Twilight tried to make herself, Pinkie & Rainbow into a single pony: An alicorn. It failed, scarring Rainbow and killing Pinkie.

Regardless, I feel like we're getting close to a point where it might go beyond just a simple debate. So continue it in PM's if you must, please.

For the record, I was speaking of the only member of Moon and Star who is an actual alicorn, not the failed experiments of your archmage. You didn't really think that Cadence started off an alicorn, do you?

On a completely unrelated note, Torrential is about to flew his divine muscles and show the world why attacking an alicorn is a bad idea.

Canonically speaking, we have no evidence to support that idea, also you're coming across a little aggressive Bright, might wanna cool down a bit.

Also Scalpel has no loyalty to Moon and Star, so its not his Archmage.

I guess this is a good time to ask, but how are we handling Princess Candance's origins?

The argument could be made that her ascending would be the kind of event that would catch the attention of almost all alicorns since that sort of thing is kind of a big deal.

All ponies carry within them a potential Alicorn. It was Harmony's gift to Ponykind. Any pony can become an Alicorn (although only a ~7th tier, so significantly weaker than 4th tier (our guys)). Cadence is one such Alicorn, having ascended on her own because she learned and understood true Harmony.

What also makes them weaker is that they are tied to a single sphere of influence. Now heres a question folks how ya gonna handle Chrysalis. After all she did take down Celestia (if you ignor the fact the bug was a complete dumb dumb in the end) so that proves there are more powerful things out there than an alicorn. So I present a challenge make something stronger than an alicorn.

Well, we have Faust, who is the only one - I think- who can make something from nothing and is the primordial creator the universe, that'll do. A lower level one might be Tirek.

Frankly the gods here have had a power upgrade compared to their canon counterparts.

I always viewed that fight in the context that Celestia was holding back due to all the innocent ponies that were around them while the fight was taking place. Roasting her loyal and loving ponies by accident seems like the kind of thing that would haunt her.

Hmmm true you make a valid point. Then what about when the citizens were running around scared for their lives. Think about it at that point all was pretty much lost so why would Celestia still hold back when she saw her subjects being terroized. You'd think she would have brought the Sun's Wrath -que fist shake- down on the bugs.

Story Note: With time and retelling, some stories end up changing enough from the original. Sailors often tell of how The Sea Lord (very likely the mythologized Crashing) created the sea ponies from the foamy waters. Of course, the reality is different - Crashing just blessed those ponies who would be the ancestors of the Seafolk.
