Well you could have kept some of it...the white rose was really a bit much, the black rose was alright, and I think the mist part might have been alright, though of course they would both need limitations

As you're a student, just arrive. The two optional classes are the Elite Combat class, run by Ornstein, and the Survival Class, run by James. You might want to decide whether to join either.

Elite Combat class is for people who want to learn to fight better. It's run by Ornstein, who is also known as the Dragon Knight, one of Gwynn's four Knights. He's very dangerous, and a very skilled fighter. Not much of a talker. Take this if your character is great at melee combat.

Survival Classes are basically an extra challenge. It's run by an undead named James, who has a reputation for eating the students who fail his tests. It has a low survival rate, but the people who DO survive, usually live to a long, ripe age.
