Background: Maribelle Dufont of the Dufont family of Merchants, Brokers, and Dubious Banking was raised on the many roads across Tamriel with her father who taught her as much of the trade as he could. The inevitable fire of youth to cast all elder teachings to the side and cut their own path, literally, soon took hold of her as early as the age of thirteen. For five years she trained under the tutelage of a Redguard fencing school; an expense her father regretfully agreed to. Upon emerging from the school with the ability to pretty much join any army she wanted, Maribelle did the opposite and chose the life of a Knight-errant. If a Knight-errant worked for money and used their sword against whomever you had a problem with.
She worked for a year under the direction of Al Zinibar, retrieving owed protection money from local merchants among other nefarious activities. She would have kept doing this too, if not for a chance job that turned disasterous. Sent out to retrieve the ransom money that would return a local nobles kidnapped daughter, she instead found herself thrown into prison. After a series of favors owed to her father resulted in her own return, Al Zinibar sent word that if she were to stay in Dragonstar, he would require her left hand for failing him. Maribelle never returned.
Not long after she attempted to clean up her act in Highrock. She worked against bandits and other cutthroats on behalf of Lords and local peasantries. Eventually she just did it for the gold and other trinkets they tended to horde. Even later, she eventually stopped caring whether or not her acts were for the good of anyone. She met many good fencers there, though none so professional as she had met in Hammerfell.
During the rest of the next year, she made many enemies and friends and the undying lust of at least one Lich. Among the few things she learned were that drinking to forget the memory of Lich obsession then dueling were out of the question and that Orcs were selfless lovers.
Due to recent events, Maribelle has found herself a large amount of stolen septims and has gone on to buy as much booze in Falkreath as she can put down. Which was a lot and like many economic upturns received by the young and foolish, she's found herself in a cell for acts of debauchery.
