This is the OOC page for the roleplay. It is for general conversation and questions about the world in general. Any unclaimed land will just be treated as neutral lands that can be invaded or fought with for the purposes of our RP. New members are always welcome.

Below is the link to the map. I will keep editing as needed. For now it is just blank as we work out geography.

I was just browsing the casual section and came across this thread. Was there an interest check for this that explains the plot for your roleplay? The name caught my eye, and I was just wondering what it will be about, because I could potentially be interested in joining.

Formal Name: The Procellian Empire/ The Empire of Procellia

Casual Name: Procellia

Government: Constitutional Monarchy with a single house parliament. There is also an elected court (The Court of His Majesty) that interprets the constitution. Currently most of the power resides with the monarchy, due to political corruption in the Parliament.

Constitution: Yes. Rights include freedom of speech, scientific endeavor, education, press, weapons ownership, fresh water, food, trial in court, to be free from abuse, to have children, to vote, to protest, to assemble in peace, to petition, to speak with the nobility, to speak with representatives, to security in your property. It is notable that the right to freedom of religion is excluded from the constitution.

Population: 1.4 Billion

Currency: The Ake (named for the King who unified the empire in the first theocratic war). It is a piece of silver that is roughly 1 and a half troy ounces in weight, also called a "Procellian ounce"

Geographic Location: Antarctica

Capitol: Reca (Cern is the religious capitol)

Language: Procellian

Major Religion: The vast majority of the population on the mainland is Atheist however the Fofesh Islands (with 1/3 of the population) follow the native religion of Haula.

Haula is trademarked by demon worship. They have a large pantheon of demon gods worshiped by various groups; however all recognize the royal family as literal demon rulers on earth, chosen to guide the nation.

Culture: Procellia is notable for a near religious obsession with science and technology, due to the large Atheist population and free public education. The population is very soft-spoken, and patience and calm are the central tenants of their temperament. It is often noted how obsessively polite and respectful the people are, in addition to the whole nation taking life casually (except for the Fofesh islands where the old caste system is still on the books). The combination of their laid back temperament, slow pace of life, and focus obsessive politeness makes it so politics is a dreadfully long process. They are also very environmentally conscious, a leftover from when the entire nation followed Haula.

History: There is no solid founding date however the first historical evidence of civilization on the continent dates back to ten thousand years ago. The first theocratic war united the country under a single ruler in 1600 BCE.
In the third theocratic war the Atheists rose up against the long standing theocracy and after a one hundred year war Atheism became the predominant force on the mainland, and democracy was established with the founding of The People’s Parliament. However, the monarchy was left in existence to appease the religiously devout Fofesh islanders. The war officially ended with the signing of the new constitution in 0 BCE.
For the past two millennia the center of power has shifted back and forth between the parliament and the monarchy as one or the other became corrupt. There have also been several minor civil spats, which were actually wide spread political disobedience and had no bloodshed, between the mainland and Fofesh over the legitimacy of the elected officials in Reca.

Strengths: Procellia has some of the largest mineral deposits in the world including coal. They also have a well educated population and strong work ethic. In addition to a homeland that is difficult to invade due to punishing winters and a rocky geography.

Weaknesses: Political processes stretch out for great lengths, and the nation still feels a subtle divide between the mainland and FoFesh (like in the US north vs south). Due to their isolation they also do not have a well-developed economy, and businesses are not used to competition. They also have a very small military due to fear of war and distrust of military in general, a carryover from the third theocratic war. They are also geographically isolated from the rest of the world due to their long harsh winters and political leadership’s policies.

Ect: The Procellians are albino, and are notable for their strong Asian features such as slanted eyes and soft features. The royal family is easily distinguished by their purple eyes and curly hair.

They also have adopted nuclear power widely due to their environmental concerns.

They are so isolated that nobody has been in Procellia since the third theocratic war. To most of the world the nation is a mysterious land, and very little is know about it other than what can be seen from space and rumors.

Nation CS

Formal Name: The Independent Society for the New World Order

Casual Name: New Beginning

Government: Technocratic Democracy. There are 3 levels of Government, from lowest to highest they are the Representatives, the Council, and the President. The Representatives are in charge of each individual specialization. The Council are in charge of the different sections of the city. The President has ultimate say over administrative actions, and approves or vetoes those decisions sent to him by the Council. Each position of Government is elected.

Constitution: Each person that chooses to live on New Beginning must: Swear off all ties of their past, change their name, affirm that they will uphold the Fundamentals, create a positive change on the world, help their fellow citizen and do more than what is simply required. Should anyone fail to uphold these promises they may go before a jury of their peers, or they may leave.

Population: 50,000 on New Beginning, another 50,000 on the various nearby islands.

Currency: The in-nation currency is based around resources, different jobs citizens have offer different levels of resource access. This can convert into the currencies of different nations for trading purposes.

Geographic Location: Island Chain between Fiji and Solomon Islands

Capitol: New Beginning

Language: English

Major Religion: There is no religion. Damion believes that religion can only delay his vision. As part of throwing off any ties to their past, everyone coming to New Beginning must give up their former religion.

Culture: Each citizen is motivated by Damion's’ Fundamentals, upon which the city is based. They are eccentric in thought, highly intellectual, and hard working. They strive to be athletic scholars. Tropical style food is prevalent. The 16th birthday is when the young become full-fledged working adults, and is an occasion to be celebrated, this is the time when young adults chose whether or not to continue living on New Beginning.

History: A young man had a vision of a new world and sought to bring it into being, to do so he traveled the world and befriended those he thought were extremely gifted, those that would have a lasting mark on the future world. To these people he shared his dream. Not all of them agreed with his vision of the world, some felt extremely threatened, but as this man grew more powerful, more and more of those he visited believed him and wanted to help him. It took 50 years to gain the funds and resources to begin his project, 50 years for those people he befriended to gain enough of their own power to help him reach his goal. Thus was Damion Mantrez able to fulfill his dream of creating the new nation that would change the world. Since then another 50 years have passed, the city is growing and Damion’s grandson, Alexander, is currently President.

Strengths: Can only be attacked by air and sea. Each citizen trained to defend the island. Highly innovative and intellectual people. Working on new technologies.

Weaknesses: People perceived as arrogant. Low populations. Lack of resources available to continental nations. Dependent on the sea, trading, and farms for food, can easily be starved out. Hurricanes and earthquakes are common.

ECT: The city is in the shape of a circle and is divided into 4 areas: the Hub (the central area where the governmental offices are located. Includes places to relax and socialize), the Past (focuses on areas on the past that must be remembered for the future. Such specializations include history and culture), the Current (focuses on improving what is currently in place, to prepare for the future. Such specializations include infrastructure and social services), and the Future (focuses on creating the future. Such specializations include science and technology). Each section is focused on fundamentals for society. The different specializations of each section pick a leader who then reports to the Council.
Every man woman and child coming to New Beginning has a job to do, they must work hard for the resource access that they are given. As each job is intellectual, Damion wished to keep each citizen humble, and personally involved in the upkeep (construction, cleaning, aka anything that might be considered menial) of the island, this is done in rotations. Each citizen is trained in self-defense, and must be ready to defend the island if so required.

Leader CS

Name: Alexander Mantrez

Title: President

Gender: Male

Age: 32

Bio: Alexander is the grandson of Damion, who first had the idea for New Beginning. Alexander began as one of the Theoretical Specialization in the Future section on his 16th birthday. It was quickly noticed that Alexander would follow in the path of his father and grandfather. When Christopher turned 75 he resigned from Presidency, and 22 year old Alexander was soon elected as his replacement.

Appearance: Alexander is 5’8 and weighs 155 pounds. He has dark black hair, tanned skin and a clean shaven face.

Personality: Alexander prefers to observe, he speaks to gain measure of his opponent, and thus is extremely calculating. When he says that he will do something, he makes sure that it gets done. Alexander enjoys challenges, putting himself in sometimes dangerous situations to learn more. More than anything Alexander enjoys the stars, he would often go boating or even flying to see more of them then can be seen from New Beginning.

Leader CS

Name: Ishay (The royal family has no last name)

Title: Dras

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Bio: Born as the crown prince his destiny was set from birth. He went to the finest schools in Procellia learning everything one could ever want to know to be the ruler of the kingdom. Book-smart, he excelled in school, though was notably socially awkward and still is. At age 16 he was sent to Cara and was left to fend for himself for four years, a tradition dating back to the third theocratic war. He got a job as a mechanic at a small machine shop and fell in love with the skill, and also developed an obsession with architecture due to the city's unique style of building.

On his 20th birthday he was retrieved from his sabbatical and returned to the palace. His experience as a commoner humbled him and infused in him a desire to help all those who trusted him. He soon got a chance when at 52 years old his father died of lung cancer. On his 21st birthday he was crowned Dras (king) of the Empire. In his first public speech he swore to fight for the betterment of all citizens that the great demon king had entrusted into his care, and soon began a lengthy battle with the Parliament over healthcare reform which has just reached the floor six months after it was presented (only the Dras can get a bill on the floor that fast). It still remains in gridlock to this day.

Personality: Ishay is an intense personality, and he lacks social finesse. However, is is extremely smart and has earned the respect of even the majority of atheists in the country. He is honest and has a kind heart, and makes to attempt to hide it. In many ways he is a bit naive, though it can be hard to change his mind once he has made it up. He is also somewhat feminine, and openly gay (which in Procellia has historically never been seen as an issue. Though he is still expected to produce a blood heir)

Appearance: Ishay stands at 5'10" (tall for a Procellian) and has a slim build, with lean muscle. He carries all the physical traits required of a royal, his silver hair has soft curls and eyes are an intense violet. His gentle eyes have feature the traditional Procellian slat, a homage to their Asian ancestry. Although slimmer than most kings throughout history he is possibly one of the most beautiful people to reign. He dresses in traditional clothes, white robes for summer and furs decorated with elaborate patterns for the winter.

Nation CS

Formal Name: Tama Financial Group's Administered Incultan Confederation

Casual Name: Inculta

Government: Corporate Structure / Aristocracy in the Capitol, extremely loose confederation bordering on anarchy throughout the rest of the region.

Tama Financial Group's Board of Directors is filled exclusively with Tama family members, with the Chairman being of direct lineage.

Constitution: Various deeds and contracts held by Tama Financial Group, stating legal private proprietorship of land and resources. No documentation on obligations between Tama Financial Group and residents.

Population: ~20,000 in Saba, ~450 million scattered across the region

Currency: Gold and silver coins, minted in 1 Troy ounce denominations. Gold to silver value set at 2:1.

Geographic Location: Incultan Desert (Barbary Coast, Saharan Desert, Arabian Peninsula, Syrian Desert)

Capitol: Saba, Far West Inculta (on the southern Pillar of Hercules)

Language: Sabaean, various Incultan dialects, English

Major Religion: Incultans are historically water worshipers, praying towards bodies of water and practicing cloud-reading and hydromancy. They construct no idols, but rather choose to pray to water itself. Many others choose to be non-spiritual, which often does not conflict with regional beliefs.

Culture:

  • Nomadic lifestyle: Incultans are a generally nomadic people. Settling and forming civilization is not optimal in their endless search for water and food throughout the desert. They live in portable tents, which they can assemble and disassemble at east. Very few tribes, like the Sabaeans, form their own city-states across bodies of waters, and sometimes even sanctuaries surrounded by desert. However, even these city-states only number in the double-digits.

  • Domestication of horses and camels: Camels are the most used animals in transportation across the Desert. Incultan horses, however, have also adapted to traverse great lengths under the Desert heat. They are very effective, matching in sand any other horses' speed on solid ground.

  • Health maintenence: Incultans hold a tradition of keeping themselves in peak physical condition. They do not care for indulgence, and pride themselves in their own physical maintenance.

  • Clothing: Incultans don thwabs and headdresses to provide themselves shade in the constant Desert heat. They come in a variety of colors and designs, depending on the tribe and individual.

  • Education: Incultans are historically pioneers in the fields of philosophy, mathematics, and sciences. Hundreds of schools of thought exist in the region, and Incultans are open-minded towards ideas conceived within the region. They also often undertake research opportunities in the fields of sciences to better improve their own living conditions.

  • Navigation: Incultans have also explored the fields of astronomy and environmental conditions. They are aware of the desert's geography. They read the sand dunes and wind patterns during the day, and observe the stars at night.

  • Military tradition: Incultans have always been a race of warriors. Combat is taught beginning at a young age, and hunting is necessary for basic Incultan survival. Incultans pride themselves on their lifetime of training and continued development of combat strategy as their region faces continual threat from colonialism and neighboring aggressors.

  • Xenophobia: Over time, Incultans have adopted a xenophobic mindset due to constant aggression by their neighbors and colonial powers. They often kill trespassers into the region, and even go so far as to shoot down airships above the Desert. The saying "Saba is all you'll see" comes from Saba's exception in welcoming foreigners.

History: The Incultan Desert has been inhabited as far back as Incultan history knows. Thousands of Incultan tribes scour the desert, only slightly varying in dialect and culture. The endless search for necessary resources for survival has kept them nomadic. Very few have successfully been able to settle and set up city-states, but even then they center around tribal tradition and refuse to integrate into the global scene.

Centuries back, the Tama family of the Sabaean tribe purchased a piece of land in the far West, lying along the Northern coast of the Incultan Desert. The land was surrounded by mountains on all sides, and the Tamas allowed the entirety of the Sabaean tribe to settle there with them. They found it to be a strategic trade stop, and Saba became an integral point in global trade. As their wealth grew, the Tamas formed the Tama Financial Group, which held land and parented several other businesses headquartered in Saba.

A point of the global stock exchange was situated in Saba, and traffic allowed Saba to retain cultures that flowed in and out of the city. It became a cultural hub, with people of all ethnicities conducting in business with the Tamas. The Tamas also began to provide their own private military service, diplomatic contracting, and various other services in fields of international affairs.

Philosophy is one of the largest studies in Saba, with most other liberal arts being researched extensively. Military training is considered a cornerstone in academia, taught in all public education, but service is left up to the individual. Universities teach a spectrum of fields, with foreign professors available to provide a wide array of views. Religious centers are also embraced, being thought of as merely applied philosophy.

The overflow of money in Saba allowed for the Tamas to better provide for their people. In a very Socialist trend, the Tamas provided quality education and housing for all Sabaeans. They provided all amenities for Sabaeans, and gave its citizenship exclusively to all Sabaean peoples. They were able to effectively eliminate poverty, while building Sabaean pride through corporate-funded aesthetics combined with traditional upbringings.

As their money grew, the Tamas took into consideration the rest of Inculta. Citizenship into Saba was limited to Sabaeans, and Incultans were no exception to the wave of demand for jobs in Saba. With this in mind, the Tamas began purchasing and drafting deeds to pieces of the Incultan Desert over several decades until they took globally-recognized control of it all. The Tamas decided to keep a hands-off approach towards the rest of Inculta, allowing them to preserve their culture and lifestyles under the protection of the Tamas. Some tribes adapted their lifestyles in the Desert, but most still maintain a nomadic lifestyle with modern accents as Saba dilutes global innovation into the region.

If the Tama Financial Group was a recognized nation, it would place in the Top 10 GDPs. They are also the largest private landowner worldwide. Maritime Futures, a think tank funded by the Tama Financial Group, annually publishes global statistics, including the National Power Index, the National Domestic Product rankings, the Human Development Index, and various other lists and figures.

Strengths:

  • Sabaean financial security: Sabaean banks cater to anyone and everyone, no matter the status of the money. They also often negotiate transnational trade deals, and offer economic advising to foreign entities.

  • Sabaean foreign relations: Saba itself is considered diplomatically neutral, and often mediates transnational contracts, as well as consultation for international affairs.

  • Sabaean cosmopolitanism: Saba's acceptance of all cultures and all schools of thought allow for a great mix of ideas and experimentation. This has translated to a wide array of civil liberties, and a consensus of happiness among the population.

  • Incultan guerilla: Tribes are typically armed and supplied through the Tama Financial Group. Heavy rifles, ATVs, and even anti-aircraft weapons can be found in Incultan tribal camps. Since they are lightly equipped, they are very mobile in the Incultan Desert.

Weaknesses:

  • Extremely hot climate (150+ F average): With the entire region resting across the equator, the Desert is naturally extremely hot and dry. Incultan summers can exceed 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and sandstorms are prevalent. Although Incultans have physiologically adapted to the climate over several ages, without proper hydration and attire, anyone and everyone is left vulnerable to heat exhaustion.

  • Scattered population, and difficulty of communication: Incultans outside of Saba are mostly nomadic, with the exception of a few city-states scattered throughout the region. The nature of the Incultan desert makes sending communication signals difficult, as they tend to get lost and disappear entirely.

ECT: Incultan skin ranges from a light tan to much darker hues. Average height is around 6'2.
Leader CS

Name: Awargathal Tama

Title: Chairman

Gender: Male

Age: 32

Biography: Firstborn son to previous Chairman, Rafael Tama, Awargathal Tama grew up integrated into common Sabaean culture at the insistance of his father. Rafael did not believe in spoiling his family and leaving them ignorant to everyday social aspects among citizens. Tama was placed in public education, and grew up with strict military training. Over time, he took an interest in Sabaean culture, and soon embraced the overarching Incultan pride. He studied the cultures of other Incultan tribes, learned their dialects, and studied under several professors across the Incultan Desert.

At 25, he began training to become Chairman of Tama Financial Group, honing skills in international politics and business. At 27, his father stepped down, and Tama continued the long-standing traditions of his cosmopolitan state. He shifted over focus from private military contracts to military research, and placed further restrictions on contracting Incultan soldiers. Instead, he supported military consultation for foreign entities, as well as military research.

Personality: Tama has a very abrasive personality, often coming off as aggressive or intimidating towards those he speaks to. He is a traditionalist, but holds rationalism in a higher regard. He is very outspoken, and has learned to not fear being wrong. He holds a lot of national pride, evident by his frequent prioritizing of Saba before all else in his leadership.

Appearance: Tama is 6'8 with a wide muscular build. He shaves his head and facial hair regularly, believing grooming on such a trivial level only serves to distract in social and professional interaction. He is of fairly dark skin, with large yellow teeth and wide-set eyes. His skin is rough and scarred from his military training during his younger years.

Formal Name: The Kingdom of Weldenvarden

Casual Name: Weldenvarden

Government: Monarchy. Unlike current monarchies Weldenvarden's Monarch has actual power. This is due to the fact that the kings and queens of Weldenvarden believe that they serve their people. This gives the people of Weldenvarden unwavering loyalty to their Kings and Queens.

Constitution: no

Population: 23,877 (roughly)

Currency: Bartemaus (barts), small gold coins the size of quarters.

Geographic Location: A large island of massive trees about 2 miles from the coast of [name]. From the view of an airship it could be said to look like a jagged moon with a small bite out of it. The "bite" is the Gulf of Tartarus, named so by the sizable city on its inner coast. There is a rise to the land, making the center of the island the highest point, and the location of Du Grata.

Capitol: Du Grata, located at the center of the island.

Language: English, as they are descended from an English colony centuries ago.

Major Religion: There is no one religion that can claim dominance in Welduvarden. Churches and shrines to a variety of God's and goddesses dot the varies cities. This can sometimes cause minor fights and arguments between towns and cities and people, but never enough to cause a fight to break out. It is the Monarchs wishes that all religions be practiced freely.

Culture: although English in decent, they contain almost no cultural ideals from them beside the monarchy. Everyone has a certain job similar to a caste system, but they are not bound to their job. If they wish to try a new profession it is actually encouraged, but they will always be able to get a job that matches what is thought best for them by their Monarch. The people of Weldenvarden are very hard working, determined, and stubborn. Its said you'd have an easier time moving a mountain then haggle with a Weldenvarden merchant. They are full of music and celebrations. There is practically a different festival in a different city very month. Their cooking takes on an interesting mix of German and tai influences, and is considered by some to be some of the best cuisine you can find. There is a militia in each town that meets annually at Tartarus for mixed training for a month. Its part of the festival of towns, where each city gets together and shares its newest ideas, finds, arts, inventions, anything that hasn't already been shared. It lasts a month and is the site of some of the most amazing things you can find.

History: Weldenvarden was founded by a group of colonists fleeing from a nation similar to England to escape a tyrant known as Belial the Feared. He was a man who had taken a diplomatic society and taken over with a dictatorship, killing those who opposed him. When the group landed upon the island of massive trees they named it Weldenvarden, as an elderly man had said it was an old word for great forest. As people took off to different parts of the island to settle, more immigrants fleeing from Belial began to come to the island. Soon there were three major towns. Tartarus, a town of fishermen on a gulf; Caldun, a small village of hunters and trappers; and South Dawn, a rather large town of craftsmen. It wasn't long until Belial's eyes were on Weldenvarden. He sent out his army and had begun to take over what he thought was rightfully his. Weldenvarden was fighting a loosing war. A man and his wife, Brandon and Lena Goolsby, lived at the center of the island in a small cabin. Seeing what was happening to their newfound peace they rallied together the three towns and coordinated them into a formidable force that pushed out Belial. It wasn't long until the people under Belial rebelled and broke free, leaving for other places to call home. Some came to Weldenvarden. Because of what the Goolsbys had done, they were praised by the people. They responded with "it was just our duty to help the people of our land. Any of you would have done the same." It was that comment that started of the union of the three towns under the Goolsvy family. Although a monarchy, both the people and the monarchs never see it as such.

~timeskip~

Over the years Weldenvarden kept mainly to itself other then trade and peace treaties. Whenever wars broke out Weldenvarden simply kept out if it. But now a convening of powers has been called, and a messenger had arrived asking for the current kings presence.

Strengths: Being an island, its rather tricky to invade. There are only a few air landing areas because of the massive trees, so air invasions would be almost impossible. Invasion by sea is rather difficult due to the treacherous reefs that surround it. there are a few places that are safe to land, mainly Tartarus gulf.

Weaknesses: Because Weldenvarden is a somewhat excluded country, they don't really have to many allies, nor enemies for that matter. They also don't have the best of trade systems outside of wood exports. Being a smaller in number also reduces their fighting power simply because many nations are larger than it.

ECT: Some of the more interesting steam-inventions have come from Weldenvarden. thanks to its annual festival and South Dawn's people, who are mainly crafters by nature, major improvements and discoveries have been made to the tech that is steampunk.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Current Ruler
Name: Brandon Goolsby the 5th
Title: Ruler of Weldenvarden
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Bio: Brandon, so named after the first ruler of Weldenvarden,grew up learning the ways of the family. From an early age it was apparent that he would live up to his namesake. He had many friends and would visit South Dawn more than any other city as he was fascinated with inventing and crafting. When he was 13 he even managed to make a simple automaton, a small bird that managed to fly and would follow him around. As a ruler of Weldenvarden, he looks after his people well, and is well respected among them.
Personality: Happy to help when he can, but will not hesitate to be harsh if needed. Very few occasions have brought about his harshness. Tends to joke lightly at most topics, and usually seems to not be listening while hes tinkering. The opposite is true. he actually focuses better when he tinkers.
I elected to send mine already because it takes about two weeks to travel there since it is the middle of winter in the Southern Hemisphere. So if you want some preparation I will just wait until everyone has caught up to my timeline.
I would suggest so.
It's ok we all have busy lives so delays are normal.
As for length, just make sure you post enough to move things forward. Generally posts are long in the beginning because the stage needs to be set so to speak.
