Are the Boers unified in this game or is it the Republic the Orange Free State and the South African Republic? If not I just might play one of the Boer states and unify the Afrikaans!

On 29 March 1809, having been taken over by the armies of Alexander I of Russia in the Finnish War, Finland became an autonomous Grand Duchy in the Russian Empire until the end of 1917. In 1811 Alexander I incorporated Russian Vyborg province into the Grand Duchy of Finland. During the Russian era, the Finnish language began to gain recognition. From the 1860s onwards, a strong Finnish nationalist movement known as the Fennoman movement grew.


Finland could become independent and I could take it..

OR THE PAPAL STATES. And I'm not entirely sure how it functions, but I bet you could still play as Denmark within the SC.

Also, if you want to play a European country but don't like the options (I do indeed plan on taking the mighty Port of Ugal), exploit the loophole in Rule 6

Also, I actually did consider giving Southern Ireland to the rebels if they causes too much trouble, so that could have been something; but I honestly suggest something like Uraguay or Paraguay. Or if you're looking to the east...Portugal, Papal States? Maybe Muslim nations?

Not really. If you give them the independence they want, the trouble stops. And if they, as a new country, try to be hostile towards the UR, the UR can easily put them down or blockade the life out of them. That said, I'd give Ireland a try :P
