Star Wars: Resurgence is a play-by-post Star Wars RPG set years after the events of Knight of the Old Republic II. It is primarily player driven and features a functioning economy within which the corporations, governments, their underlings, and other mercenaries and bounty hunters can function in to create player-driven conflicts and resolutions within the Star Wars galaxy. While it is not necessary to participate in the economy for individual players, it sets the stage for actions which they can take.
Some background information for the starting setting:
The Republic
Years of war has taken its toll on the Republic. Its treasuries depleted, armies weakened, and many of its worlds in ruins, the Republic must turn towards its internal conflicts with corruption and a destroyed infrastructure. With the Republic's strength depleted, corporations take initiative: annexing planets, raising private armies and navies, and consolidating their power apart from republic whose shadow they once lived in. With these problems in mind, the Senate must find a way to promote a lasting peace within the Republic's borders.
The Sith Empire
In the years following the Jedi Civil War the Sith Empire, defeated and weak, retreated into the outer rim. Its wounds from the series of wars it had just endured too heavy, the Republic was unable to pursue it. As time passed the Empire fractured through power struggles between the Sith Lords, but through the chaos came new order. A feudal hierarchy of governors arose from the conflicts between the more powerful and weaker Sith: System Lords, Sector Lords, the Dark Council, and the Emperor.
The Hutt Cartel
Although the surrounding space has been ravaged by war after war for the last century the Hutt Cartel remains relatively untouched. From their isolated sectors of space they continue to trade and rule par the course for their recent history. However, with other major factions severely weakened, the Hutts begin looking outwards towards the worlds abandoned by their former rulers to expand their holdings. They also begin attempts to forge alliances to ensure when the next war comes they will emerge on the winning side.
Mandalore
Utterly destroyed by Revan and the Republic during the Mandalorian Wars, the Mandalorians have been scattered across the galaxy where they find work as bounty hunters and mercenaries. Many, however, yearn to return to the height of Mandalorian power. Now there is word of a powerful new Mandalorian leader gathering his people from all corners of the galaxy to the homeworld of Mandalore in hopes of resurrecting their great war machine.
I would like to get a good number of players to start the game up or people willing to play multiple characters since there are multiple corporations and factions which need leaders. Note that it is not at all necessary to play as the leader of a faction or corporation; in fact it is not even recommended (beyond the number that are required to run the game). Almost all of the actually role-playing will occur with less powerful characters swept up in the conflicts between the powerful movers in the galaxy.
