Use itself wouldn't be the only factor in how many rounds are left around either. You got to take into consideration the environment their in. I wouldn't doubt that over time the powder or the casing of the bullets would deteriorate over time leading to a situation where they could misfire or are inoperable. You can only make matters worse by storing them inappropriately. Moisture can deteriorate the casing or even the lubrication between it and the bullet itself.

Its kind of hard to store rounds improperly unless your outright do so like in the mud, dirt, and just left there. There are many stockpiles of 50-60 year old ammunition still being sold off, commonly known calibers like .303 and 7.62x54mmR. Going to sites like gunbroker will yield ammunition that can be easily 100+ years old. Another thing is that Fallout doesn't like to put expiration dates on some of their things, as is known with the number of microwave entrees that you can go out and find.

While moisture is a valid issue, the post-nuclear wasteland in most places doesn't have to deal with it. In fact the dry heat that would be common in most places is excellent in preserving things, proof of this can be seen in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Dinh AaronMk said You may also get a lot of people who aren't trained to use guns as the US Military is. Even consideration to "Spray and pray" tactics are given then the number of rounds that would hit a target raises even higher than they do already.

This is a true fact that I kind of skipped over, however, it wouldn't effect much as there are still tens of billions of rounds. Plus it doesn't take long for someone to sit down and try to study a weapon system to learn it. You could easily devote a good 4 hours of each day of a weekend to learning the basic operation, loading and firing of an AR-15.

Dinh AaronMk said This is on top of military stockpiles no doubt being in places that would have been nuked in the exchange and damaging them further, trapping them under heavy rubble, or just making the conditions in retrieving them all around unfriendly to the lay scavenger.

This is a very valid point as well, however a number of places in all the games have former military installations that weren't attacked, DC is filled with them. The White Legs were able to obtain a large number of rifles, machine guns and ammunition from a National Guard armory and it was enough to arm the few hundred or so that made up the White Legs.

All valid points either way.

Apologies for not actively posting, work has been harder than expected. Hopefully tomorrow will be easy, if not I have a lot of weekend freetime. Regardless, put my character on auto pilot to H&H if it helps make things go by faster. I'll be able to get a post out tomorrow or Saturday at the latest.

You don't understand-- it's so fun when you're high, though. Like, there's a fucking samurai, holy shit! And a cowboy, gee that's rad! And a black chick that call you a ho!

Like whoah. Ancient aliens man, wild stuff.

Now now, try to wait to kill each other in the game.

Should be ON THE ROAD soon.

Be thinking about what kind of shenanigans we can get into in New Reno.

Oh yes, oh yes! While new vegas has excellent story DLC, 3's DLC definately is something to take a break with from the mainstory

For some reason I didn't find New Vegas quite as enjoyable all around as I did three... It all just seemed really bland to me... Gameplay itself was better in comparison... actually having iron sights... all the new weapons... etc, etc. That was all good... but overall it just didn't feel right.....

I think I might have found out what bothered me the other day... There is pretty much NOTHING random about NV... everything is scripted. Every event, encounter and so on. There's no random enclave drops while exploring, no UFOs exploding in the sky (After three days of hunting I had finally gotten firelance for the first time >.>) and your actions have little to no impact on the world as you play it. Sure you hear Mr. NV talk about it, but it's not as personal as 3dog was... At least FO3 had random encounters to show you the impact of what you did (vault 101 survivors out in the wastes, the wasteland survival student,)

The most randomness that NV gives you is the assassins that come after you... but there isn't even any variety between them, they always have the exact same gear as the last set that came after you and they're just as powerful at level 5 as they are level 20... which of course really fucks you over at level 5 when you're playing on hard difficulty and a legionaire assassin squad decides to hunt your ass down... took me almost 20 grenade launchers to the face to even scratch the one Centurion...

I turned on wild wasteland to try and fix that. So far, nothing, but only about four hours in.

The only thing Wild Wasteland does is turn on a few easter eggs. Its only use is a perk to take with no negative side-effects to make a [hopefully] more pro character with less downsides.

Its only practical use is getting the alien blaster.

Much like how i like Fallout 1 more then Fallout 2 because i like the bleek and dark story/locations then the more bright and comical Fallout 2 or NV because i like the apocalyptic world that was more serious then a inside joke. With Fallout 3 it was more dark and i can always go back to it then NV.
