Star Wars: Resurgence is a play-by-post Star Wars RPG set years after the events of Knight of the Old Republic II. It is primarily player driven and features a functioning economy within which the corporations, governments, their underlings, and other mercenaries and bounty hunters can function in to create player-driven conflicts and resolutions within the Star Wars galaxy. While it is not necessary to participate in the economy for individual players, it sets the stage for actions which they can take.

Some background information for the starting setting:

The Republic
Years of war has taken its toll on the Republic. Its treasuries depleted, armies weakened, and many of its worlds in ruins, the Republic must turn towards its internal conflicts with corruption and a destroyed infrastructure. With the Republic's strength depleted, corporations take initiative: annexing planets, raising private armies and navies, and consolidating their power apart from republic whose shadow they once lived in. With these problems in mind, the Senate must find a way to promote a lasting peace within the Republic's borders.

The Sith Empire
In the years following the Jedi Civil War the Sith Empire, defeated and weak, retreated into the outer rim. Its wounds from the series of wars it had just endured too heavy, the Republic was unable to pursue it. As time passed the Empire fractured through power struggles between the Sith Lords, but through the chaos came new order. A feudal hierarchy of governors arose from the conflicts between the more powerful and weaker Sith: System Lords, Sector Lords, the Dark Council, and the Emperor.

The Hutt Cartel
Although the surrounding space has been ravaged by war after war for the last century the Hutt Cartel remains relatively untouched. From their isolated sectors of space they continue to trade and rule par the course for their recent history. However, with other major factions severely weakened, the Hutts begin looking outwards towards the worlds abandoned by their former rulers to expand their holdings. They also begin attempts to forge alliances to ensure when the next war comes they will emerge on the winning side.

Mandalore
Utterly destroyed by Revan and the Republic during the Mandalorian Wars, the Mandalorians have been scattered across the galaxy where they find work as bounty hunters and mercenaries. Many, however, yearn to return to the height of Mandalorian power. Now there is word of a powerful new Mandalorian leader gathering his people from all corners of the galaxy to the homeworld of Mandalore in hopes of resurrecting their great war machine.

I would like to get a good number of players to start the game up or people willing to play multiple characters since there are multiple corporations and factions which need leaders. Note that it is not at all necessary to play as the leader of a faction or corporation; in fact it is not even recommended (beyond the number that are required to run the game). Almost all of the actually role-playing will occur with less powerful characters swept up in the conflicts between the powerful movers in the galaxy.

I would love to play, and down for multiple characters. Do you have a year this is set? Also a huge mando fan, if you couldn't tell. Did you have an idea for Mandalore or what?

The year would be around 3,900 BBY (21,153 after the founding of the Republic), probably a little earlier. I have plenty of stuff on paper for the Mandalorians; I basically lifted a lot of it from the KOTOR games and wookiepedia regarding what armament and territory they have to start. Since I was looking to make it player driven I haven't really gone much beyond the set up for anything because I figured players would like some leeway with what they're and be able to inject their own plans into the progression of the game.

Sweet so you would have no problem if I went creative with it but kept it to the era? If you could pm what you had written down I could keep to what you had in mind unless you don't care about that.

I'm paying attention. I suppose my participation depends on submitted characters if it's "player driven".

I am interested. I will be watching. It is going to depend on some factors, much like it does for Assallya

Well there is first the typical rule which is to not make them too over-powered. Even though some very over-powered things like thought-bombs exist in the Star Wars universe, don't use them. Also I would like it if there was a variety of character types in the game, so if everyone was trying to play Jedi or Sith I would have to start asking them to play other things instead. In addition there are the average pbp rules that apply to all characters like not playing other people's characters etc...

In character as a Jedi or Sith you would be playing as part of a hierarchy, especially as a Sith. You're character would have to follow instructions of whatever organization or character they are loyal to, such as the Emperor or a greater lord in the case of a Sith or the Jedi Council in the case of a Jedi. Since it is more or less player-driven any other decision making will be left up to the individual characters. Feel free to collaborate with other players on whatever plots and I will try to keep information up to date as far as what everyone is doing so you can make sure what you're doing works well with what's going on (it wouldn't be encouraged to write your characters role in an invasion of Coruscant when no such invasion is actually happening).

Assallya and Tearstone, this is also my biggest concern. In order to get it running well there would have to be a handful of pretty active players with diverse characters to fill the roles that the universe needs.

For this, these are the things I am willing to go with:
Some form of Corporation/Manufacturer
Pirate Rink
Mandalorian Clan(In Exile) - Small clan

I could perform a variety of roles in terms off naval/military units within the Sith Empire/Republic if need be but right now these kind of character ideas are the ones I have my eye on.

This might be a little too big for my taste, I prefer story and writing versus a nation type role-play.

That's alright. The "Nation Type" role-play is entirely optional, you never have to touch that stuff if you don't want to. It's more of an ends to a mean for creating the setting and is in no way the point of the game. The purpose is still to create stories, and I feel like this helps everyone know the gist of what's going on between the factions.

Enh. Every time I see this crap it turns into two or three faction heads having a pissing contest while a half dozen others have an adventure out on a ship and never between they meet.

I'm keeping on eye on it but I'm quite wary.

Come up with some ideas for characters and plots and post about them on the board. I'll put my contact info up there as well. We have 3 other players committed so far which should be enough to get things decently started and we'll also get all the contact info up for them as well so we can all flesh things out with each other. Also go ahead and use the chat box on the left-hand side or post in the relevant OOC board if you have any questions. There probably won't be an immediate answer because I and the other players so far are away a lot, but I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Sorry if it felt like I left anyone hanging there, was going to send out a wave of pms just now but saw that the topic and resurfaced. Might still send out some pms.
