased offering of oats to take the place of the wheat," Ayameko replied in agreement, knowing the oat harvests would be just as good this fall. "I can provide some of the wheat to the Land of Earth and Wind's reconstruction efforts if so."

She smiled warmly at him, "I appreciate your flexibility on the manner Takumi. Those suffering in the other Lands will be most appreciative the alternative trade. If that settles the matter, I'm sure we both have other duties to attend to."

Ayameko put her left hand out, Touzoku her right and allowed Ayameko to pull herself upwards using Touzoku's arm.

"I must say that these old bones don't move around quite as easy anymore, dear Takumi. You have much to look forward to in your later years," Ayameko laughed. Both Kei and Touzoku smiled at the commentary. "We will have to do this again Takumi, it was, yet again, another experience to be put into memory. Maybe next time somewhere with some tea or something. Are our countries not well enough aligned that you could do an old woman some service and hold these meetings within our lands? Travel can get quite tiring."

"Yes, if we trade oats..." Takumi began, mumbling to himself as he leafed through more of the pages of his book, before settling on a page and skimming its contents briefly.

"If it would be beneficial, Lady Ayameko, some number of the oats could be reduced in exchange for some of your country's famous spices? They were much appreciated when we got them last, and several people have asked for a restock. If not, while a shame, the agreed trade is perfectly acceptable." he replied, nodding curtly, before standing up as Ayameko did. The trade required only one more word - either a yes, or a no. Their business was largely concluded with regards to more complex sentences.

"You are still a shining example of health, Lady Ayameko, and I only hope to be nearly as spry as yourself when I enter into my later years." He smiled, along with the other two, before raising his right hand and snapping his fingers. His entourage of followers that had been seated behind him stood up and turned to leave, talking among themselves about the preparations for transporting the requested goods to Kyokujitsu. Ayameko was perhaps the only trade partner that Takumi felt comfortable sending goods in a delayed fashion to - Ayameko rarely used currency in her dealings, and she had always been a fair and reliable trade partner - others did not have nearly so pristine a record.

"If you wish for me to come to Kyokujitsu in order to further discuss things, Lady Ayameko, it would be my pleasure. I would be happy to afford you a degree of comfort. I would be happy to accompany you back now if there are things to be discussed - and even if not, it has been too long since I spent time in your lovely village. I believe I have some things to discuss with regards to switching to Kyokujitsu's brand of currency, anyway? The value of gold is no longer as stable as it once was, and your system is remarkably difficult to forge. I believe it could benefit both of our countries greatly, Lady Ayameko." Takumi smiled, warmly meeting Ayameko's gaze. It never hurt to invest in goodwill, even if the two were only being friendly for the sake of appearances.

The young Uchiha felt quite lost, she doesn't want to admit that she didn't use her head on such situation and all she could answer was, "Oh yeah!." with the usual teenager expression, directed to Shadan and followed by answer to the new fellow, "Well.. Nice seeing you here." She smiled.

Can't blame her for having a tad bit of bad social skills, Homura admitted, "I just happen to overheard your conversation about vegetables and I was wondering if the finest veggies can be found here, Mr.Shadan and maybe later I can follow up Lord Ayameko." She said feeling a bit stupid.

Three years of not being the village sure does have its nostalgia, things that distort your mind because you think it was there or not but it's not actually there, Homura didn't wanna embarrassed herself in front of professional people

"Thank so much for your trust!" Allia restored the weapon, and bowed deeply as was polite and modest for a woman wearing a dress like hers. Her face was flush with the joy of the gallant trust that had been placed in her. "I won't let you down!"

Turning to Homura, Allia commented with a pat on Zilant's neck, "If you need to catch up somewhere, let me help. Zilant is fast and tireless." Zilant smiled once again, in his mildly intimidating toothy dragony way, at the compliments. The proud dragon was always happy to be recognized. "Faster than most flyers from Yamagakure over long distances!" True. While no match for the absolute fastest, thanks to the Sword of Sheol Zilant did not tire and could fly near his maximum speed for days on end. He could fly from one continent to another without touching ground, given good winds. Though he would be mighty hungry by the end.

"And he's not neeeeearly" Allia drew out the word as she scratched for one of his ears, "as particular about girls riding with me as he is about men.." Zilant, though turning his neck into the scratch and clearly enjoying himself shook her hand off as he realized her point. His voice grumbled out, "Proper behavior is not a laughing matter, Allia." Turning to Homura, Zilant stared at the slightly diminutive figure, at least diminutive from his perspective. A sniff later, he sought eye contact and spoke again, "I would permit you to ride on me with Allia.." His smile returned, the curls of his lips ever so swiftly unveiling his teeth, "If you are bold enough, little one."

Suishō and Shadan

"Do not worry, Miss Homura," Shadan spoke, laughing with the depths of his gut, "I too have found myself lost in the beauty of our country, do not be ashamed, for you are proud of your homeland and you've just proven it. Wear it like a badge of honor."

Suishō sighed at her husbands speech, "I think you are trying to read too much into this. She just got lost."

"Bah, my love, You can see Miss Homura's pride on her face. There is no doubt."

She just shook her head and left that matter at that.

"Miss Homura," Suishō commented, "If you wish to return to Kyokujitsugakure, you will have to return to the nearby village or take Allia up on her offer. If you go to the village, you can use one of the Keiyu-chi to arrange transit. Since I doubt they'd be pleased by the request, if you need, just tell them Shadan sent you. They like him enough they'll preform the Sōshin."

The Sōshin was the technique utilized to activate the Keiyu-chi, the transportation system developed for quick movements of people from one side of Kyokujitsu no Tochi, to the other. They were only used for important situations, as Time-Space manipulation was not only energy consuming, but potentially dangerous. While they had gotten them down to a safe standard, Time-Space manipulation was inherently risky given that it was the complete transmission of a human body. Without utilizing something like a Reverse Summoning, which required a significant amount of distribution of physical resources as well, it required the opening of what was essentially a gateway from one Keiyu-chi to another. How the system worked, as well as how it operated, was very much a secret. The names, however, would mean nothing to Allia, so there was no harm in mentioning them to her, especially in the context she was speaking.

"Lady Allia," Shadan spoke, softer than usual, "If you are heading to the capital, could you please take a letter with you? Our eldest is at the capital, training in the academy. we haven't seen him in months."

Suishō nodded, indicating she as well was making the request. Between the two of them, they had three children. Two boys and a girl. The eldest was 16 and potentially up for graduating the academy. Their younger boy was 10, training with some of the Border Guard before leaving for the academy himself in three months. Their daughter, the youngest and their baby, was a mere 6 and still exploring the wonders of the world around her with a zeal that only those that young could have.

Ayameko

"I am deeply flattered," she smiled, once again opening her palms to him.

"That would be up to you," Ayameko replied, a slight bow to indicate the end of their formal meeting and the agreement of their current deal, "For now, I cannot be certain on the spices, so the oats will have to be the agreement. As for the currency, that will have to be a very lengthy discussion. Our process is overseen by the ambassador, Taishi Chiyoko, as the technique is of her creation. I'm not sure that she is willing to divulge the secrets of the creation, but I will say that she has created a successful and honest currency. We will have to talk at your convenience, thus your visit is your choice."

Ayameko knew how Kyokujitsu no Tochi's paper currency was made, but it was not her technique. While Ambassador Chiyoko created the technique, the Yuki family was heavily involved with the creation of the currency. Utilizing the techniques from both parties, they were able to develop something the people could believe in. It was a very complex technique, utilizing the manipulation of HItodama in conjunction with a specially created scroll, which kept the currency honest in the form of a complex connected contract with numerous failsafes and safeguards. It was rather ingenious creation and it had helped stabalize Kyokujitsu's economy decades ago when they suffered through the initial growing pains. A national currency that could be utilized by all of the territories had been incredibly important in fostering a sense of cooperation between all of the parties, as well as spur on honest economic growth.

It was one of her greater successes - heralding in the economic success that she had. They generally had enough of a supply of what they needed to allow their people to purchase not just what they needed, but what they desired. There were always items available, waiting their buyer, even if their nation took a more practical stance on the subject of trade. Of course, customs was very careful about what items did get in - they did an excellent job of screening, largely in part to the usage of the Senkensha, who were far more valuable than some gave them credit for.

"If you do come to Kyokujitsgakure, we will have to find time to meet as a group. I cannot be certain if I will be able to be at the beginning of any proceedings, as I have committed some of my time in the South. We are suffering from some slow growth of our crops down there and I have been asked to come advise. I do not think that trip would be that interesting, but Taishi Chiyoko would be likely able to talk with you while I am absent and we can meet as a group after then."

“Ezo, you better be sober because you’re scheduled to speak with the generals in an hour!”

Mayonaka Arashi banged on the door to the Tsuchikage’s office twice before letting herself in. Ezo hadn’t come home last night, so she figured he must have spent the night working. As a result of spending most of the days slacking off and avoiding work, he sometimes was forced to stay up all night catching up on things that he needed to take care of. He hated wasting good days inside.

The office was empty, the window open, and papers were blowing off of the desk to cover the floor. That stupid man was MIA again. Setting down the stack of paperwork she had brought and closing the window, May screamed a stream of curses at the top of her lungs. Those working in the floors below either laughed or rolled their eyes, it not being at all unusual for the Tsuchikage to do something to earn his daughter’s frustration. Once she got that out of her system, May sat down and began forging her father’s signature, again. “I swear I’m going to kill him. One of these days, he’s just going to disappear and not show up perfectly fine hours later, and I’m going to have killed him. It’s that simple. Either I’m going to kill him, or he’s going to kill me.” She ranted under her breath about the various ways she could do it for exactly fifty-five minutes, at which time she contacted the generals and informed them that the kage was dead. – They took it far better than she had hoped. This was after all only the ninety-fourth time she had told them of his passing. – That done, she resumed working her way through the stack of papers on the desk, and then on the floor, and then on the wall, and then on the papers that had slipped under the door, and then on those that had blown out the window. By the end of the day, May Arashi had come up with the perfect way to kill the kage.

Looking up from her work, May was surprised to see how late it had gotten. Ezo did like to let his paperwork pile up. Leaving the completed forms to be collected, she opened the window, closed the door, and left the office exactly as it had been when she’d arrived, minus the layer of papers covering the floor.
Ezo was nowhere near Iwagakure that morning, waking up laying in a grassy field many miles southwest of the city. He stood and stretched, and then he sat and waited. Fenrir’s silhouette appeared atop the nearby mountain ridge about an hour later, and soon after the great wolf loped through the waving grasses towards Ezo.

“You’re awake,” the wolf said, its mouth somehow forming the words as easily as any human’s would.

Ezo pulled himself up to sit on the top of Fenrir’s paw. “Yeah, I’m awake. Where were you just now?”

The wolf walked through the grasses that didn’t even come up to the top of its foot, great slow strides covering distance deceptively fast. It didn’t answer, ignoring the asking entirely.

“We going back to the city now?”

The wolf just kept walking, in a direction that was decidedly not towards Iwagakure.

“See you then,” the kage said, hopping off of the wolf’s paw, touching the ground for a second, and blurring as he took off for the city at blinding speed, the grasses pulling towards him as he ran. He would just count this as his morning exercise. He stopped and turned suddenly. “Hey, there was something I wanted to ask you!” He was too late though, the wolf’s tail was already disappearing over the distant mountains. “I know you can still hear me,” he whispered under his breath, something the wolf would still pick up. Fenrir could pick up Ezo’s voice easily over vast distances and over louder sounds. He just wasn’t nice enough to turn around for a chat.

Ezo made good time back to Iwagakure, covering the distance before the sun had risen to its height in the sky. He checked in on the office first, peering through the window at May. She was pacing around the room, apparently speaking to someone. She was speaking to… Sh-something. Ezo for the life of him couldn’t remember the name of the young blonde girl his daughter was speaking to, though he himself has spoken to her on multiple occasions. He hadn’t spoken to her informally, but he’d spoken to her as she had relayed his words to the sensor ninja at each of the general’s locations. He was really disappointed in himself for not remembering her name. It wasn’t often he got to spend hours alone with a pretty young thing like her. May turned to look out the window, as if somehow sensing his train of thought. She resumed her speaking to the sensory ninja.

“- and that is why I have come to the conclusion that he can only be dead.”

Ezo furrowed his brow in confusion, still pressed against the side of the building from dodging her gaze. Who was dead? The blonde girl told May that the people on the other side of the communication were laughing. Damn it, she was telling the generals he was dead again. Did she have to do that every single time he was late for the update meeting?

From the size of the stack of papers on his desk, Ezo figured May would be bust for at least another three hours. Might as well see what the town was up to. The kage took a gulp from his silver flask and dropped down onto the street below, waving back at the people working inside the lower level of the large building. They would be used to seeing him drop down from above, either fleeing may or avoiding work as usual.

“Hey Koroshi,” Ezo greeted the large man who ran the best open bar in Iwagakure. “I’ll take the usual.”

“Ezo, aren’t you supposed to be working right now?” the man boomed back. The two shared a laugh at that. Ezo had gotten to know Koroshi quite well since coming to Iwagakure, even before becoming Tsuchikage, and he was a good friend. The two sat and talked for a while, not really about anything important, just talked, as Ezo drank his bowl of ramen dry, filled the bowl of just noodles with beer, and then ate it. That was “the usual” for him, and even after years of pestering Ezo couldn’t get his friend to add beer ramen to the menu.

Ezo got up to leave, hurling his empty bowl at the bar owner’s turned head. Koroshi caught it with one thick hand, and then yelled at Ezo, “Hey you know the rules, I don’t accept your money here! It’s no good anyway!” Sure enough, the money the kage had left on the table vanished as he walked away. “Damn wolf,” he said. Setting the thrown bowl down, Koroshi was surprised to see that it was filled with money, though how Ezo had managed that he hadn’t the slightest idea. Usually he just paid later, when he managed to pry some of his money from his daughter’s hands. “Damn wolf.”

Ezo visited the academy next, making it just in time to join the youngsters as they practiced their clones. He snuck up behind one boy that was having particular trouble. He remembered when he was like that, though he had been quite a bit older when he had entered the academy, so maybe not quite like that. He grabbed the boy’s shoulder, making him jump.

The boy’s eyes grew wide when he saw who it was. “Hello Mr. Ezo Kage sir,” he said. Ezo almost gagged at the formality coming off the child.

“Ezo. Ezo is fine. Now come on, try your clone again.” Ezo knelt behind the boy as he concentrated on making another dud clone. He truly was terrible at it. The boy seemed frustrated, and nervous, but mostly frustrated. “Come on, try again. This time let me guide you through it. First, close your eyes. When you’re just beginning it helps you concentrate on what you want it to look like.” The boy shut his eyes tight. “Now, imagine a mirror, and look into it at yourself. Remember what you look like, down to the smallest details. When you have the image in your mind, focus your chakra into filling that image, like you’re pouring water into a jar shaped like you. Then all you have to do is make it appear. Easy enough? You can open your eyes now.”

The boy opened his eyes, and was shocked to see himself standing next to himself. He waved at the clone, and it waved back, and then it disappeared in a poof. The boy jumped up and down, all his frustration and nervousness gone. “Thank you mister Ezo sir! It worked! It worked!”

Ezo had to pry the boy away. “Very good, very good. I don’t think you’ll have any trouble with that from now on.” The boy thanked him a few more times as the kage walked away from the academy.

Ezo was stopped by the instructor, a young man with unnervingly bright green eyes that seemed to glow in the mid-day shade. “You know, that doesn’t always work.”

Ezo pointed at the boy he’d helped, now creating and maintaining his clone on his own, doing just as well as the rest of the class. “But it did in this case. He has the skill down, just not the mindset. All I did was give him confidence.”

The instructor stared the Tsuchikage down with his unnerving eyes, and then he walked back towards his students, seeming to disappear from where he was and reappear where he was going. That man was an odd one, that was for sure. Also among one of the most skilled ninja in Iwagakure. But damned if his eyes didn’t put Ezo on edge.

When May got home, she found Ezo already there, turning a whale of a fish over a roaring bonfire. “Where were you today?” she asked, completely calm.

“Fishing.” It wasn't a lie; he'd seen something big in the river and had shot it with his crossbow. That was kind of like fishing. Ezo didn't recognize the type of fish he'd caught. It was probably still good for eating.

“I can see that,” she retorted as she poured two cups of tea. One she handed to Ezo and drank the other herself. “I’ve reconsidered the event of your death.”

Ezo downed the cup of tea in one go, having sat beside a roaring fire for the past two hours without moving. “Oh?”

“Yes. I’ve changed how I am going to kill you from burying you alive to poisoning.”

Ezo raised an eyebrow at that. “I’d wondered when you would. I mean, do you really think a prison of earth would work on the kage of the Land of Earth? Refill please.” He held out his cup for more tea, which she poured.

“Oh, and don’t worry, I poisoned the beer, not the tea.”

Ezo sighed, continuing to turn the fish. The clone that appeared in front of him voiced his real feelings.

“WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!” The clone vanished.

May continued, ignoring the clone outburst. “Did you read the report from the Wind Farm? The new outlook puts the Land of Wind producing surplus in five year’s time. That’s three years ahead of schedule from the last outlook.”

Ezo leaned back in his seat, a small smile on his face. “That’s good. Maybe those freedom protesters will quiet down if I show them that.” He sighed, an unusual exhaustion falling around him. “Can’t they see that they aren’t yet strong enough for independence?” He brushed aside the negative airs with a shake of his head. “And what of our neighbor?”

“The sensors’ reports indicate that the Sankage is currently outside of the nation’s borders. Whether she's in meeting with Yamagakure or the Land of Water is unknown. Regardless of which one, that could be dangerous. Even the Land of Earth would have a difficult time defending from a joint effort of Kyokujitsu no Tochi and Yamagakure. And if it's the Land of Water... um...”

"Go on, what if it is the Land of Water?"

"If it's the Land of Water, then I'm not sure how that would effect the Land of Earth and Wind. I mean, would it?"

"Alliances always send ripples out, but you've hit the nail on the head this time. There is no feasible way for the Land of Water to attack us, and even if they cut off all trade with us, we would survive perfectly well. The only reason the Sankage would ally with the Land of Water would be trade... assuming she wouldn't dare attack Yamagakure." He seemed to stop at the thought. May could see his mind building up the dominoes that such an action would send toppling. His mind wasn't good with the small issues it was presented with, but this, this was what it understood perfectly. "It’s likely nothing to worry about,” Ezo said. “The fish are too busy trying to outmaneuver the others to even think of the possibility.”

“It would be a perfect time to make a move on Amegakure,” May commented.

“Now you’re contradicting yourself. If the Sankage got news of a play on my part to take land from her nation while she’s meeting with the leaders of Yamagakure of the Land of Water, that would almost guarantee an alliance between the two.”

This quieted May. He was right, again. “I’m going inside,” she said, standing to go. The fish wouldn’t be done for another hour or so.

“Can you toss be a beer?”

She did, closing the door behind her so as not to be disturbed if he started thrashing. May sat down in her room and began filling her ledger with the day’s work. Some girls wrote down their thoughts at the end of the day. She did too, but her thoughts kept a country running. May heard her father yelling something from outside. “What was that?” she yelled out a window.

“I said, what poison did you use? This stuff tastes great!”

"It will be nice to see your lands again, Lady Ayameko. I shall return with you, then, if you would do me the great honour of allowing me to travel with you?" Takumi smiled, sidling around the table in order to stand with Ayameko and her entourage. The process of negotiating and ushering in a universal currency was difficult due to the widely-held reluctance to change that people were notorious for, but it was something that could be done when sufficiently knowledgable minds gathered together.

"If Yamagakure and Kyokujitsu no Toshi both exist under the banner of a single currency, the rest of the world has no choice but to follow. I am sure that we would both like a universal currency for different reasons, but the power given to Kyokujitsu no Toshi is of little consequence, wouldn't you agree? After the destruction that the Bijuu rained down upon the world, we could all do with being more unified - and helping those hit by the worst of the destruction should be our primary concern. Our villages have been lucky, and able to stabilise to comfortable degrees, but the Land of Earth and Wind-that-was is still in dire need of aid, and the change to a universal currency would aid them greatly. Speaking of aid, Lady Ayameko, how many bushels of wheat were you thinking of donating to Iwagakure? Yamagakure will donate an equal amount of wheat as a sign of goodwill to the Land of Earth. Anything less would diminish us all."

Takumi's motives were certainly twofold here - on one hand, the fate of the Earth and Wind's people was not something that mattered to him in the slightest. If they returned to the rocks that bore them, there would be no sadness - only opportunity. However, relations with Kyokujitsu no Toshi, Yamagakure's only true rival with regards to economic success, were extremely important for the coming months - and Windspeaker Touho would most certainly approve of donating crops to those less fortunate. It would be an ideal way to ensure that every party involved walked away with some degree of happiness.

"If you would wish for me to come to the south with you, Lady Ayameko, it would be my pleasure - but I am equally as content to stay in the capital and speak with Ambassador Chiyoko about currency. 'Tis I who will be serving your whims, not vice versa, Lady Ayameko - You most certainly deserve the comfort of your home, after what you have done for this world." Takumi replied, before taking the pouch of gold coins on his belt and dumping it on to the table behind him. Gold would have no value where he was going, after all, and it was hardly as if he would go without in Kyokujitsu no Toshi.

Ayameko

"I would suggest that you discuss your plans with Chiyoko, she should be able to assist in moving to our paper currency. Unfortunately, I am needed very urgently in the south, so I will be unable to travel back with you personally."

Ayameko gestured to Kei, "I am sure Kei can provide adequate protection and guidance on your way back. As for the wheat to the Land of Earth and Wind, I would need to assess their need more closely when I return to Kyokujitsugakure. When I am back we can discuss more about the currency and aid to them in more detail, but I am sure they will be most honored by your assistance."

Ayameko nodded slightly, reminiscent of a bow. With that, she and Touzoku stepped out quickly, leaving the young Kei with Takumi.
Kyokujitsugakure was, as always, quite busy. Yggdrasil provided an incredible backdrop, with the forest of plants and trees of many colors all around. The houses wedged into a small, tight circle around the great tree. Kei would take Takumi to guest lodging outside of the inner walls of Kyokujitsgakure. They were the nicest of their accommodations, as buildings in the more central part of the city were much smaller and sometimes lacking in amenities due to being space constrained. Only Ayameko's personal lodging, as well as some of the major clans, had any significant amount of space within the city center.

The space constraints, however, were by choice. Kyokujitsgakure was well known for its many gardens, which took up the bulk of the land within the confines of the inner wall, which was covered in many vining plants. Even so, in emergencies, space could be made for all of the capital's inhabitants should it be needed. Then they too would be under the protection of Yggdrasil. Additionally, the city center held the shrine to the Two Tails, which was frequently worshiped by the people.

"Thank you for your assistance, Kei." Takumi would reply to Kei, opening his palms to her and bowing his head slightly.

"If you are interested, it would be my pleasure to take you out to enjoy a meal - You have been most helpful throughout the trip." He smiled. The offer was both customary and sincere - Takumi's taste for wealth had left him with an appreciation for the finer things, and Yamagakure was sadly lacking in anything gourmet due to the ascetic lifestyle that its people led. It was pleasant enough to eat in Yamagakure - some of the local cuisine was simply delicious - but it was nothing compared to what Kyokujitsu no Tochi had to offer. It was perhaps the best place to eat on the entire continent due to its heavy emphasis on farming and the production of other goods, and its people were passionate about their food - it, all in all, made the entire premise of visiting very promising.

"If not, I will be able to find Chiyoko of my own accord, and I thank you again for your time." He added on as an afterthought, before holding the same book he had been poring over on the Isle of Chuusei up to chest level and flicking through the pages idly. His centre of vision was still on Kei, but he was able to read simultaneously. He did, for a brief second, wonder if Kei would be offended at his not offering her his full attention, but it seemed unlikely that she would be particularly bothered. He wasn't ignoring her, by any means, but his time was valuable and his book offered information that could be valuable in the coming hours.

Kei

"I would be most honored" Kei responded, once again turning her palms open to him and nodding. "Lady Ayameko has asked me to represent Kyokujitsu no Tochi as your liaison. I have already arranged a meeting for you with Taishi Chiyoko in an hour at Lady Ayameko's. I expect that MIss Shiō will also be attending."

Despite not showing it, Kei disliked the formality of these situations, but many had hinted at her to be the next Sankage to be selected by Yggdrasil. She has been chosen by both Ayameko and the tree to carry a synthetic Kekkei Tota. It was her potential status as the next Sankage that she was expected to participate in these affairs. People would talk otherwise, which was not something that she wanted - nor something she wanted to burden Lady Ayameko with. She would due her duty and serve as liaison for as long as necessary.

"If there are any other matters you need to attend to before you meeting, now would be the time to do them."

She had noticed his gaze not fully on her, but she didn't mind. It made the situation much more tolerable. It at least made it seem slightly less like a diplomatic event.

"I would put away that book though, when walking through town. Otherwise Yui might see it and you won't want to be dealing with that."

Yui was Kyokujitsgakure's librarian, in essence. While technically a trained shinobi, she was largely inept at most of its arts. It was surprising for many to find that Lady Ayameko had graduated her early, when she was borderline failing at all of the practical exams. She had a thirst for books, and a book from a foreign land would no doubt draw her interest - enough that could make the situation very, very awkward. One thing Kei knew was that if there was a book, and she wanted access to it, there were few forces in the world that could stop her.

"That is good to hear - we should eat quickly, then, to avoid burdening Taishi Chiyoko with lateness!" Takumi replied, laughing mirthily, as he extended a hand to Kei to signal her to start moving first.

"I will leave the choice of where we eat up to you, Kei. You are significantly more well-versed in the area's nuances than I am, after all." he directed, before returning to the intricate scrawls on the pages of his book. He had taken the precaution of writing everything down in code, in order to prevent his musings and stock of information from entering into the wrong hands - but Kei's warning about Yui was something to consider regardless of how much effort he had put into safeguarding his secrets. He knew nothing definite, but he had a sneaking suspicion that given the way that Kei had spoken about Yui, his methods would not keep secrets from her for long, and it was likely best, as she'd said, that they avoid the situation entirely.

"I believe I have some calculations to make, but I am sure that you do not require my undivided attention while we eat? Other than these few matters, I believe I am free for the entire hour that we have before our meeting."

Kei

"As you wish."
Kei and Takumi had a polite lunch, but very little of any substance was exchanged. Kei told a bit of her growing up story. Her parents were both travelers, her mother an herbalist, her father a merchant. Travelling around created a childhood for her that was full of different and unique experiences, but also brought around some great danger. It wasn't until years after talking with Ayameko that she learned she had been attacked by what was suspected to be another being that was created similarly to the 10 Tails. Beyond that, she didn't know much more. It wasn't information she needed to hide either.
Kei, Shiō, and Chiyoko

Kei led Takumi to the room for the meeting. It was a part of the Sankage's personal estate, which was almost an official public building at this point. She conducted most of the business for their nation out of her own home. The room itself was a standard conference room, but there was a simple elegance to it. The floors were a richly stained bamboo, a mix of cherry and cinnamon colors. The walls were a stark white contrast, with the inner edge around the walls having a significant groove cut out as a bed for a wide range of specialty plants, some which vined up towards the ceilings. The wall to the outside, or lack there of, the sliding panels that made it up had been removed for the bright summertime air, provided a view out onto Yggdrasil, as well as the forests and cliffs around the city. A few pieces of ink art hung on the walls as well, nestled among the plants.

Kei herself did not enter, but gave way for Takumi to, sliding the door open to reveal an already waiting Shiō, even though they were over ten minutes ahead of the meeting scheduled.

Shiō sat in a chair at the end, her dark hair tied up in a singular ponytail. Her right leg cross sharply over her left, her arms also crossed about her body. She acknowledged both with a nod and a gesture for Takumi to take a seat wherever at the table.

"Chiyoko should arrive momentarily," Shiō commented dryly.

Chiyoko was known as Taishi for a reason. She was the ambassador not only of their nation, but of another nation from a land far outside of the knowledge of the current nations. From Chiyoko's stories, it wasn't really much of a nation, but a singular island smaller than the Land of Water's center island. Chiyoko didn't really say much about her reasons for being here, other than that she was looking for someone.

At the moment, however, it was just Shiō and Takumi.

"Yeah, I would love to have a ride to Lady Ayameko, please." She said politely "Alia-dono, I owe you one." Homura respectfully bows down to Alia and held her hand. "If there is anyway I could repay you, fear not! I am always at your service. As a Kunoichi of Kyoku and Uchiha, I would like to be your personal multitasking agent! As an Uchiha, you will not regret for the sharingan is truth seeking. Please, take me as your agent!" Homura's expression is all excited like a fanatic who would do so serve the celebrity.

"Um.. Um.." Allia seemed a bit overwhelmed by the vehemence of Homura's sudden offer. "Ah.. No, that won't be necessary. Having more company for the flight I was already planning on making will be more than enough." Zilant seemed bemused at Homura's exuberance, and the reaction it caused in Allia, but also slightly disappointed that Homura showed no fear at all about riding a dragon. Ah well, I suppose it wouldn't do to scare the young girl anyway.. He "shrugged" with his neck, sending a roll along the arch of his neck like a tiny wave near its base.

"Of course, Shadan, it's the least I could do." Allia reacted with a smile to the word "Lady". That era of her life had been so long ago she could hardly remember it. But it was still there. "What is your eldest's name?" Allia took the letter without examining it carefully, so if the letter had the name on it, Allia missed it.

Allia mused a bit for a moment about the destination though "The Academy... Hmmm. From where I came from there wasn't such formal training.. Or no.. It was still formal, I should say it wasn't centralized. Each family taught their own children the ways of Chakra, or hired tutors. Is this Academy worth not seeing your children for such long periods of time? I've not been to one."

Zilant rumbled up, "Don't disagree with the ways of the land you are in. it is rude, Allia."

Allia backpedaled in her tone and words waving a hand nervously, "Ah, oh, I didn't mean it like that! I just don't know about it, that's all."

Suishō and Shadan

"Toki is his name, but you can just drop it off at the Academy office," Shadan explained.

Suishō took to the task of explaining the Academy to Allia, "It is a great honor to complete the Academy, for both the graduate and their family. Few are able to complete the requirements and many branch off into one of the more specialized Schools instead, but the Academy provides us with a place to provide the best training for our youth to help protect their homeland."

Suishō wasn't upset with Allia for her mild faux pas. You could see the light from Suishō's face as she described the feelings on the Academy - a reflection not only of her experience, but of her pride in her son.

Kyokujitsu's education system was fairly extensive. The Academy was a very selective form of schooling, while those that couldn't meet the requirements, or found the training too rigorous would go into a specialized School of their choice instead. The difference was the type and breadth of the education. Many of the specialized Schools cross trained into the Academy, but providing specialized expertise, such as medical training, but there was a difference between the type of medical training provided by the Academy and just the specialized School. Both were medical professionals, but an Academy graduate would have extensive chakra technique training, while a School graduate would likely not have the advanced chakra healing techniques and focus more on other forms of medicine.

Homura listened to both parties, as a matter of fact, it is true that Kyoku's Education is extensive. She remembered the hard times during her academy days, she's fortunate enough to graduate from the academy instead of being in a specialized one. "Now that you mentioned it, Suishou-san. It kinda brings me the hectic memories in the past hehehehe."

She asked Suishou about her Chuunin Exams, "By the way, Suishou-san. How was your experience with the Chuunin Exam? For nowadays there are quite a handful of dropouts or better yet, promoted Genin to Chuunin ninja that aren't present." She said.

"Alia-dono, you too. If I'm not mistaken, it's possible for Shinobi around my age and above are qualified to be Chuunin Proctors/Examiners? And if you were going to the academy, I can come too! I got some peeps to see."

She turned to the dragon, "Dragon-sennin! I look forward for the ride! Fear not! I am not afraid of heights! If I can ride my older brother's Falcon then riding with you will be fun!."

"Mmm... A falcon you say?" Zilant lowered his neck for Homura as he spoke. Allia noticed and made room as well. Then he continued. "I will have to ask to race sometime. Perhaps I shall ask that as my favor from you."

Allia remained silent for the moment not exactly understanding Suishō as she had only explained that the Academy was the best but not why. So, she remained silent while still working things out in her head to make sure she hadn't missed anything. It gave her a contemplative look.

Zilant responded to Homura's other implied question when he noticed Allia's silence. "Heh, I do not know where you wish to go first, the Academy or your destination. It matters not, we can decide on the way, it is the same direction for now."

If Homura came aboard, Zilant would lift off, but not quite begin leaving yet.
