Dresden's brow furrowed a bit, head cocking, confused.. "You--you realize this is professional right? You have professionally shown me exactly zero of the skills you think you have, as opposed to most of the other techies on this ship who have professionally proven to me personally to be competent. Professionally prove yourself and I'll professionally let you touch my stuff, but until then stop acting like I should just be wowed by your presence here. Once you're on the Dawn, just being good enough to get here isn't impressive anymore. We all did that."

She was---well, maybe not a professional person, but not a dumbass, and quick to offend when someone implied she was. Everything she said was accurate--he'd sauntered on and shown them he ... could work a computer. The Demon was pickier than that with people she let do her laundry.

"Enough!" Varus shouted, slamming a fist onto the table, causing a ripple of diodes to pulse across it's full length. "I may be considered the father of this ship, but that doesn't mean you can bicker like children. Ren, as far as I know the new software has already been transferred and is already being updated on all of our systems. We are not done and could use some help in the computer lab if you would be so kind." He finished, his tone still aggravated and his right hand pointing to the door.

"Dresden. I know you love your job, but if you won't let us modify our gear to be better protected from a cyber sense, I don't care how tough you make it, or how fast you can make it shoot. We need software to compliment the hardware. Find a different tech if you so inclined." Dresden meant well, but the way she was handling this was all wrong. Her mind was in the right, but her mouth... good lord that couldn't be in a worse place.

"Jack, nobody needs to touch your body if you don't want, but this update is for the computer systems of our armor and gear. If you don't get it, you'll be less effective and weaker on the field of battle, more susceptible to technological attacks. You want that? To have somebody push a button and find that your skin retracts and your plates as well?" he could sympathize with Jack, her armor being a part of her, but even then, updates could never hurt.

Ryder tilt his head to the side, seeing this outburst of Varus' as a very rare thing. But he wasn't being chastised, so he wasn't bothered. Though he did break his look of Teeth and began leaving the room. Without the leave to, but hey, he does his own thing. Kind of comes with being huge and able to bench a tank.

Rennac was about to reply about how he was not demanding praise but simply trying to work when Varus spoke up. Of course he hadn't had the chance to show his ability, how could he when no one would let him do his goddamn job. He turned to the fuming boss and nodded, figuring it best to leave to assist the tech team. Dresden wouldn't listen to him anymore than he could get some hulking beast to serve a five star dinner. Still, he couldn't let the rage build up. He did that once before he got into the workforce and that ended VERY badly. He needed to immerse himself in his work, walking quickly to the computer lab and starting to update the core systems and keep them protected. He put his built up frustration to good use and started to hammer away at the updates, working with the technicians there and helping get the system up and running with the new protocols.Thankfully the techies warmed up to him considerably faster than Dresden and the others, using his knowledge of the update complimented the tech division's intimate knowledge of the ship's systems helped to make the update run more quickly.

Dresden as well nodded, but similarly felt her own stance was viable--there were better ways to show you could do your job than demanding access to personal property, after all, and reasonable as he felt his offer, she felt it otherwise. Still, PR was never her strong suit--one of the only reasons she wasn't higher up on the metaphorical totem pole than she was now. Which she was perfectly fine with--her superiors respected her ability enough to just leave her to it, and while she mostly just did basic maintenance work, she liked it. Mindless, simple, gave her mind time to wander.

Jackdaw didn't quiver in the face of Varus's anger. She didn't feel in the wrong, she was protecting herself. It didn't matter to her what Rennac purported to be able to do, the man had not yet gained the right, nor the trust to implement any changes to her. Even if Varus sided with him, she would not allow it to be made by him.

She did find it interesting when Rennac practically stormed out. Running away in the face of resistance didn't speak any more in his favor, at least that's what it looked like to her. Still, she did not falter from attention, waiting and focusing on Varus until he officially brought the meeting to an end. After that, it'd just be a matter of prepping herself for the mission.

Varus put a palm to his face. Part from the little argument that happened, and a larger part for how he handled it. As a Captain he is suppose to be the rock that the entire ship knows is unbreakable. Whether it was true or not, they just had to see it that way.

"I know he's new and untrusted, but you all have to remember that he is here on the ship. I don't trust him either, not yet anyway, but we all have to realize that he is working here for our side. Give him a chance to prove himself. This mission I'm bringing him along, hopefully he can get out of this rut we just got done putting him in." He said, his voice almost exasperated.

"Everybody gather your things, it's a four day fly to Hakov and it will go by quickly."

Dresden shrugged. "He can prove himself the way the rest of us did--by not demanding to jack with our personal property." Still, she lifted two fingers in her customary wave, and stepped lazily out of the room. She wasn't Ground Team, after all--missions like this, the land-and-sort-it-out-variety, were pretty much just extra shore leave for her except instead of getting on the shore and being on leave she can just hide in her room. Almost as good.

Jackdaw gave a salute to Varus as the meeting was closed. She was more than willing to save everything for the mission. If Rennac had any semblance of real potential, they'd see it in a few days.

When she left the war room, she made her way straight to the armory. First priority was her weapons; a rifle, and a sidearm. She'd had some training with other firearms, but nothing as in depth as the those, and she wanted to be on-point. As for her other things, she really didn't have many other possessions to speak of that would be useful on a mission. She packed a few food items, a few drinks, but for the most part everything she needed was with her.

Ah, wait, she'd almost forgotten; from her closet she snagged an old hoodie. She didn't really get cold, but it was comfortable, and on the rides to their missions, it served to form a soft barrier between her and the others. She wasn't any good at idle conversation, it would do just as much good for the others as it would for her. So, it went into the bag with the food and drink, and that was set aside for later.

Four days, she could manage that. She'd more than likely spend most of that in the gym anyway.

Taerys almost melted into the background as soon as everything started kicking off, stepping back against a nearby wall and crossing her arms. She wanted no part in those shenanigans, especially not after she'd already been involved in some today. The animosity Jackdaw and Dresden had towards Rennac was understandable but it wasn't what they should have shown. First impressions were everything and Rennac clearly hadn't had a good first impression of them.

The Varyx shrugged lightly as she watched people take their leave again. They were, as hard as it was to believe with some people sometimes, all professionals here and they were going to leave their personal relations between each other back on the ship once they were all on Hakov. At least, that's what she hoped would happen. "You think maybe we should have warned Rennac about Jackdaw and Dresden before he got here?" Taerys smirked, pushing herself forward again.

Varus let out a sigh when it was only Teeth and Tearys in the room with him as Claire did a bow and left them for her duties. Once again he held his face within the palm of his hand.

"Probably." He said plainly and flatly into his hand, making the muffled sentence for the two to here. "I know they mean well, but... damn it. You'd think they would have a better way to show it."

He let out another sigh and removed his hand from his head, scratching the back of his head he turned to face the Varyx woman. "But what are you going to do? He is a green, unproven on any field. I'd treat him the same way and I know for a fact you would too. The only difference is that I've read about him and I have to give him a chance. Just like I did for all of you."

"Do you think i messed up?" He had to pose the question. After all, he wasn't perfect, even if the job asked him to be.

Teeth shrugged. He didn't agree with Dresden or Jackdaw, not really--he was here for a reason, after all, had to be a quality technician or he wouldn't be here. But still, he could absolutely understand their apprehension. He didn't speak in defense of either group--he didn't, personally, think either one was handling themselves well. He certainly knew that most new techies didn't immediately jump into altering the machinery of every person on board, Dresden was right about that, but at the same time he was in the war room, so it was hard to completely write him off.

Quietly, Teeth waved a bit, shrugging lightly and scooting off.

Taerys sighed quietly to herself, nodding once at Teeth as he left. She didn't like seeing Varus question himself like that, but then again she guessed that it was a good quality to have; he wasn't overly self-centred and egoistic at least. "Messed up? No. It's just how they are. I don't think you or anyone else can change that. Rennac will get used to it, just like everyone else has. He'll settle in and find his place. Until then we just need to make sure that Jackdaw and Dresden don't overstep the mark." The Varyx shrugged nonchalantly but smiled gently. "I don't trust him either, but you'd think that the Alliance would be able to root out any spies or saboteurs before they got onto their most advanced ships." She remained silent for a second or two. "He was only trying to help. You can't blame him for that, and you can't blame yourself for any of it either."

Varus collected himself, it wasn't easy having people to look after, but he had to have been chosen for the job for a reason, whether he knew it or not. The mission held sway here, it was what needed to be done and would either be the chance Rennac needs to prove himself or the coffin that he'd be buried in.

"Thanks Tearys." He said curtly and almost tenderly, an unusual thing for him. Caring was easy, but showing his care wasn't always the most clear thing. Tearys seemed to have a way though. Maybe it was the culture similarities, maybe because she was part of a very small team with him, or maybe because she was kind of cute. Hell, maybe a combination of the three.

Anyway, he had to get ready just like everybody else and so did Tearys, "I won't keep you, we'll be at Hakov soon enough. Go and get your things."

He then took his leave to visit the armory, checking his twin pistols, armor, and his custom sniper that he loved more than himself. A beautiful specimen of combat technology and roughly six feet long besides. able to fire every know ammo type and rounds up to 65mm. It's scope able to switch between normal, thermal, and infrared. Equipped with a ranger program to tell him how far out his target was. This weapon cost more than the rest of his gear combined and took years of service combined with a few bribes to get in his possession.

After that, it was off to the Command Bridge to get the ship moving in the right direction officially starting the four day timer.

Dresden returned to her room after getting the updates recommended--from a techie acquaintance, on the ship since a bit before she got on herself, who'd done good work as long as she'd known her. Her pocket contents were still spread over the cot, and she swept them to the foot of it with a quick wipe of her tail as she pulled her locker open, pulling out a small laptop type device--not quite useful enough to be called a personal computer, but good for checking messages, and downloaded full of games and a few books. She clicked it on, dropping backwards onto the bed, sparing a glance at the wall above her pillow before clicking onto games. The only decoration in the small bunk was a four by seven photograph, held up by two pieces of scotch tape, depicting a young boy with shaggy dark hair and wide brown eyes and arms wrapped around a girl--slitted gold eyes and dark yellow hair, clearly a young Dresden--who seemed to be caught mid-squirm, though her face still stretched into a grin.

With a few deft swipes of her thumb, Dresden pulled up some mystery adventure game and started playing. Nothing to do until the mission was done--settled in for the long haul.

Teeth was at least marginally more productive, packing up most of the basic supplies that the ground medics would need--he knew he didn't quite cover everything, but he had a few quick first-aid kits for them ready and boxed for when they arrived, and placed near the start of the medical ward where they'd be easily seen and picked up. Following that, he double-checked the organization of the stations--just in case people needed to pick up some more specific stuff--and then headed back to his own bunk.

His was more decorated--framed photographs of himself, landscapes, locals, various pictures of varying qualities, some seeming almost professional and some clearly amateurish. Scattered between these were the trinkets he'd collected before--the little rock, little necklaces and arrowheads, many of which were crude and unpolished, but every one held it's own charm and little aura of home. The new bracelet was gently balanced atop a frame holding a picture of a field of flowers--various colours, messy and unorganized, but the sun striking each one so that it glowed.

He, too, curled into his bed, snagging his reader off the table that served as his nightstand, and flipping it open to whatever page of the dimestore romance novel he was currently reading.

Rennac's mood was somewhat improved by the attitude of the other technicians who were on board the Argent Dawn, having been able to whack through the updates while he got an in depth look at much of the changes to the system they had made. Only a day on and he was already proud of the work his department did. "All thats left is a few of the climate control systems, though the late shift will likely have that finished by tomorrow." Since the updates were almost done he could focus on simply maintaining the system and getting ready for the mission. For now though, he needed rest. He arrived back at his small room, walls still bare for the most part before he reached in his bag and pulled out a simple picture, him and a human both in Black Ops armor chuckling in the barracks.

He smiled at the happy memory for a brief moment before a twinge of sorrow crept through him, knowing no matter how many times he saw the picture, he would never see that smiling face again, all because some idiot thought he was better than his teammates and wouldn't work with them. Half his unit dead and he nearly went and shot the moron who caused it. Still, he was happy enough with how it ended. The moron was dishonorably discharged, stripped of all rank, and lost his pension. The service was memorable though the remaining unit was scattered out through the rest of the Alliance military.

He shook the thought out of his head, thinking on today instead. "Damn, guess today opened an old wound.." He laid down on his bed and pulled out his own computer, setting up some RPG game for him to play and pass the time. Military or not he was still a complete and total geek through and through.

A brief nod of acknowledgement at Varus as he left was enough. For a few moments, Taerys stood in the war room alone with her arms crossed. Thoughts about what the next week or so could bring were racing through her mind. She didn't make too much of it, but for a couple of seconds she completely forgot that she was in that room alone. Only the sporadic beeps and occasional pulsating red lights were there to accompany her.

With a sigh, she began to make her way to her quarters. It'd been 3 years since she'd joined this ship, yet it all still had such an alien vibe to her. Varyx were a very new species to the galactic community and it showed with Taerys. Everyone else seemed to be comfortable with all this fancy space travel and advanced tech. Taerys, not so much. Honestly, she'd rather not have to wear any armour at all; she'd already reduced her armour it to a practically bare-bones state. Although she did realise what the advantages of wearing it were, she tried to make herself as independent of it as physically possible and no matter how hard anyone tried, they weren't going to change her views. In the meantime, she still had to figure out a way to make 4 days pass quickly. If anything, the mission was going to be easier than that...

Four days... four days in a black void of stars and planets, avoiding the later two to save time, they bolted through space at several thousand meters per second. Each day food was served, training was held and bonds were forged or broken every moment of it.

Weapons were checked and prepped, supplies were made a stock and counted to make sure the voyage would have plenty of food and bullets, and the vehicles stored aboard were oiled up, fueled up, and generally maintained.

And before long, "Attention crew, we have arrived at Hakov II, all hands to your stations. The away team is to head to the hanger, good luck down there." Claire's voice came from over the PA system.

Varus was having dinner when her voice came over the speakers, a simple meal prepared by the ship's cook, Korv. A good man, very well built for being a cook, but he did a great job at feeding the ship. But when he heard, he took the tray with him, eating on the way to the armory, Almost finishing, but not just there yet. Throwing away the remaining at a disposal shoot, tray and all to be sorted by the ship's trash system. Grabbing his weapons and armor, only putting on the legs, holstering the pistols at his hips and carrying the rest to the hanger.

The hanger had a few extra hands in it now, moving hoses and lines from and to one of the two dropships, clearly the one they would be taking.

Varus then began to take his time putting on all his armor and slinging his sniper over his shoulder.

Four freaking days either doing basic upkeep, training when Jack or one of the other members of the ship that despised him weren't using it, or being cramped in his room playing games to pass the time. Well, the last one wasn't so bad considering he found it most invigorating but still. He saved his progress and went to the armory, donning his modified armor and prepping his pistols and knife, grabbing two silencers for his pistols should he need to kill quietly from afar. Doing one final check on his gear, weapons, and armor he made his way down to the hanger. Soon enough he managed to arrive shortly after Varus, taking a seat on one of the crates of supplies there once he was sure it wasn't filled with either machine parts or weaponry. God knows he would get flack from either Dresden or Jackdaw if they saw him using one of those crates as a chair. "Good to see you sir. How will we be running this op? Have the infiltration team move in first to clear the area before the rest of the ground team arrives or go in all at once?"

Six heard the call from his bunk, and rolled off of the bed. He was new to the ship--hadn't had much interaction yet, hadn't done much of anything really. His partner wasn't here with him, and with only a handful of years of "life" on him, he felt lost and unsure of things without Hark there. They were like brothers by this point, and Six barely knew how to get around without the larger man's help. Still, he pulled his armor from his locker, tugging the tight material over his body and opting to carry the helmet to the hanger under one arm. Hark would come soon enough, just a few more yards of tape to get through, and they'd be working together again.

The captain was there, along with a techie he didn't recognize, and Six walked towards them with the sharp sting of apprehension in his stomach. He stepped up with a straight posture and firm step, and offered a formal salute. "Sir."

The four days couldn't have gone by fast enough. Jackdaw was accustomed to powering through small amounts of time between missions, but that didn't make them any less aggravating. When the announcement came around, she moved; and quickly. Everything had already been set, and now that they would actually be heading out all that remained was her armor.

When she made her way into the hanger, it was donned for the most part. Her legs from the knee down were enclosed in off-white plated armor, designed simply save for the clawed feet -though the actual digging portions were retracted. Her arms from the forearm down were similarly covered, and her shoulders bore close-fitting spaulders. The armor at her chest trailed down to just below her solar-plexus with another section on her back and continuing down her spine. The rest of her body, up to her neck, was covered by a metallic-black substance, like false skin, dense enough to offer modesty. She often waited to don her helmet until deploying. Even though it was designed to offer her the same vision her eyes would, when she wasn't fueled by the rush of combat, or she wasn't looking to actively ignore someone, it was something of a bother. She kept her pack slung over her shoulder, her sidearm hooked to a latch on her belt, and her rifle in hand.

There were others there already; Varus of course had to be there earlier than the rest. There was Rennac as well, but she didn't pay him much mind. He was present, and early, which was a pleasant surprise at the very least. Then there was Six. To be honest, she hadn't read over what they were given on him much past the fact that he was on the ground-team. That -to her- was the most important part. He was an ally in combat, but he was also competition. Aside from them, they only needed a few more, as far as she knew.

"Captain," she greeted with a salute, and then took a stand alongside the others while they waited.
