We, the GMs, don't want to coast. Believe it or not, we're all about maximizing the fun. With certain strained schedules, we're afraid things are starting to become harder than they ought to be. But what to do about it? A few quick fixes and try to get things back up and running full steam? Or break it all down and build it all back up again?

...why should we decide? Let you folks decide, we say. So we've boiled it down to two options we'd like each player's vote on:

Option One; shuffle things around a little bit in the current Sandbox and get some momentum back in the IC.

Option Two; reset the game and start an AU Aegon's Conquest storyline, House players getting first dibs on their AU counterparts without needing a whole new full CS for any change, Aegon and his dragons not ensured victory.

What do you think? This is the best group we've had, so the last thing we want to do is screw this up for y'all. Tell us here, in PMs, in the chats, messengers--whatever you're comfortable with.

I really like this RP so far, but I wouldn't be opposed to switching the time frame. I'm a huge fan of the First Blackfyre Rebellion, but I'd be interested in the Conquest too.

But I'm totally okay with anything, of course.

First off, I'm still here as well. Second, I'll refer from voting as I'm still working on my first IC posts. I'm good with either alternative.

The funnest part of AU's is seeing the events and timeline change/shift in all honestly. Which is why I want to stick with this timeline and see how it evolve from what we are doing; how will this effect the next 20 years? 50? 100? What landscapes will be different in the future?

If you'd asked me earlier on in the rp I definitely would of picked option two as it does seem like an awesome concept. As it is I'm now invested in this story/characters but I can't help but worry things at the moment just aren't going anywhere, I think these Rp's work best when there's a big event to kick things off for people to react on rather than a sandbox starting during peacetime. Argh, this is a tough decision.

Yeah, screw it lets go with option two. Giving each of the great houses independence will make for a really interesting rp rather than coming up with various reasons for them to act independently and the setting just invites the right kind of political rp we want. Even if I have to agonize over character creation once again.

In the event it went option 2, we'd make character creation as painless as possible. Maybe optional CSs? No firm details yet, but obviously we don't want to create more work for people.

Honestly, I think the biggest issue contributing to the sluggishness is the disparate nature of the RP in its current form. Obviously I haven't been here long, but it seems to me like we'd be better off if everyone were connected to a single, unifying story. Rather than having us spread out across the world, we could be required to be connected to one or more of two or three intertwined storylines. I think the result would be a much more cohesive story that can move itself places.

I realize this is kind of an abstract explanation. What I mean is that, as an example for an Aegon's Conquest era RP, we'd have one storyline in the Stormlands with a number of players involved, one in the Riverlands or Dorne or wherever, and then the guiding storyline of Aegon, Visenya, and Rhaenys conquering Westeros. Our characters could interact with each other more often and in a very meaningful way, and more of us could contribute to furthering a specific part of the story (i.e. will Dorne side for or against Aegon). I think it'd allow us to create a much more focused narrative than what we've got now.

Just a thought, though.

Always love feedback!

Whatever option we finally go with, whether one or two, we've talked about various ways to bring a sharper focus to the game.

I'm enjoying the way things are going right now, but I'm also fine with rebooting the game if that's the way the majority rules.

What I AM a bit iffy about is making the new game in the era of Aegon's Conquest, but I guess we'll see how everything pans out.

I'm still interested! I'm worried it looks like I wrote a CS and bailed but I was waiting for Vanq to draw how my guys did in the Tournament as it would affect post 1.
I'd be reluctant to revise everything I did for a new timeframe as I'd have to get my head around another canon entirely. I'm not slavishly devoted to canon as I know Ruby is.

Seconded. I'm happy with the reboot RP with a more centralized storyline- perhaps we keep the post Blackfyre era and have a non-canon war already in progress btwn two or more great houses? I'm also a bit leery about an Aegon's Conquest storyline.

I have been absent for way too long I know, but I'm still very much interested. For me the time-frame is not very important but I do agree that there needs to be some event that draws all players together. Doesn't necessarily have to be a very large event but just something that allows players to interact with a sense of purpose before the drama, murder and politics develop organically.

If there is a reboot I may pick a different House though... maybe.

At the moment my unofficial count has us heading to Option 2.

Questions, reservations about it? Toss 'em at me.
