Jackdaw shrugged, she was more annoyed with Taerys for just having the problem than she was with Varus for possibly not fixing it. The Varaxian girl being so emotionally distraught felt wrong, more so than when Jackdaw had tried to help. Even though she was well past the point of voicing or showing any reasonable concern for the girl, she still wished that she got better, if only for the ground team's sake.

"This isn't something that he should be having to deal with anyway. It's ridiculous. Let's just hope she's fixed before the next mission," she said."I already have to worry about the new guy, I shouldn't have to babysit a seasoned soldier."

Distortion of time perception was a predictable side-effect of the venom. It was no different today. Taerys could still hear him, though. She wasn't sure what was being said exactly but just having that knowledge that he was still there sitting with her...that was more than enough for her. She was constantly reminded of just how vulnerable she was like this; the Varyx relied on her speed and agility to get out of sticky situations. She actually found it kind of funny how their race had a hindrance like this and wondered whether Varus had any secrets similar to hers that he was keeping...A matter for another day perhaps.

Shortly afterwards - though really she had no idea how much time had passed - she found that Varus' words began making far more sense to her; he seemed like the kind of person who'd probably have a myriad of stories so they could have been for quite a while. "Ugh...Shyaka..." She moaned a curse in Varaxian and began to stir again. It was almost as if a chain reaction had been set off after that, with her senses returning to her like wildfire. As quick as she'd been put under the effects of it, they were gone. "I don't know how I do this on my own sometimes." She smirked and went to glance down at her wrist. It had already started to heal up, thank goodness. "Hey, uh...How long have I kept you here for?" Taerys asked guiltily, propping herself up on her elbow.

Varus was mindlessly rambling about stories here and stories there when Tearys began to stir. He quiet himself to watch the Varyx awake.

"I don't know, probably like 30 minutes. Are you feeling better?" He responded and asked respectively.

He began to look over her form trying to spot anything out of the ordinary. This was be a normal deal for her, but for anybody else she could mutate at any given moment. Yet her body looked fine in it's entirety. Then the thought of what just happened before she fell into her little coma came back to him and he felt a tad strange.

"How much do you remember?" He asked almost devoid of emotion.

Rennac smirked and nodded, relinquishing his grip on the Mu's forearm as he did with his. He was rather intrigued by the Mu species, miners with nearly the strength of super soldiers in their stocky limbs. What surprised him more was the priest bit, having never been much of a holy man himself. He saw everything s just code, all problems having a solution or a reason behind them. Not to mention the fact that most heaven based religions got immediately debunked by space travel once it came around in full swing when regular families would take a trip to the atmosphere and see a heaven devoid of angels or god. "Well, not sure just how much good that does me. No offense but I could never get into the whole faith bit. The church on my planet had a few... issues as well. Rather not get into the topic."

It took a while for Taerys to comprehend what Varus had just said. "30 minutes." She repeated, looking over to the Litharian with her mouth slightly agape. "That's...far longer than usual." The Varyx remarked in a quiet and rather brooding manner. It probably didn't mean anything, though. She felt like her normal self and she wasn't hurt in any unusual fashion. She shook her head a little and just pushed it to the back of her mind, sitting up and swinging her legs over the edge of the bed. "Your stories must have been pretty good then." Taerys smiled softly. "As for how much I remember?" She leaned forward, elbows resting on her thighs. "Well I remember that I asked you to keep talking to me even after I fell asleep." She shrugged nonchalantly. "Didn't think it'd be that long, so uh...sorry captain. Probably just because I'd left it for so long..." Her voice trailed off as she stood and cracked her back and started rubbing the back of her neck. She walked over to him and stood with her hands on her sides. "But, uh...we should get going. I've already kept you too long from your duties. Sorry." Taerys offered an apologetic smile and nod of the head.

Varus was taken a bit aback as his words were muttled within his won mouth. "No, no, not 30 minutes you were under, that was only about 5-7ish. I was talking about as a whole." He said a tad frantically to cover his mistake.

Another thing too, Taerys' memory seems to be only up to the point where just before she cut into her arm. So the kiss was forgotten it would seem. He didn't know if he should be relieved or upset. Deciding on the former he realized that while he like Taerys, to love her was something he didn't know if he could do yet.

"Yes, of course, your right. I need to get the ship prepared for take off. And your confined to your room for the next hour. You'll be 100% before you set out." He said not as a person but as a Captain. Standing up and walking to the door to leave.

Taerys let out a sigh if relief at Varus' clarification. She could only hope that he was being honest about it and wasn't just saying this to make her feel better, as good as the intentions would be. She shrugged lightly and, after dusting herself down a little, started for the exit. She was immediately halted by the words that came out of Varus' mouth.

"Confined to my room? But I-" She stopped herself mid-sentence, remembering Jackdaw and the new guy. She'd never really been great around new guys. And Jackdaw may still be a bit miffed at her. It was probably best for her to remain here alone for some time at least. "Yes sir." Taerys nodded up at him and picked up the dagger from the floor. "A good time for housekeeping, huh?" She giggled, sitting back on the bed with wipes to clean the dagger back up.

Varus walked out of the room only glancing back to see if Taerys was trying to sneak out behind him. When she wasn't he turned and left down the halls. He had to check the hanger to see if the rest of the crew had come back, if so, they could finally take off.

His trip back wasn't a straight shot though. He made several stops at the various stations on the ship making sure the ship could take off as soon as he gave the command.

After about an hour he finally made his way back to the ship's hanger to see the remaining crew and Max, the smallest man to ever become a guardian. "Max! I was wondering where you were. I missed you buddy."

"Oh good, I'm not that kind of priest. The church of the perfected self sees the miracle in ones own existence, It speaks of full belief in yourself and adjusting your body to reflect your ideals... My ideals is in strength, the strength to protect others so I body build to make sure I'm never to weak to help. In my faith the Doctor behind you makes full use of his dexterity as a surgeon, his form follows function."

He finally releases the humans arm and looks back at his boxes, he didn't have anything specific for the new guy to he searched his combat vest until he found what he was looking for. He drew out a screw-cap cylinder not unlike a cigar and opened it revealing several precious gems, He shook them out across an open hand raised up to let him see more clearly, none were worked, letting their own natural shapes speak for themselves.

"Pick one."

Rennac smirked at the idea of a religion based on perfecting your own abilities, seeming to be right up his alley. He focused on a balance of mind and body, believing the mind could not thrive in an overweight and sluggish body. Both needed to be kept in top form in order for one to work at it's peak. "Intriguing. Never had that religion on my homeworld. I suppose I'd best describe myself as a balance. I neither excel or fail in any area save for hacking. By building your skills in multiple areas you can adapt on the fly to different situations and thrive no matter where you are or what situation you find yourself in." H e turned his eyes to the various gems laid out on the Mu's palm, noticing one clear gem that was familiar from a few of the tools he used. "Hmm... I could make use of this one as a resistor for my wrist computer. Thank you. Hmm, I think I may have an idea for a gift. Don't suppose you play any games do you?"

Max nodded as he listened, mind already building on what he was being told as a list of ways to assist him in his personal reflection. He was about to reply when he heard his commander speak up. On reflex he dropped the conversation and snapped into a salute, much to Rennac's possible dismay if Max smacked him in the sudden salute.
"Max! I was wondering where you were. I missed you buddy."
As soon as he saluted he saw what he did and put his hand back down. Mu as a species were a herd evolved creature so it was no surprise to respond to the alpha. Sadly saluting a superior officer when not in uniform could get anyone in trouble, he knew the captains place was for infiltration so bringing attention to an infiltrator was bad. He turned away from the captain and grabbed the box with the patterned bow and presented it to him.
"Here you go, sir."

Rennac's attention turned to the commander for a brief moment, returning on Mu just in time to see the hand flying up in a salute. His instincts kicked in and he bent back in time to avoid the hand, getting back upright once he was clear. His race thankfully kept some of their hole survival instincts, something that has been tried and true to keep his species alive. Well, mostly, there were still instances where it failed to keep a wolfen alive so it was far from foolproof. He then looked back to the captain, smiling a bit grimly to himself. There was another reason why he was brought on board, something he would need to hold a briefing about once they were past the atmosphere. He was told to keep possible eaves droppers to a minimum and that meant getting out of range for whatever bugs there could be. He knew the higher ups wanted to keep this situation quiet to prevent a panic and he saw how the crew handled his arrival. They were not shaken up too easily and would likely not freak out when he gave them the details. "Captain, once we're off I'd like to speak to you and the other major officers if possible. Has to do with a few things concerning the ship's computer grid."

Varus couldn't help but smile at the little show. Between almost being clocked and the quick to attention Mu it was a good moment to be a part of.

"At ease Max." He said holding his own right of the military routine. yet when offered with a gift, he was curious to accept. He knew Max liked to buy the crew little things, being the generous soul he is, but it's a rare day when he get's Varus something. Varus couldn't say he had many likes and the ones he did changed by next week. One thing though, he did like his weapons, whether bladed or loaded, and if he was lucky, both. He even took it onto himself to try and make a special set of gauntlets to use on missions... and after failing miserably, got Dresden to make them. What could be in the box? Only one way to find out.

"Thank you. I'm truly curious to see what's inside, but sadly it must wait. We are due to take off here soon." He said bowing lightly to Max.

He turned his head over to Ren, "When we take off I'll assemble a small council, and your clearances should be here very soon. They are being processed at the command deck as we speak. So I ask that you save your speech until you get a proper scan of the ship."

Max was glad to see the captain didn't reprimand him like the time they were on a covert session, but then again this was shore leave as far as he knew and not a covert operation. He was bowed to and returned the foreign gesture a bit too stiffly to look normal on his stocky frame. He noticed the box was not taken from him so he set about to pass out the remainder of the gifts.

"You two are busy, I'll go do mail call."

He set the box for the captain atop the pallet and put the crystals back in their tube after taking a moment to see which one he had given away. Satisfied he knew which one was now enriching the life of another, he got behind the heaping crates of supplies and began to take it up the ramp. "Mooove, mooove, mooove..." Such was his mantra as the blitz of boxes made its way to the cargo hold, looking down each side way of the ship for someone in need of a gift.

Rennac nodded, figuring he may as well finish the scan of the rest of the ship once he got his clearance through. At the very least he figured it would help pass some time before he got everything out in the open concerning some of the new measures that would need to be put in place. Well, his recommendations as well as the new computer safety protocols that command wants installed and set up. "Very well sir. I'll go check my equipment to be sure it made it on board the ship. Don't wanna be in the field with just what I can scrounge up from the armory on short notice." With a nod he gave a brief pause to see if his captain had to speak to him on any other matters, turning to head to the armory to check in on his equipment.

Varus turned and gave the Mu a passing lance, saying, "Oh I don't mean to be mean. I shall happily accept it, but I must not open it just yet." Holding out his hand to not seem too greedy by just taking it from the cart.

As for Rennac, he turned and nodded. While he could understand the need for your personal gear, Hell he had his sniper rifle. A custom weapon crafted with have more care and attention than any weapon should ever receive. But as for the armory, he may be surprised. The room was about a quarter of the size of the hanger, and the hanger had enough room for three personnel transports, two land scouts, four fighters, and two drop ships. Is it has to be that big in order to house all the different weapons for so many people and for so many situations.

"Feel free, there should be a crate in the armory labeled with your name, anything you packed should be in there." He finished.

Rennac smiled at the clarification, heading to the armory and finding Dresden and Jackdaw there. 'Great, one person who will be more likely to shoot my legs out than cover me and an engineer who could almost literally see right through me.' He shook his head a bit and went about looking for his crate, soon finding it and started sorting through his gear. His power armor had been modified by cutting down on the solid plates around his joints in favor of a protective mesh to allow greater mobility and decrease weight. His helmet visor had been modified to act as a secondary output display for his wrist computer when hooked up to it wirelessly in addition to supporting communications. Attached to the belt was a sheath with a long dagger inside, an inch or two shorter than a sword with a cord wrapped grip. The sheath was strapped to the back of the belt at the waist, making it easier to pull out with a hand behind his back. Finally he had his two babies: two modified pistols with modified firing chambers that could slot explosive rounds as well as .357 magnum bullets. He could quickly swap between a standard single fire, burst, or full auto. He did a quick check on his pistols to see if they were in good condition but found nothing that he could notice. He then turned to the armor to find none of the mesh had unraveled or had been worn during transit. Finally he drew the dagger and checked the edge to find it slightly dull. "Huh, guess the blade did scrape against the neck guard on that last assignment." he muttered more to himself than to the other two who were present. Not bothering to look to the two behind him he got a comfortable seat at one of the workbenches and began to sharpen his knife, working on honing the edge back to what he saw as suitable for the weapon.

Jackdaw fell silent when Rennac entered. It wasn't so much that she had anything to hide in her conversation -there was nothing she would say to anyone about someone else, that she wouldn't also say to their face- but in general the wolfen man, in her mind, was still far beneath the rest of the crew. Perhaps if she put much mind into her personality, she'd see her fixation with being above others as problematic. However, it didn't impede her performance on the field, so it didn't warrant much of a worried.thought.

Instead, she scoffed, set aside the last piece she'd worked on, and made her way out of the armory. As far as she was concerned her job was done, and once she'd informed the captain, she'd just head back to her quarters, or the training room.

She was surprised to see Max arriving so late -or was he late? Ugh, she was getting so antsy she couldn't tell any more. She was also surprised to see Varus back out, having figured she'd have to wait around a bit before he'd be done handling Taerys. Oh well, good enough for her.

"Varus, armory is set to go. Fresh meat is in there too, I'm not babysitting him," she said, giving a wave to Max and heading off back into the ship.

Max stopped and brightened up a bit to hand The captain his package, making sure he had it well in hand before resuming his duties down the hall. When he passed Jackdaw, he stopped and searched his boxes to find her present. When she finished her report to the captain, he had a white box covered with red bulseyes in hand and held out to her next for her to take when she turned around.

"Mail call."

He had to respect Jackdaw, aside from her prowess as a better solider than him any day of the week, she was a perfect reflection of his religion. Her body was perfect for a solider, her mind reflecting her position, she was a warrior in mind body and soul. He once tried to get her to come to church but he their mission drew them away first and he left it to her coming to him if she wanted to do more.

Varus put the gift under his arm and was already on his way to the entrance to the hanger, by one of the edges to check on the ship's log to see who had not checked in yet. Before he could reach it, Jackdaw came up to give her quick report.

When he made the comment about Ren though, he had a word to say, "While he may be childish and strange, there is no need to talk to a superior like that about it. Least of all in public." He finished gesturing outside to the ship crews and ground crew flying about. Chances are nobody even had half a chance to hear Jack, but they had to at least appear professional, at least until the the hanger door closed and the ship was in space. He moved closer to Jack, almost to whispering distance, leaning down and saying in a soft voice, "Though I don't blame you. Just try to keep it in until we are in space."

He then went off to check the ship's log and it would seen like everybody was on board, time to finally get started on saving the galaxy.
