Name:
Yukiko (Meaning 'a thousand generations') Masuyo (Meaning 'Benefit the world')

Age:
17

Alias:
Shakita or Kita

Appearance:

Yukiko is a short 5’4” with deep brown eyes and matching dark brown hair that goes down past her shoulders. Her body is built athletically solid, an ounce of fat on her would be a tough find but that doesn’t go to say that her skin is still soft and feminine. She of course, is Japanese.

Abilities:

Matter Manipulation

Yukiko, having just stumbled upon her power as she has traveled to the United States, can manipulate matter. At first it just started out with turning a glass of water into nothing but an empty cup of air, as the hydrogen and one oxygen molecule were removed, but as she comes to understand her powers more, anything in the universe that has substance and mass/physical form can be manipulated into whatever it is she can understand and imagine.

Skills:

Mixed combat styles
Blade specialist
Stealth
Acrobatic/Flexible
Fluent in three different languages (Japanese, Mandarin and Russian), decent in English and others

Personality Traits:

Firm, Stubborn, Prefers to do things by herself rather than in groups, independent, a little sassy, respectful of leadership and her culture

Backstory:

From the very day that Yukiko was conceived, her fate was already written in stone. Youngest and only girl of six in the Masuyo family, Yukiko was brought up and raised in a family controlled by the Yukuza, a group of transnational organized crime syndicates in Japan. From the moment Yukiko started walking; training had begun honing the small girl into a lethal weapon for the Yukuza’s own personal use. At first her missions consisted of small group missions with her older brothers as ‘debt collectors’, but as the years went on her missions became more physical and daunting.

Yukiko first started questioning her family’s line of work when she was just thirteen years old and two of her brother’s had nearly exposed themselves in their own mission, and as penance they each had to remove the tip of their left little finger as was a customary ritual known as Yubitsume. As Yukiko sat there and watched her brothers disfigure themselves, her doubts began to climb and she tread more carefully from then on.

The years went on and by the time she was sixteen, she had lost three out of the five of her brothers to the Yukaza and it was high-time she thought about wanting to escape. The last mission Yukiko ever did in Japan happened on a cold November night. She had been brought before the boss as suspicions had gone around about Yukiko’s loyalty. There in the room were five men all tied up to chairs, already knocked out and bleeding, and with a room full of Yukuza members the boss ordered her to take the life of one of the prisoners.

“They are nothing but loan sharks, rapists and thieves…” The boss assured her and handed her the sacrificial katana. Yukiko didn’t recognize any one of them, and she knew that if she didn’t do it, someone else would, not to mention if she refused, her own life would have been taken. She pointed to the one who seemed to be in the worst shape and a group of Yukaza took him away to prepare him for the end of his life. When the criminal was brought back, there was a bag over his head and he was put before an alter with his head over the stone.

Yukiko raised the katana, and with one clean swipe had beheaded the criminal; her first kill. But what surprised her even more than taking the life of another was when the sack hit the floor, the head of her very own father rolled out…the Yukaza had swapped bodies! Turns out, Yukiko’s father had been suspected of working for some certain organizations in America, which of course was true and the Yukaza had to put a stop to it. What better way than by making Yukiko a killer as well?
With no way out, Yukiko had been transformed into a killer, forced to be one of the Yukaza’s hit men, threatened that if she ever disobeyed, what was left of her family would be killed as well. Yukiko saw no way out until one day…there was an air raid…

People were being evacuated left and right, women and children were always first. Being mistaken as a common child, Yukiko was rounded up with some others her age and was immediately shipped off to one of their allied countries for safety. But Yukiko didn’t stop there. If her father had connections in America, she knew then that it was America that she needed to be.

He lived in he junk yard after fashioning a small home out of scrap pieces of wood, metal, and tires. In his spare time, he can usually be found doing one of two things: Automobile repair using parts from the yard,or taking lessons on controlling his command over life and death from Charles Xavier and Eric.

Name:
Samuel "Sam" Zachary Guthrie

Age:
19

Alias:
Cannonball.

Appearance:
186 CM, 79 KG. Sam is tall and athletic. He spends a lot of time exercising. Usually swimming, hence the toned body.
His hair is a dirty blonde, he's got brown eyes. He usually sports simple jeans and a high-collared Leather jacket in a single color. He never wears hairgel, but keeps his hair natural.

Abilities:
Jet Propulsion:[i]
Sam is able to use his bio-energy to expel force from his body. Thermal energy, actually. This energy is used as thrust to cause his body to be propelled through the air like a rocket, at great heights and speeds with considerable maneuverability. He can control his speed and direction through sheer act of will. It does allow him to for now only 'dash', as he can only use his ability in bursts, and not for actual flight. It obviously allows him to leap very tall whenever used, leaving a blue streak behind. The force in which he can 'dash' is so great it allows him to destroy things by flying into them. His main way of attacking is by charging into things.

[i]Durability

While dashing. Sam get's a power field around himself that protects him from any kind of recoil from his power. Sam gets super-endurance. His body tightens up, making his body both denser, and nigh-unstoppable. Very little can stop him when he's charging at something. However, the faster Sam charges, the more "tunnel vision" the young man suffers. And due to the fact that he is almost unstoppable, his powers can cause incredibly amounts of damage to things, as was made obvious by that time he collapsed an entire building by charging into a wall.

Skills:
Boxing: Certainly not Muhammad Ali, but he's a decently skilled boxer and wrestler.
He's a decent driver.
He's a great athlete.
Not the brightest tool in the shed, but he still holds a natural level of Charisma.

Personality Traits:

Honest, Hard-Working, lacking self-preservation, thoughtful.

Backstory:

Born and raised in Tennessee, his life was rather simple. His dad was a farmer, and his mother was a housewife. He had 7 siblings, which weren't really considered that many. He's the second oldest ,his older brother, Michael is a year and a half older than Samuel. Samuel grew up as you'd expect. He was taught to work hard for everything he wanted, and so he did. He rarely got into trouble, and was always a pretty good kid. Spent his days player or throwing football. Sam always wanted to be as good as his big-brother was. He started playing Football to impress Michael, he dressed and tried to act like his big-brother, just like siblings do. And when he got into his teens, the war started. At the age of 15 Sam joined the army, simply because Michael did. He was a pretty well built kid, due to the working on the farm and the football playing.

The war hadn't influenced the states just yet, since this was still 1939. But the local recruiting center wanted to be ready. He spent a year and a half in training, being well prepared for action. They weren't sent to D-day, or to fight in Japan, no. They were sent to fight in France, push the Germans back in 1942. The battling went as one would've expected, it changed Sam. Not that he ever shot someone ,but Michael did. Sam was the only guy in their squad who didn't fire a single bullet through the entire siege, that took 4 weeks. He was in the army for two more years, still not fired a shot. He was known as "Full Clip Sam." by his unit-mates.

But that all changed when they went deeper into Germany in 44. Their squad got ambushed. Nine SS-Soldiers dashed at them, killing two of Sam's squadmates, and wounding his brother, shooting his left eye out. They fought the Nazis off, and Sam's unit took pursuit. Four of them chased them down. They split up, and Sam got ambushed. A SS-soldier spewing German to him, hit him in the face, and then sat on his chest, as he drew his knife, about to stab Sam.

Sam didn't think, he let out a roar as he pushed the man off of himself, went for the handgun in his belt, and pushed the gun into the man's face, into his eye-socket, where he fired the gun, blood and brain-substance staining the grass of that spring. Sam did later on get shot in leg, during a battle involving tanks. That was when his powers kicked in. A friend of his was in danger, and Sam came running, despite the bullet in his leg. He dashed, and in a streak of blue he rammed the tank that had aim on his friend. Sam knocked the tank onto it's side, knocking it out of comission. Sam broke three ribs in the charge, and was sent home to America.

The war ended four months later, spending another year home, trying to hone his powers, he was approached by two men. Men who had known about the war, fought in it. Along side the states greatest hero, too. Captain America. Their names were Charles and Erik, and they shoved Sam that there was a world of people like him, yet, very, very different, and they wanted him to join them.
He did, and so he moved to New York. working as a bartender at a local bar, when he's not honing his powers with Charles and Erik.

Name:
Kurt Wagner

Age:
18

Alias:
Nightcrawler

Abilities:
Teleportation – Kurt is able to transport him as well as others to another location instantly. This is done by displacing himself temporarily though an alternate reality before reappearing at his pre-decided destination. His abilities limit Kurt to only be able to transport up to two miles at a time, as well as becoming tired if he uses his gift too much. However Kurt did once manage to transport himself halfway across the planet once, due to an incident where he was trapped inside the alternate reality for a few days. After teleporting he leaves behind smoke and a faint scent of burning brimstone, as well as a loud “bamf” noise.
Spacial Awareness – While only a minor ability, this prevents him from teleporting into solid objects within his immediate vicinity, but this ability diminishes the greater the distance he teleports. Because teleporting into other solid matter would cause severe injury or death, he will only teleport to an area he is familiar with or that he can clearly see at the time or has seen in the past. His power automatically displaces liquids and gases when he arrives. (This bit was totally not copied from Wikipedia)
Appearance – Due to being merged with one of his Bamfs, Kurts appearance has been greatly differed. When out of light (up to consideration), his skin turns a dark shade of indigo, as well as giving him two-toed feet and three-fingered hands, yellow eyes, pointed ears and a prehensile tail. His indigo skins helps him blend into the shadows, while Kurt’s morphed limbs enable him to scale walls and buildings easily.

Skills:
Fencing – Kurt is an adequate fencer, having practised it for sometime after joining the institute.
Multilingual – Due to him growing up in Germany, Kurt is able to speak German fluently. His English is great too, although he’s not fluent.

Personality Traits:
Since Kurt grew up in a religious background, and hated his life for a number of reasons, one being that his father was a member of the Nazi party, so Kurt grew up believing that sin ran in the family due to his uncle also being a drunkard and his older brother being sent to prison for murder. This hatred for himself and his family escalated extremely after Mister Sinister experimented on him, turning him into a “blue demon”.
However Kurt is a very friendly person, caring deeply for those close to him. He doesn’t let this show often though and prefers to spend time alone.

Backstory:
Kurt grew up in a wealthy family in a small town in Germany. His father was a firm follower of the Nazi party, while his mother raised him as a Roman Catholic. He had a strong dislike for his father, who when not insulting Kurt and his mothers religion, would beat them while drunk.

During 1939, Kurt’s father was put in charge of a nearby concentration camp, where he would often bring Kurt so that the boy could learn what it meant to have nothing and that he was lucky to have such a caring father as he. Unbeknownst to his father, Kurt discovered his power, transporting himself into the middle of a field in the middle of the night. Believing that God wanted him to use his powers to help the people at the camp, he began to train. After a few weeks he had grasped how to go about teleporting so Kurt decided it was time. Unfortunately he was caught.

The prisoners he was trying to rescue were slaughtered. His father disowned him, although luckily his mother stayed with him as Kurt went on the run. Eventually his father caught up to him, but before his father shot him, Kurt’s mother jumped in front, sacrificing herself for her child. Going into a fit of rage, Kurt disappeared angrily, only never to appear this time.

A week later, Kurt awoke in an alleyway and to his shock discovered that he was in the city of New York. What more, he found that around him lay a group of tiny blue demonic looking creatures. There were about twenty in total, each with two-toed feet and three-fingered hands, yellow eyes, pointed ears and a prehensile tails. The creatures, which he named Bamfs in regards to the noise he could constantly hear as they teleported about, followed him for weeks, as he looked for work and money in the city.

Kurt was soon approached by a strange gentleman who introduced himself to him as Mister Sinister. He insisted that he could cure the now teenage boy of his curse so of course Kurt let the man “help”. Sinister however had other plans. Capturing one of Kurt’s Bamfs, he merged it with Kurt. To his horror the German found himself looking like one of the beastly things that had been bothering him for so long. After much effort he managed to escape Sinister before returning to a life on the streets, keeping to the shadows as best as he could.

Notes:
Couldn't really find a decent live action Nightcrawler so just picture Dylan O'Brien with blue skin and yellow eyes!

Name:
Mortimer Tolansky (polish)
Age:
16
Alias:
Toad
Appearance:

Abilities:
*Secretes psychoactive venom from his pores that causes psychedelic reactions with the consistency of tacky resin similar to gymnast chalk, Eventually he can use this to cling to solid objects.
*His legs muscle are twice as dense as everyone else's as are his bones from the pelvis down resulting in strength three times a normal person or equal to one professional athlete, all without working out. In the last year Xavier has put him on a killer workout session to make up for lost time so now his leg strength is equal to ten men.
*Superhuman flexibility and spine capable if contortionist movements.
His lungs can expand and compress large quantities of air that can be expelled with enough force to knock a fully grown human off their feet or hold enough air for him to stay underwater for a half hour.
*Superhuman taste, perhaps more of a negative trait than he would hope for, but it means he could easily track someone by licking where they might have touched.

Skills:
*He was a highly skilled crane style Kung Fu student for eight years but barely practiced at all for three years until Xavier insisted he learn again, Toad has now taken up Karate in the last year as a way to hone his superhuman kicking.
*After three years of football, he is a skilled athlete even though he barely puts any work into it at all but is already a capable team player
*He has become overly familiar with multiple narcotics and paraphernalia over the last three years.
*A six inch purple prehensile 'Gene Simmons' tongue may not seem like a skill, but it is worth noting beforehand if he has to grab something or manipulate a small object with his mouth.
Personality Traits:
List a small number of traits that would describe your character. No more than 7.
Low self confident, looks to others to lead.
Long history of substance abuse
Team player
Hates the usual blond hair blue eyed women

Backstory:
He's a fucked up pup, that is for sure. He was the bastard son of a one night stand with a high school girl and a college guy. Pregnant at 16, she fell into depression and tried to drink herself into a miscarriage or accidentally fall down the stairs. It didn't take but it did cause certain birth defects such as his appearance and body growth. She blamed him for everything wrong in her life after that including the fact that her parents refused to let her give him up for adoption until she was 18. On her birthday she took her year old son to the orphanage to give him up as his first and only birthday present to his own mother. It was there that she met a man Named Erik, a Crane teacher from San Francisco who was looking to adopt a boy of his own since he was unable to have children after blow to his groin. What should have been a simple transfer became dating and eventually marriage.

She still resented her son for ruining her life and further fell into alcoholism. Her binge drinking along with general abusive treatment of Mortimer, 'an ugly name for an ugly baby', left him seemingly developmentally challenged. For all of her fury, his dad was his safety, he stuck with the failing marriage while devoting the attention to Mort and constant therapy or marriage counsellings attempts for his wife. While he was always a quiet child, his dad would take him everyday to class to keep him away from his mom where he learned and developed physically, able to do some of the more advanced techniques with no effort at all.

Sadly, when he was 12, a crane fell from a building and killed over a dozen people, his dad was one of them. Again Mortimer was somehow to blame in his twisted mothers mind that all she had left was a massive law suit. It was then that he fell into recreational drug use instead of gymnastics and martial arts like his dad had always hoped while his mother tried to drink away the thousands of dollars.

She couldn't wait to emancipate him at 16 so she could cut him off and lets him do whatever he wants in hopes he'll kill himself as long as he left her alone. Miraculously when it was time for teacher conferences, she always managed to pull her act together and play the part of a Stepford mom for a few hours in public before she took the mask back off once she is in the door.

***possible recruitment
During his first year in highschool, when Mort was under the bleachers getting stoned, the coach found him after he kicked a twenty pound rock across the parking lot into the principals car. In exchange for turning a blind eye to his recreational drugs, Mort joined the team where he would make the coach famous no mater what college he went to. Once Mort was out at a party when one of the other kids thought he could make a name for himself by taking out a football player, Toad killed the boy with a kick to the crotch that broke every bone in the spinal column from pelvis to atlas. Before the police arrived, Xavier got to him first and offered him a place in their ranks. Xavier has spent the last year forcing him through his paces, trying to make up for the years Toad spent squandering his life.

Name: Daniel Yoshida

Age: 19

Alias: Mute Shot

Appearance:

Abilities: -Kinetic Energy Charging and Redirection: Trent was born with the ability to alter the energy levels in inanimate objects and bring out their potential energy, which usually leads to an explosion. As of right now, He's only able to do it with small pebbles, creating a very small blast. He can "heat" the bullet he's firing up, thus making it pack more of a "punch", but that's about it. He can, however, alter the trajectory path of an object he's thrown (or in most cases, he's fired).

Skills:
Precision Marksmanship: Due to an enhanced vestibular and kinesthetic sense (The beginnings of Hyperkinesis and possibly perfect aim), among other things, Trent's accuracy and precision is drastically improved. As of now, his aim is uncannily better than most, though not perfect every time. He only needs to judge an aim for an instant to at least hit the target. A second or two allows him to almost perfectly strike the target.

In tangent with this innate ability, environmental factors and obstructions (I.E. wind, smoke, plants obscuring moving targets, heat that distorts a targets image, gravity, etc) hinder him less than a normal person. His skills allow him to compensate somewhat for these distractions. He's also able to intently focus on his target and block out other stimuli surrounding better than most.

The major drawback to this is that extreme stress severely hinders this ability. His aim is thrown off, and his balance, etc becomes something that is sub-par to even regular humans (I.E. he'll be clumsy and stumbling about, tripped up by the smallest of obstacles.)

Enhanced Reflexes: Also a result of his enhanced brain areas, Trent's reflexes mirror that. He is able to react almost instantaneously to any stimuli, though only if he's focused. Things that take him by surprise or completely out of nowhere warrant a regular response. Because of this, he always tries to be aware of his surroundings.

-Martial Arts: Especially in the times of today, his father and grandfather made it a point to make sure Daniel knew how to defend himself from an early age.

-He is able to make many small, projectile objects weapons in his hands (rocks, knives, etc.)

Personality Traits: Calm. Collected. Suave. Quiet. Critical. Intelligent. Vicious. Daniel is a very determined individual who won't let you know it. If your opponent knows you have drive, they'll try that much harder to squash it.

Back Story: Born in the U.S. , Daniel was born to a Caucasian female named Lenore and his father Ao. Their union had to be secret at the time, as interracial relationships were something frowned upon by almost the entire world. Regardless, their love for each other burned more purely than most at the time. They cherished every fleeting moment, every eternal gaze and breath that held an infinity within a whisper.

Shortly after they eloped and Daniel was born, Lenore and Ao were found out by her family. In a calculated sweep, they came down on Lenore, taking her back to her home in Missouri and beating Ao almost to death, until his father, who heard the commotion in his son's apartment across from his own, came in to the fray, gun in hand.

Daniel and Ao learned a few years later that Lenore had been killed one night, a couple months after the incident for trying to escape her home in an effort to see them.

Growing up without a mother hurt Daniel, but he had his aunt and grandmother to provide more than sufficient love. As he grew, he found himself naturally good at baseball, specifically as a pitcher. His friends were always jealous of his skipping stone abilities and he always seemed to be able to knock the cans off the fence when they were throwing rocks in the alleyway. It wasn't until he was 13 that his abilities started to develop more. While concentrating on an assignment, his mind wandered so much that the pencil he was holding began to feel hot in his hand, upon releasing the pencil that now seemed to hold a glow, it exploded on the desk, causing a startle to the entire class. After that day, things started to get worse. Daniel was unable to hold most objects for very long in the middle of the day, as they always seemed to heat up or explode. Driven to wearing gloves all day, Daniel began closing off from others.

Until Professor Xavier came along.

Name: Marvin Braddock

Age: 19

Appearance:
Marvin has a pale complexion, and rich brown hair that is almost always meticulously greased and combed back clings close to his scalp. He nose is slightly large, and there is white scar tissue just above the bridge of it from where he was hit by shrapnel during the war. His eyes are a deep azure, but turn vibrant pink when he’s controlling his constructs, radiating light, and rest under eyebrows that are bordering on bushy. He has a strong jawline, normally clean shaven, a force of habit from the army, and because his hair grows in unsightly patches, again due to scar tissues from the same explosion, so hair can only grow on certain parts of his face. His teeth are in relatively good condition, mainly due to the shortages of food, which excluded luxuries from the diet, providing only commodities, and diet which has also left him quite lean. Normally, Marvin would wear a shirt and trousers, some of a few owned, often with a sweater-vest with multiple patches from repair on. For the bitterer of weather he also has a large overcoat. A couple of well-maintained and polished boots are also in Marvin’s possession.

Psionic Abilities:

Telepathy: Marvin is able to sense the emotions currently felt by an individual, and is sometimes aware of the foremost of their thoughts, though at present he is only able to observe these, and this happens sporadically, on very rare occasions. Over time the potency of his telepathy will develop and he will be able to influence the thoughts of others, and manipulate emotions by changing one’s perception of an event, though stronger emotions, such as love and hate, are more difficult to induce or change. As well as this, he will also be able read their minds at will, with a greater degree of precision. However, a thorough search would require physical contact- hands around the head would work best- and immense concentration on Marvin’s part. Moreover, a tumultuous mind would not be easy to penetrate, and reading the thoughts of an individual whilst their mind is in such condition would be near impossible due to the disarray of all consciousness. It can be resisted to a certain degree with a strong will to oppose psychic probing. Communication with other individuals via thoughts would also be viable, initially only over a short distance, but the range will increase, and eventually pave way for the creation of mindscapes, allowing him to project his thoughts inside another’s mind. Vision through the eyes of weaker minded beings, such as rats or pigeons would, in due course, be conceivable. At its most developed offensive potential, his telepathy could be used to “flay” the mind of a foe, causing them severe pain within the skull, alterations to their psyche, loss of memories, neurocognitive deficit, unconsciousness, and the disruption of neurone function, or even in the most ruthless of cases: death.

Psionic Constructs: Marvin is capable of focussing his mental capacity to form objects out of raw psionic energy, capable of providing offense, such as daggers, and utility, such as platforms and force-fields, and, with the given aptitude, can manipulate the size and position of these constructs after conception. The constructs are largely transparent, but are luminous, with a puce hue. It is capable for them to be both tangible and intangible at different times; they can be used to cut by being formed solidly, or to scramble nervous impulses, if made ethereal. This effect can be utilised in force-field after it has been developed, allowing for semi-permeable membranes, allowing certain things through, for example: allies, whilst blocking other things, projectiles for instance. The size and complexity of structures he is able to create will increase with use, as will the intricacy they interact with the environment, allowing for situational uses, such as fast flying psionic “bullets”, or multiple mental tendrils. Constructs can be broken with enough force, and Marvin will suffer a backlash of mental damage, decreasing the potency at which he wields his mutations for a short period. These can be created surrounding Marvin, or a short distance away within eyesight, potentially allowing him to asphyxiate somebody by creating an airtight field around their head. Potentially, this could be combined with the aforementioned ability to move his constructs, allowing for flight, as the force-field would eliminate the risk of bodily damage from rapid acceleration and friction, and act as a vehicle for motion. The magnum opus of this aspect of his abilities would be the last to develop, but also the most powerful: vector manipulation fields; the ability to change the magnitude and direction, the vector, of a body, regardless of the pre-existing forces exerted. It is limited though, as it requires time to centre his powers and produce this field, so fast moving projectiles cannot be feasible affected, and the range will also be extremely localised.

Skills:
Baking: He knows his breads from his cakes, to say the least; even with the shortcomings in supply, Marvin is able to bake resourcefully and their bakery has many loyal patrons as a result. His hands are surprisingly dexterous, due to the subtle differences in pressure and position they need to yield to make baking into an art.

Firearm experience: During the war Marvin learnt how to fire and gun; his shot isn’t that bad either.

Aptitude in chess: After the war, chess was one of the activities he used to distract himself in his spare time, often playing against his uncle, or one of Graham’s friends, building up a little skill in the game.

Fairly Fit: He served in the army, and so they trained him up a bit before sending him over to what was most likely going to be his death. The constant labour in the bakery has also helped him maintain a least a little muscles mass. He was also lucky enough to be relatively unharmed by the mustard gas; his tidal volume decreasing only slightly, rather than making him cough up his lung.

Brief Backstory:
Marvin’s birth was an unexpected one; his parents had not yet married, and neither of them had planned to take on the responsibility of a child, but his mother, Eileen, couldn’t even begin to consider abortion as an option, so opted to carry the baby, marrying shortly before his birth so they did not have a bastard son, and so the eagerly judgemental and prejudiced society did not end up despising them for forsaking tradition and what was “proper”. Despite this, contact with his father’s side was severed completely as they disapproved, however his mother’s side were slightly more liberal and forgiving.

The wedding was held on a tight budget, as neither of his parents were particularly fiscally endowed; his mother had no job, and his father, Stuart, was in the armed forces, not a well-paying job, but a respected one, given that he had served in the first world war, albeit, at a very young age, and so a few favours were rapid that day by those who felt they owed it. The cake was made by Stuart’s elder brother, Graham, a baker by trade, who also made the most exquisite ornaments for his sibling’s ceremonial cake. The day went close to perfect; the bride and groom were happy, the guests were well fed and smiling, everyone adored Graham’s artisanship, and indeed, it seemed like their love would be one that would stand the test of time, and last forever, right to the bitter end.

Unfortunately, that came a lot sooner than expected; Stuart was with his wife all throughout her labour in hospital, but even his presence could not stop the complications that were apparent afterwards, and by then they had already taken Eileen’s life.

Stuart tried to raise his son as best he could, but every time he saw the boy’s face, he was reminded of his wife’s, laying there expressionless in her coffin, eye-closed, on the day of her funeral. He could not bring himself to peace with her parting, and fell into heavy alcoholism- an environment not suitable for a child- which eventually led to Stuart taking his own life, as Eileen’s passing invoked guilt and regret, and deep remorse, viewing it as his fault, for killing during the war. Graham took Marvin into his own patriarchal care at the age of one, a move that was a deep show devotion to his brother’s memory, as he had no wife, and no want of a child of his own, but he soon warmed to the boy.

Consequently, Graham never told Marvin what his father did, but raised the boy on anecdotes spun of his Stuart’s heroism in the war, about taken on scores of enemies and defeating them single-handedly; there were stories relating to each medal or trinket that Graham could find; and he spun a mean tale, all of course as fantastical as the next, but the admiration in Marvin’s eyes was something that Graham didn’t mind telling a slight lie about, or exaggerating certain details.

Marvin was only of average intelligence, and so furthering his academic career by paying for tutors and higher education did not strike Graham as practical or beneficial; Marvin enjoyed school and being with friends, he was in fact a fairly sociable lad, but not gifted with the natural aptitude some were for thinking. Instead, Graham made him a full time apprentice, hoping that one day he would succeed him, since he had not children of his own: none save Marvin, who was a close a relative as he had. The bakery was adjoined to the small house Graham was lucky enough to own, so he didn’t have far to travel to work. And, work he did; within weeks Marvin had more or less picked up the various techniques used to bake all manner of items, and no small amount of pride was instilled in Graham, as he knew the boy would soon supersede him in skill.

During puberty Marvin began hearing voices in his head. Frightened and afraid that he was going insane, he kept the news from Graham, in case he tried to take him to a psychiatrist, and waste what little money they had on expensive medical care. As an alternative course of action, he just left it, hoping it would go away, but it did not, not most of the time anyway; around people there were a lot of voices, some louder than others, and sometimes when it was only him and his uncle, there was only one voice or none if his uncle was busy. Marvin may not have been a genius, but he recognised the correlation, and eventually observed and listened, discovering that they were in fact thoughts of the people around him, saturating his mind with menial worries and trivia. Though, he also noticed it didn’t happen all the time, and had no idea how, or even if it could be controlled, and with his introverted approach, he was not on the way to getting it.

News of the war always seemed to be fictitious, and far away, as if it was something that’d just blow over, and never affect their lives. How wrong they both were; even before Pearl Harbour the tension was obvious, even to those who wished ignorance and its blissfulness, so afterwards, volunteering and conscription should not have come as a shock, as America was dragged into the War.

Marvin volunteered, lying about his age, expecting to come back a hero, the way Graham had described his father, and man Marvin aspired to be like. The official writing down names at the recruitment setup only winked at him when Marvin said he was eighteen, and wrote down his name, regardless that he obviously knew it was a lie, for which Marvin was grateful. His uncle was ill, and deemed unfit to serve, but wished him luck and saw him off with what Marvin thought were tears in his eyes.

War. War was not what he expected.

Upon arrival to his post, the grim atmosphere made everything seem heavy and lethargic, and the stench of the dead and dying hung in the air, never seeming to leave or lessen. Every sound aroused suspicion in Marvin, and every shadow was an enemy. Soon he relaxed into the agenda of things; the trenches that he spent his time embedded in were familiar, and the dampness and cold was like an old friend that never left his side. Every now and then they would make a run for the enemy trench, either succeeding, or crawling back if you weren’t mowed down by machine gunfire. Planes dropped mustard gas, and if you could bear he pain of wearing your gas mask as the fumes attacked your skin, then you wouldn’t been hacking up your lungs come morning. The intermittent appearances of the thoughts of those around him gave him some comfort, he supposed, as at least they were mostly as desperate and as homesick as he was. He didn’t have a wife or children as some of the men did, only his uncle, but many a family man had been killed, some by his own gun, and he could not imagine how horrible it must have been for their wives; he knew a lot of them personally, and they were good, men, far more deserving of life than him, yet he outlasted them all.

He saw a great many things during that war: men live after being riddled with bullet holes, Germans being rescued by the side they were supposedly fighting, heck, he’d even seen one of his fellow soldiers charge into a tank to save him, though he supposed his was imagining that part, as it was peculiar and irrational; it took a while for Marvin to believe that he hadn’t died there. All of this, and nothing prepared him for what was to come.

Nothing…

When the war was nearing an end, Marvin was charged to help clear the concentrations camps. Before arrival, the war had always been about men against men, both armed with guns, and the willingness to kill. The camps were not like that; the victims, the Jews, were for all intents and purposes: innocent; the only reason they ostracised was because of one man’s hatred of them and the abuse of his power over the desperate, using the Jews as a scapegoat; somebody to blame for their own shortcomings. Humanity’s true nature made itself apparent to Marvin.

The atrocities committed in those camps horrified Marvin, and he could feel the anguish and primal hatred and loathing radiate from the Jews, experiencing their pain in the momentary thoughts he that cropped up in his mind. They were withered husks of what they once were wasted to the bone, a savagery awakened within them, reverting to a feral state to try and let their instincts save them. The systematic way they were disposed of and complete disregard for them, dead or alive, made Marvin throw up on the spot, and the bombardment of thoughts sent him into shock.

He was sent home because of his state, and spent two weeks in hospital, but was allowed to leave after getting an all clear. He was relieved to see his uncle again; whom he had sent many a letter to during his time in the trenches. But Marvin had changed, and they both knew it. He spent a large majority of him time working, and if not then he was likely reading, losing himself in a world that was not his own, or doing some such other thing to distract his mind, such as chess, or even counting the number of a certain item in a room, occupying himself. He was slightly detached, and not as willing to talk as usual, and certain sounds made him start. It was manageable though, but the thoughts were still flowing through the highway of his head.

So, when a man by the name of Charles Xavier approached him, and said he could help with Marvin’s “unique talents”, Marvin was at first a little apprehensive, fearing he may have been from the government, but went along to the prescribed location, and much to Marvin’s surprise, Xavier was able to help hone and control the passage of other thoughts, allowing Marvin to stop any entering, or hear the most prominent thought in one’s mind. Xavier assured Marvin that he had much more potential, and told him there were others with unique skills too, other mutants, some with similar to his, some vastly different.

Now he works at the bakery, picking up the slack of his increasingly ill uncle, visiting Xavier when it’s convenient.

Name: Kimberly Sage

Age: 19

Alias: Architect

Appearance:

Abilities: Kimberly can talk to buildings. By touching a building she can know every exit, every room and who is inhabiting it. She also can determine what is inside the house to the letter. However, once the building ends so do her powers. If something is in the backyard for example, she can't detect that. One room cabins are easy on her but mansions can take minutes or even hours for her brain to process and she must stand still and concentrate on the house.

Skills: Fluent in French, skilled in math and geometry, is very artistic and knows how to build shelter

Personality: Flirty, extroverted, passionate, idealistic, caring

Backstory: Born to a rich family in Boston, Massachusetts. Kimberly was the only child of two old money parents who while loved her, seemed to not be in her life often. She was often with nannies or friends. Due to her ability, hide and seek was a specialty. It was overall a simple power that she just wrote off as good guesswork. Then came the voices that began to give her nightmares as they never stopped, she eventually left her home due to the apathy her parents were towards her. As well as the fact that they were more interested in how the Japanese-Americans were getting treated over their own daughter. She began to feel suicidal before Xavier came and told her about her ability and how she was not alone.

Name: Snark O’Bright

Age: 18

Alias: Bandersnatch

Appearance:

Stands at a mere 5’3” and is fair lightweight, Snark is skinny and a fairly pathetic looking guy when it all comes down to it. The markings down his eyes appear to be tattoos but are usually well hidden by his hair being as messy as it is.
He has different appearances depending on how his abilities manifest, may also only appear as claws on his fingers and blackened:

Abilities:

Transformation: Snark may appear normal most of the time, but within him sits a terrifying beast of nightmares. His transformation is regulated by his emotional state, starvation or grievous injury, but there’s no telling what might release this creature if his mutation gets any worse.

Biokinesis: Snark can manipulate the biological structure of his cells, creating weapons out of his body and causing rapid cell growth and die off nearly completely at will. His skin will always be either a tinted green or black while the bone becomes steel-like and extremely durable, the shapes often being twisted and vile versions of said weapons. While it is a possibility for his weapons to become projectiles, that has not quite been accomplished yet and await further tests and trials.

Superhuman strength and healing: He’s stronger than he looks, able to move a fair weight and stand up for himself. His wounds can heal quickly too, but the quicker they heal the closer he is to transforming.

Skills:
Fluent in Japanese and English.
Somewhat streetwise, otherwise doesn’t have much skill at all.

Personality Traits:
Quiet, independent yet shows signs of desiring companionship, moody, focused, cowardly, snarky, greedy for food.

Backstory:

Born in California, he barely lasted long enough with his family to pick up a name for himself. Born with both Japanese and American blood, the boy was left in an orphanage ready to be adopted; however, that’s not always the case, especially for someone of mixed race. Nobody would want a half-breed kid, it was just not going to be a waiting game until he was old enough and able to go out and about on his own. He was ignored in the orphanage, not even a hint to what his true name was and instead he made his own. His name wasn’t quite real, but had a hint of Irish in it despite not knowing how they worked. He stuck with it, even when things got a hell of a lot worse.

The war hit and Snark was still young, but the prejudices against all people Japanese was still there. He was forced out into the world through fear that he too would be taken away to the dreaded concentration camps the US soldiers had set up for Japanese who couldn’t prove their American citizenship, his struggle to exist taking him out onto the streets in a desperate attempt to survive. Scavenging and crime was all he could commit to stay alive.

It went none too bad for as long as he could manage, the war distracting people from the kids who struggled to survive and those who died on the street. Snark was determined to not become one of those other kids who starved to death. For a few years more he continued to live, but as the war slowly came to a close he was soon struggling for food and the gangs managing to profit from it were becoming too numerous. His usual places to find food was becoming simply too hard to get to, people were watching what they threw out and generally starving those who struggled for survival.

Snark was badly affected; he couldn’t find food and was slowly starving to death. Feeling the aches and pains of starvation, Snark began to wander a lot more than just the city, having to search the world beyond for food. He was on the verge of death, his body weakened to the point that it trembled; however, the trembles weren’t natural at all. Soon the trembles became extreme pain, agony that shot down his left arm before shooting all over his body. He thought that was what dying felt like, he could almost feel death’s cold embrace; of course, when the next thing you know is you’re waking up naked you know something’s wrong.

Something definitely happened and he had no idea where he was; in fact, it was a completely different time of the year and not California anymore. He didn’t know where he was or what was happening, but there was definitely something wrong with this scene. With no knowledge to where he was and feeling fairly drafty, all he knew was he wasn’t feeling hungry anymore; in fact, he was feeling full up for once. Finding spare clothes was the easy part, the simplest of clothing was available and would be able to prevent the draft to say the least. Whatever that was happening was certainly freaking him out the more he thought about it, but it was hardly anything compared to the strangeness that was a highly intelligent man that soon came before him and announced that his concerns and confusion were in fact real and definitely worth the level of concern he had been giving them.

Name: Atticus Finch

Age: 18

Alias: Talon

Appearance:
He wears the glasses for show; the lenses are nonprescription, but he sees being underestimated as an advantage.

Abilities: Atticus has extremely keen eyesight, hollow bones, enhanced reflexes, and the leg strength to leap much farther than a normal person. What gives him his alias, however, are the claws protruding from each finger like a hawk's talons. They are retractable, but whenever he feels threatened, they pop out instinctively and he must calm himself or find a safe environment before he can retract them, or simply eliminate the threat.

Skills: Atticus is very acrobatic, able to leap across rooftops with ease, and his talons lend themselves well to climbing, allowing him to scale even brick walls, albeit with some difficulty. His eyesight allows him to see incredible distances and also notice small details in appearance and body language, making him a skilled navigator, and this ability combined with his instincts and increased processing speed allows him to read people fairly accurately after observing them for a relatively short time. Growing up on the streets as he did has given Atticus an acute sense of self-preservation, and as such he is resourceful and frugal, and able to maintain stealth when necessary. He also learned some Russian during his three years with Katrina, but is by no means fluent.

Personality Traits:
Cautious, observant, pragmatic, withdrawn, deferential, thick-skinned

Backstory:
Atticus was born to an Irish immigrant girl when she was 16. He never met his father, he only knows that he was Greek and he was named after him, perhaps in the vain hope that he would hear the name in some bar one day and it would catch his attention, leading to a reunion with his father. When Atticus was four years old, his mother fell ill, and fearing that she wouldn't live to see his fifth birthday, she took him to an orphanage. A few years later, the orphanage fell to the pressures of the Depression, and at the age of six, Atticus was on the streets. His X-gene, though he didn't realize it, manifested when he was quite young, due to the stress and pressure of growing up on the streets, and he soon realized he was more agile and better at noticing things than any other 8-year-old. He used his increased aptitude to eke out an existence, and when he hit puberty, his mutation manifested fully, and violently. On a police patrol through the slums, he noticed a fellow urchin being threatened. Before he had a chance to think it through, he leaped to the girl's aid, catching the cop off-guard and pouncing on him, knocking him onto his back. Atticus started hitting him, and after awhile, he realized his hands were wet. And that the cop had stopped moving. He looked at his hands, now stained red, and noticed the claws for the first time. Terrified, his instincts took over, and he bolted, the girl forgotten.

After that unforgettable incident, he laid low for awhile, terrified of being caught and arrested, or worse. He avoided many of the other urchins, assuming they'd be afraid of him, even though none of them saw what had happened to the cop. After a month or two, he ran into the girl again. He tried to hide, but she walked over to him, showing no sign of fear. Instead, her eyes held gratitude, and curiosity. They were also yellowish-green, with catlike pupils. She introduced herself as Katrina, speaking with an Eastern European accent, and said he was "like her". She took his clawed hands in hers, and looked them over with wonder and appreciation, and it was then that Atticus noticed that her ears were pointed and tufted with... fur? And they seemed to twitch and move as though picking out individual sounds from the low background din of the city. For the next three years, Atticus and Katrina were inseparable, and Atticus was genuinely happy for the first time in his young life, enjoying a friendship and even the beginnings of a romance with the female mutant. Then, two nights after their first kiss, they were running along a rooftop when gunshots rang out, and more a few seconds later from another direction. A stray bullet struck Katrina in the temple, and she fell from the rooftop. Atticus dove after her, their fall miraculously broken by several bags of garbage. But it was too late. As Katrina's blood mingled with the filth from a broken garbage bag, her life left her while in Atticus's arms. He had no time to mourn her loss, however. Footsteps indicated that gunmen were approaching, and they might not think twice about gunning down some kid in the alley. So he took Katrina's body, slung it over his shoulder, and bolted.

In his years scrounging and thieving with Katrina, he had saved as much as he could, and he spent all of it to give Katrina a proper burial, in a cemetery and everything. He was the only one at her funeral, but it was more than most street kids got. He spent the next three years picking up odd jobs, not caring what he did or who he did it for, as long as he could keep himself going. He stole, sabotaged, even killed a few people, all so he could make enough money to pay rent on a small apartment and eat proper meals. One of his employers tasked him with stealing from a man named Charles Xavier. On the night he went to execute the job, after breaking into Xavier's house, a voice, surprisingly calm, sounded in... his head? "I know why you're here. You can take what you wish, I won't stop you. Or, you can listen to what I have to offer, and learn to be better. I know what you are. I can help you." Atticus decided to listen to what the man had to say; after all, if he was powerful enough to get inside his head, he'd be able to track him back to his employers and it would be all over, and there was little point in running. He decided to take Xavier's offer and begin learning at the Xavier Institute.

-The girl taught herself how to hot wire a vehicle when she was ten years old.
-Ari has been treating injuries since she was a child, knowing how to stitch up open wounds, surgically remove bullet remains, and bandage properly.

Personality Traits:
Defiant, Cautious, Hot-tempered, Self-reliant, Determined, and Relentless.

Back Story:
Young Ari was raised on a military base from infantry. After her mother's passing due to a car accident that she'd survived, her father had been given sole custody of the girl. Even so, her father could not leave his fellow operatives, relying on the nurses to care for his child while he was shipped off to Europe and Asia. Although given the opportunity to care for his child, Ari's father chose not to accept said offer, pointing out that his duty was to serve his country, regardless of if he had a child.

Entrusting the nurses with Ari's life, Ari was raised in a facility where injured soldiers were transported to from Europe. As a toddler, growing in this area baffled the little girl, but to the nurses surprise, it did not startle her. Even the most gruesome injuries (which was rarely seen) had Ari curious and concerned.

At the age of six, her father returned after having been gone for several months. He stayed for no more than two weeks, all the while hardly acknowledging his daughter's presence. A nurse that she'd grown attached to by the name of Eleanor, informed her that her father was a very busy man, and would soon take into consideration that she required his attention. Ari, of course, did not understand, but she did her best to leave him be, returning to where she was most comfortable – with the nurses and the patients.

With her father gone nearly all of her childhood, Ari decided it best to befriend some of the patients while they recovered. When some were in pain, Ari would sing. When others were bored, she would read. When others requested to talk, she never bothered to catch her breath. Patients grew to love her, and knew her to the point where she was like their family. Ari would often times make them cards or give them a stuffed animal that she had enjoyed when she was much younger. Not a single patient would go unnoticed by young Ari.

By the age of nine, her father had started to come home more often. Slowly but surely, the two connected again, and when Ari wasn't assisting the nurses, she and her father would do things together. He took her to meet some of his closest friends that he'd fought alongside, and introduced her to a boy her age, something that wasn't common on military grounds. Ari had been home schooled from a very early age, and hadn't had the company of anyone under the age of nineteen. This boy, all but a year older than her, became her best friend.

His name was Tyler.

Tyler was different from everyone else on the base. He attended school like normal kids did and told her about the things they did in class. She enjoyed hearing about his day to day activities, and even did his homework for him when he struggled. Every day she would wait for him to be released from school so that they could play until it was time for him to go home.

One day, Tyler didn't come. Ari had waited for hours on end in hopes that he would arrive at any moment, but he never did. His dad hadn't been at the base in a while either. Her father informed her that Tyler had been killed. A school shooting. Five kids had died. One of them being Tyler.

Ari didn't come out of her room for days. She laid in bed staring up at the ceiling, tears streaming down her face as her heart ached for the return of her best friend. To this day, she doesn't remember the funeral. She assumes that it was too traumatic for her to recall, being that she'd been so close to the boy. She hadn't started functioning properly until a whole month after his death.

She returned to her post to help the nurses. When a patient was in pain, Ari held the job of assuring them it would be alright. Her tactic was to have them look into her eyes and focus solely on her as she spoke softly to them, insisting that everything would be okay. She hadn't known until a nurse had pointed it out that her abilities had started forming.

In the midst of asking a man to settle down, a nurse pointed to her and screamed. She referred to Ari as the devil, for her eyes were pitch black. Ari was taken aback by the nurse's sudden reaction, and scrambled to the bathroom where she found that her eyes were just as the nurse had seen them. Completely black.

Unsure of her next move, Ari did not think – she simply ran. She sprinted out of the building, far away even as sirens blared. She heard her father calling her name, but she didn't stop for him, either. She kept running. For what had felt like days, Ari hid in an abandoned shack, deciding to migrate in the direction of civilization.

Upon coming about a town, Ari encountered a man by the name of Charles Xavier. He was charming, and gentle. Calming, even. Accepting to have a cup of coffee with him, Ari did her best to tell the man that she was from Tennessee, coming to visit New York where her alleged aunt lived. Xavier did not hesitate to mention that he knew she was lying through her teeth seeing as he was a mind reader. She hadn't believed him at first, but soon, the two turned to the same page, Xavier then telling her about about a sanctuary where Ari would be given the opportunity to live peacefully amongst fellow mutants and practice her flourishing abilities.

Ari was fairly reluctant of this. While she was open to the man, she didn't trust him. Not entirely. Xavier understood that. He made no more efforts to change her mind. Xavier then payed for the bill – leaving behind extra money for her to spend the night at a motel – and gave her a single card that had an address on it.

An address that could change her life.

Name: Henry Joseph Warwick

Age: 19

Alias: Leech

Appearance:

Abilities:

'Leeching': While it may appear that Henry simply has a healing factor, his body actually steals from those around him, under his control if he remains conscious, but otherwise acting instinctively (there is some precedent of his subconscious 'going for' threats over allies, but it's sporadic at best). If standing in a crowd of people, this can be so unnoticeable as to make those around him slightly more tired, but individually it can be much worse, eventually simply passing the injury onto the other, if only one other person is within a certain distance of him (fluctuating, like most untrained mutants).

Skills:

Wartime Skills: Like most young men, Henry has fought and near enough died in the Second World War. While there wasn't much in the way of formal training for the early conscripts, experience and later drills turned Henry into a true soldier and survivalist, to the point that civilian life seems rather...easy. The lack of challenge in his life, beyond hiding his mutation, has actually become a big of a grinding psychological issue for the young man. Despite being a rifleman, and thus now being a fair shot, the main skills that have transitioned to civilian combat is close quarters combat, be that with fists or whatever weapon he has to have, if you couldn't fight dirty, you didn't survive.

Into the Breach Men!: Despite his youth, on multiple occasions throughout the war, Henry found himself in a position with no surviving immediate officers, and the only man present with enough spine to actually start making calls, thus he's fairly accomplished at motivating people, then making sure they all get it done.

Ironsights: There isn't much that shakes Henry anymore, be it done to himself or to others, his eyes, heart and stomach have seen to much to flip at gruesome sights and experiences.

Codebreaking: When he was later promoted, having shown signs of being fairly capable with technology, to a platoon radio officer, Henry taught himself (with communication to people more skilled in the area) to break various in-battlefield German codes. On that note, he also speaks German, although refused to learn French, properly.

Personality Traits:
Sarcastic, outwardly arrogant, gentleman, traumatized, survivor, warrior.

Backstory:

Born to middle-class land owners in Devon (although with some connection to the Southern Midlands upper class family of Warwick) Henry was privately educated, and thus 'escaped' the South-Western accent, instead picking up the more widely renown 'British' accent, much lauded across the Atlantic. Despite most high achieving private schools, and later universities, still very much being the haunting grounds of the upper class, Henry made enough friends among said group to have a comfortable time, and a possibility of convincing a university to take him on despite his 'disadvantages of character.' During his time at school, his mutation remained a mystery to both him and others, although he always seemed to 'bounce back' surprisingly fast from hits and injuries on the rugby field (at a slight loss of energy to the other team, but that was never noticed).

Any hopes for further education were dashed by the war. While in the first years of conflict Henry was too young for feasibly pass as 18, even to the very lenient eyes of the recruitment officers, at the age of 15, Henry enlisted, just in time for the last year of strategic defeats for the British Army. Being one of the few reinforcements sent to the East African campaign at the time, Henry found himself in an army group outnumbered in the hundreds of thousands by the Italian East African Empire. The fighting was as harsh, if not harsher, than anywhere else in the world. Despite a generally textbook withdrawal, during the Italian capture of British Somaliland, Henry was taken prisoner by the Italians, before they attempted to interrogate him, within a local village. Henry was eventually discovered by members of the Ethiopian Nationalist forces, fighting alongside the British, among a horrific scene. Despite being bound and gagged, Henry was discovered wide eyed, surrounded by the bloody mess of six Italians. In the moment of extreme stress and pain, Henry's mutation had finally revealed itself in full, as the enemy had attempted to torture him slowly to death, they had unknowingly killed themselves, when it came to just two remaining, one had put a bullet in Henry's skull, only to find it signing a death warrant for himself and his companion. Despite how mad the situation had sounded to Henry himself, the militias who found him seemed to nod, speaking of tribal shamans in broken English. Henry was set free and allowed to regroup with the remaining British forces, the Ethiopians never revealing the circumstance of his rescue.

Throughout the remainder of the war, Henry fought with distinction and courage, never truly advancing high in ranking, but showing great heroism in the face of the war. The young man 'survived' many missions that were deemed suicidal, often being one of few survivors, usually helping injured or near-dead companions back to friendly lines. For that he eventually earned himself the Victoria Cross, after a brief stint in a hospital due to post-traumatic stress disorder (although, not really called such), Henry took part in the D-Day landings, having returned home for the medical obligation. Fighting alongside Americans somewhat endeared Henry to them, although he was always quick to deal out withering banter along the lines of comparison between the two Anglo-nations. By the time the war came to its bloodshot end in Europe, Henry was willing to be among those British soldiers that were to be moved in support of the American campaign in the Pacific. When that to came to a close in Nuclear fire, Henry never returned to England, instead being convinced by an American officer who had been 'watching' him, and expressed that the young man should contact a 'friend' of his, one Charles Xavier. In the process of moving to the States to join said group, Henry has very much enjoyed a popular time for 'Brits' in the US, especially one with war stories and the medals to prove it.

Name: Scott Summers

Age: 19

Alias: Cyclops

Appearance:

Scott stands at a height of 6'1" and due to his intense martial arts training possesses an exceedingly fit physique. Dark hair and blue eyes contribute to a rugged sort of "pretty boy" look, and when his ability threatens to break free of his control his eyes begin to emit a ruby-colored glow that can even be seen through his eyelids.

Abilities:
Optic blasts - Scott's primary mutant power is the ability to release ruby-colored blasts of pure kinetic energy from his eyes, which are in actuality inter-dimensional portals between this universe and a non-Einsteinian universe where physical laws as we know them do not pertain. This non-Einsteinian universe is filled with particles that resemble photons, yet they interact with this universe's particles by transferring kinetic energy to any object they touch. Currently, he possesses only enough control to open and close these portals, and is unable to vary the intensity or focus of the blasts. When the blasts first manifested, they possessed enough power to annihilate a german tank platoon, half an infantry company, and a fair amount of the countryside in only a matter of seconds.

While the blasts themselves produce no heat, the immense friction they generate on contact with an object can very quickly superheat most materials, and thus it is not uncommon for the blasts to leave fires and red-hot melted metal in their wake. Another function of the blasts that Scott has yet to learn is the ability to create a resonance with any solid object, which allows the blast to ricochet off the object without causing any damage, giving him the ability to fire "banked shots" and hit multiple targets at once or targets that are out of his direct line of sight. While full resonance will cause no harm to the object being resonated, partial resonance will still impart kinetic force to the target, while also allowing the blast to ricochet to another target. With training, Scott will also be capable of resonating his blasts with multiple objects simultaneously, thus enabling him to ricochet a single blast off of several different surfaces. The blasts naturally possess no resonance with any objects in this universe and so by default will impart vast kinetic force (and heat as a byproduct) to any object they strike.

Psionic field - This aspect of his ability is a field of psionic energy that encapsulates Scott's entire body and allows him to control the release of energy from his eyes, in addition to making the rest of his body immune to its effects. Upon learning how to manipulate this field, Scott will be able to vary both the intensity and focus of his blasts, as well as create a resonance with solid objects in this universe. At present, however, he is only capable of manipulating it to open and close the portals in his eyes and as such is unable to avoid obliterating everything in front of him when the portals are open, which is unfortunately their default state. In order to avoid such destruction, Scott must maintain constant mental control or risk opening the portals and releasing immense destructive energy upon the world around him (that, or keep his eyes closed).

A secondary effect of this psionic field is the resistance it provides against the energy and psionic-based powers of other mutants. While this ability makes Scott entirely immune to his own powers, it also grants him some resistance against energy being manipulated by other mutants, especially in the case of those that absorb energy (as its primary purpose is to withhold the vast amount of energy being forced into his body from the other universe). In the case of psychics, the psionic field resonates with the energy it is containing to produce a form of psychic static, which when combined with his iron will makes his mind difficult to read and influence.

Spatial Awareness - Scott's sense of spatial awareness and geometry is superhumanly acute, and will allow him to instinctively deduce the correct angles involved in banking his blasts to hit multiple targets with perfect accuracy. This ability also extends to his understanding of physics in general, and allows him to predict various scenarios based on the angles, directions, and forces involved. For instance, he could predict where a building will fall based on which supports are removed and how various forces will react to such a change, allowing him to utilize the environment to his advantage in conjunction with his optic blasts (or even without them).

Skills:
Leadership - Military service during the war has allowed Scott's natural leadership skills to blossom, and even after being shot down he displayed remarkable tactical ability when he turned a broken and scattered unit back into a cohesive fighting force.
Willpower - While scott is naturally very stubborn and hardheaded, his willpower was put to the ultimate test once his optic blasts manifested and containing them required that he maintain complete mental control.
Martial Artist - In order to help develop his control, Scott turned to intensive physical training and exercise in the form of eastern martial arts, embracing the philosophy that greater control of the physical body equals greater control of one's mental state.
Pilot - As a child, Scott was given flying lessons by his father and when he reached the age of seventeen, joined the army air corps. Following the war he 'borrowed' a plane from his father in order to facilitate his global travel in pursuit of a way to better control his ability.

Personality Traits:
Stubborn, intelligent, and very in control. Scott is generally direct and honest in his dealings with others, which can sometimes come off as condescension or arrogance. Possessing a very analytical mind does not help with this, and in combination with the danger inherent in his ability it means that he generally prefers to be alone.

Backstory:
Born in 1927 in Anchorage Alaska, Scott grew up around the planes his father had always been obsessed with. When Scott was seven, his father opened a small aviation company in his hometown that would quickly grow into a booming business. All was well until the war arrived in America and the draft was instituted, calling his father away to serve. Scott followed when he reached the age of fifteen and joined the air corps himself by lying on his application (everyone always said he looked older than he was), and was shipped off to europe on his sixteenth birthday. The following two years would be rough, to say the least.

He was several months into his first deployment, flying support for a ground incursion behind the german lines, when he had his first brush with enemy fighters. He managed to shoot down three of the planes before he himself was shot down and forced to crash land several miles ahead of the american and british troops, miles that were filled with german soldiers and tanks. It was to his great surprise that he discovered a unit of friendlies, cut off from their company and trying just as hard as he was to simply stay alive, and rather than simply make a mad run for it over a dozen miles of hostile terrain and straight into the back of the german lines, he rallied the few soldiers with him and set about a small but effective campaign of harassment. Each series of attacks was designed to create a gap in the german lines just large enough for one or two men to sneak through unnoticed, and in the course of four days all but three of the two dozen stranded soldiers had been returned to the allied side of the engagement. It was then that things took a drastic downhill turn.

During what was to be the last attack in the campaign of harassment, the german commanders, thinking they were facing a force much larger than four men, had worked out the location of the attack and committed a full tank platoon and half a company of soldiers to squash the nuisance. Pinned down and massively outgunned, Scott's ability chose that particular moment, fueled by adrenaline and the rage of helplessness, to manifest itself and burn every trace of the german force from the countryside. With the germans gone, his three comrades were able to carry him to the safety of the british forward command center and under the guise of blindness he received an honorary discharge from the army and was sent home. It took him three months before he could open his eyes again without devastating everything in front of him, and once he was able to maintain control for at least seven hours, he took one of his father's planes and set out in search of a way to either remove or permanently control his new and dangerous ability.

His travels eventually took him to the east, in pursuit of the 'complete control' touted by the practitioners of such arts as wushu, karate, and muay thai. While these practices certainly helped, they did not grant him the absolute control he sought and so he returned home to live alone in the mountains, where his ability could only harm the stone and trees. It was here that the call from Xavier found him, and as a man with no better options left, he decided to make the journey to New York and find out what this professor had to offer.
