That doesn't even make sense. This is like if I had, say, Oda Nobunga, and you had a five-year-old, commanding our respective forces.

Dr. Wang's past is only known in rumors. He could have been much, much younger than that and only look 70 because of stress.I want to say that the reason why the Fake Monk has an amplifier but the others don't is because the tech is limited since, after all, the Thunderchild crew are just a bunch of annoying pirates.

The problem is that in order to have been born before the land was turned into shards, you would have to be over 150 years old.

Why are we even arguing these story details?

Not like they're gonna really matter in the big picture. The only thing I'm seeing is something of a plothole involving faction dominance and tech but this is pretty anime flavored so it's par for the course.

Anyway for the questions pertaining to my gear:
It's a sword and it cuts stuff end of story much like your lightsaber.

Point defense is just like little turret things that shoot at missiles and stuff and are automated. And of course the generic rifle is an oversized gun that shoots large bullets.

The ATA is just the name we gave to this predecessor bot that served as the framework. It's only purpose is as a plot device that briefly explains the origin of the gimmick for the mechs

EDB it is then. I presume that is suitable?

Sword's a sword. Doesn't mater what it looks like be it lightsaber or an actual oversized sword, keyblade or telescoping baton with some energy field to make it cut.

Actually, it matters. If your weapon is simply a metal sword with no modifications, I recommend you stay out of melee combat with anything equipped with melee weapons designed for the current era. Which is currently every Kensai in military use, that I am aware of. Innue might have some that don't that he's still keeping in the background.

The U.N. is as much of a strength as it is largely due to numbers. Additionally, their Faction Leader machines are close to being on par with Taiki's kensai in terms of design and potency. Basing your analysis of the U.N.'s overall strength on the basic level kensai would be rather foolish.

And yes, as Gecko mentioned, the sword type does matter.

That's dumb.

We're doing a freeform rp; all it is is description. Plus we got the anime flavor going meaning the only thing it might affect would be the hapless NPCs who are cannon fodder to the heroes/central characters , but between characters they're more or less equal in performance save for some plot event.

Also really why are you guys being so damn pedantic about dumb details in a fricken mecha anime derived game?

Shoot dude, we're like your only players with actual sheets on this thread so far and now you want to seriously argue over this instead of rolling with it and playing the actual game?

My bad, I was of the impression that most of their Faction Leader machines were purchased from RinCo, those being the customs that Taiki was working on to fund his personal projects. Care to overrule me on whether they get a superweapon?

I do not know about Innue, but I would much rather have one player who wished to explore the setting with an earnest heart than ten who want to do their own thing while ignoring any part of the mythos they don't like.

The majority of my favorite roleplaying experiences have been 1 on 1, or 3 player.

Also, my apologies for any missteps I've taken in appraising your bios, but I was promoted all of 105 minutes ago.

It matters a lot because certain kensai are better at dealing with particular types of weaponry. Gecko has wisely advised you on what is standard for the thread - and designed specifically to have a certain level of efficacy.

No, the U.N. is capable of producing its own kensai. It does now produce the base models (used to be done by RinCo), but the designs are usually sold to it from Taiki.

Right and what does Innue think/say?
Also pray tell what's wrong with exploring the setting as hippie pirate vigilantes and being able to interact and explore from an outsider's perspective?

Gecko has advised you on what is likely to be most effective against current kensai technologies. The specifics of a lot of the tech does matter - because it does affect how certain kensai deal with it.

Your squad group is fine though. If you want to explore that way - go for it.

Indeed, I was not saying your characters weren't exploring the setting in a unique way, I was simply noting that you seemed to be disdainful of the current mythos and were using your status as the majority of applications as a reasoning around that. You seemed unwilling to recognize that an EDB system will cut straight through a plain metal sword, as established by how an EDB will cut straight through your plain metal armor. Swords aren't magically harder than armor unless they have a good reason to be.

The bios so far are fine taking into account the previous discussion.

While I strongly advise commenting on utilizing some adaptation of the EDB sytem that has been established as a part of the world, it is just a suggestion solely to ensure effectiveness of the weapon.

It's not "disdainful to the mythos". It was just a rad rule of cool type idea that felt right for the genre tone and setting. Like mixing nutella, marshmellow fluff, and peanut butter for a sandwich.

Also I don't know if it's because it's like 3 AM where I'm at. But I'd really like to know you're reasons as to why this tech hierarchy with the mechs is that important for your guys. Because honestly this focusing on statistics would be more appropriate to like tabletop game. Plus it's not like in the mech anime this stuff is ever actually relevant outside of like stuff being posted on the back of the toys or like little factoids in supplementary material for fans.

There wouldn't be any change in how it looks one bit, so that is where I am really missing the issue going on here. If you have a different kind of system you want to design for the sword, just be specific with it. A regular piece of metal wouldn't be that effective against most kensai here, especially against the strong Faction leader level kensai.

The tech hierarchy matters should I need to make any kind of ruling on mech combat. Since they are designed for combat, I generally assume this will happen at some point.

EDIT: It is also late for me and I am tired as well.

Ah, I was under the impression that the setting was intended to be closer to this than this
