Name: Eva Ashton
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Appearance: The most noticeable thing is that she is always wearing a gas mask. This covers her lower face and goes over her nose too.

Personality:
  • Shy: Eva doesn't interact with other people that much. All people notice about her is the mask she is wearing and it always becomes awkward.
  • Intelligent: Even though she doesn't say much Eva is actually quite intelligent. She never has to study for anything. She can also quickly analyze problems and find possible solutions to them. She will always think first before acting.
  • Lazy: Eva doesn't really take any initiative to do anything. If it was up to her she would probably just lay in bed the entire day.
  • Submissive: It doesn't take a lot of effort to make Eva do something and most of the times she won't even care.

Power: Acidic fluid production: Her body naturally produces highly corrosive acids. This has made all of the fluids in her body corrosive as well, for example her blood, tears and saliva. Her body itself is adapted to his and she is basically immune to any corrosive substance. She can't control her power that well though and because of it she always exhales corrosive vapors, hence she wears a gas mask that prevents the vapors from touching other people. The only thing she can control to a certain extent is how much acidic fluids her body produces. Producing large amounts of acids leaves her dehydrated though. If she concentrates enough she can also change how corrosive the acid she produces is.
Also a thing she will never tell anybody is that because of the acids her body never produces any wastes so she never has to go to the toilet.

I like how everyone took after MrShoe with summarized personality traits instead of the traditional 1/2 paragraph detailed explanation.

I also like how someone has yet to make that hotblooded fire-wielding pyromaniac.

Personality should be presented as a series of short bullet points, detailing positive qualities and negative qualities.

And rightly so.

Alrightie do. Accepted. Seems like we got enough of a crowd, so I'll start on the IC sooner rather than later.

All characters will start out in an angled elevator vehicle, with several dozen seats for each new student. Prior to entering the elevator, each individual had arrived there by way of a space shuttle (yes, it's in space) that seemed inconspicuous. As far as any of you know thus far, nothing seems wrong with the "Academy" from what the staff has explained and how the journey has appeared.

I'll create the first IC post to further describe it, and after that you guys are free to post.

Awesome! I look forward to seeing how this turns out. I'll start thinking of a post right away.
Before I actually start writing however, might I trouble you with a few questions regarding the setting?
First of all, roughly how advanced is the current technological level? Is the use of spaceships widespread and accessible?
What are they fueled/propelled with? Are there any other currently existing space colonies out there, and if so where?
Does the station have a stable artificial gravitational field? How does it work, rotation or some other means?
If they exist, do any of the space colonies have an independent political status? Are they civilian based, or more the military/corporate/research types?
Are there non-inhabited automated corporate structures in space? Could you describe the elevator vehicle a bit?

Sorry for the wall of questions, I just like to make sure that I don't make any mistakes in regards to the setting...
My apologies if you answer any of that in the IC post.

Name
Kirill Yudin

Age
18

Gender
Male

Personality
Eccentric
Talkative
Outgoing
Excitable
Curious
Observant
Absent-Minded

Power
Spiritual Manipulation: Kirill can sense, summon and manipulate ethereal and paranormal entities to a variety of ends. These can include (but are not limited to) bindings, exorcisms, curses, or blessings depending on the "spirit" in question and the ritual involved. These entities cannot be sensed in any way aside from the effects they bring about by anyone other than Kirill, as they exist on a wholly different plane of reality which only he has insight into.

*Quickly posts OC hoping to not get rejected*

Name: Brooks Moore
Age: Fourteen
Gender: Male

Personality:
•Sweet: Brooks is fairly sweet towards people and tends to get a nice group of friends because of it.
•Manipulative: Due to the nature of his power. Brooks is very manipulative and that can backfire sometimes. Often acting cute to win over a large amount of people.
•Self Control: Brooks has good self control so he doesn't let certain emotions be seen.
•Self Dependence: Brooks doesn't feel like he can trust anybody after certain stuff that happened in his past so its hard to actually get to know him past what he pretends to be.
•Curious: Brooks is a very curious guy and that tends to get him in trouble.
•Accepting: Brooks is very accepting of people who are different. In his eyes that makes them more individual. Less boring

Power: Vocal Empathy. Brooks uses a branch of empathy that involves the voice and still gives the basics of empathy such as sensing others' emotions. In it's natural state, his voice is very calming and makes people around him happy. But if he chooses, he can manipulate it to induce varying emotions or feelings which can be overcome by another character anytime because of how weak he is. When he gets too angry, Brooks can't control his voice and it turns harsh and coarse which induces a feeling of dysphoria.

I know this seems a little OP but it's actually really weak. I roleplay more for character development more so than being really strong.

No no it's fine. I'm glad someone's curious.

The technology is pretty advanced, even for a "realistically assumed" year of 2182. The presence of "super-mind" heroes and villains before their subjugation allowed for an accelerated development of technology in nearly all fields; though military tech received the brunt of it for obvious reasons. However this surge in speed has since halted, and is now progressing at "human velocities". Commercial, private, and civilian-owned space travel is wide-spread. Advances in medicine allows for a rather unfortunate birth:death rate in the favor of rampant overpopulation. Human beings survive well into 200 years old, thankfully so considering immortality has been achieved but strictly banned. Quantum computing allows for AI, though the viability of rampant AI is impossible given proper programming protocol. Laser beams. Pew pew. Though kinetic weapons are still preferred.

Spaceship propulsion varies, with the more advanced ones utilizing Diametric Drives for yaw and pitch, and quantum vacuum plasma propulsion for forward and reverse movement. Less expensive (read: civilian-owned) use quantum vacuum propulsion alone for all directional movement.

Space colonies extend well into the outer reaches of the solar system, and several interstellar expeditions have been sent off, though none have reached their destination point yet. Mars has been terraformed into one with an atmosphere, though still requires the wearing of breathing apparatuses due to the thinner air outside. Most space colonies orbit around the gas giants, utilizing the minerals found in their rings to fuel expansion.

Graviton manipulation allows for the creation of artificial gravity in space without the need for centrifugal forces.

Politics with space colonies ultimately breaks down into corporations brawling with one another. Most, if not all significantly sized space stations are owned by megacorporations, though some are owned by governments (who cannot afford such large establishments on their own). If you live on a corporate-owned station, you are either
a) A worker for the company or one of its many smaller variants
b) Rich
c) One of the many civilians given an opportunity to live there by way of lottery

Automated space colonies exist generally, again, around the gas giants. They act as AI-controlled mining stations with only a few human hands to fix things that break down.

The elevator proceeds at an angle, with its occupants facing the "back-end" of the elevator. Think of a movie theatre and have the projector screen be on the opposite end of the direction the elevator travels. It contains several dozen padded seats in rows of differing height within the elevator, and there appears to be a stage of sorts at its lowest point, facing the seats like in a college classroom.

Hope that answers your questions.

Kirill Yudin is accepted.

Brooks Moore's manipulating voice, no matter how downplayed, is essentially mind control.

Time manipulation and mind control are my most loathed superpowers in roleplays, the latter of which moreso because it inherently disobeys a key rule of every roleplay; forbidding god-modding. Even though it is only animals right now, it has the potential to move on to humans. I'm going to say no right now, unless you can convince me by some means.

Haha I had a back up plan! I was going to water it down to more like changing the mood like in other roleplays. Truly I was feeling starved for a neat power and that's what came to mind. Possibly now it would be more like calming people down when they're angry like his voice is naturally calming and makes people happy. Although I do want to keep the disorienting status of his voice when he's angry. Also obviously all of these effects can be negated if anybody wants to. Just say you're character is so angry that they aren't calmed down by him. Literally the power can be rendered useless if anybody wants to XD Which I guess that was going to be how he worked in the Roleplay. People being lol "Lol stop trying to control me." Then wave off his voice. I should have been clearer :I

Now I feel like he's totally useless but I like roleplays for their playing and not as much fighting. Althoughhhhhh I really do want to be able to do a bit more. Any other power stuff you can think of revolving around that? I'm not the most creative person.

The power of emotional suggestion is not a useless one. It will be more subdued against player characters, but against NPC's it could turn a vicious soldier into an apathetic lazy bum.

Maybe include the power of empathy?

Ok I'll do that haha. I was hoping it could affect NPCs more. Thank you I should have thought of that. But I was kind of aiming for him being more based on emotions and people more so than combat so empathy is perfect! I'll ad that now. So I'm basing it off of this article aside from gaining levels of ascension...thats weird. But like the controlling emotions part is something he does already but on a smaller and weaker scale.

I'd actually tend to be open to limited mind control/empathic suggestion powers, to be perfectly honest.
Although it is a touchy subject for many people, I personally don't really have that much of a problem with it.
Unless you can instantly take complete control of everyone within a five mile radius, it really doesn't seem that OP.
I see it more as a sort of Jedi mind trick, as in something which takes a very slight time to work and can be shaken off if the victim becomes aware of it.
Just like being a bit tipsy doesn't mean you hold no control over your actions, being psychically nudged in the right direction doesn't necessarily equate with total mental domination. Someone with a gun would actually be more OP than someone with realistic mind control.

Hey could he have the ability to take the pain of others (Physical or if the person wants, mental) and give it to himself instead. Like if they get stabbed or something they wont feel the pain because he will? Thanks Cryptiic XD
