So I'm not sure when I'll be able to return, but I just felt the need to explain my absence seeing how it's been eating at me and probably tripping some things up on all your ends.

What exactly is the rule on alicorn/mortal pony relations as far as offspring are concerned?

Can alicorns have children with mortal ponies and if so, are these children demi god like beings?

Considering that Theá has (most likely) attempted it more than a few times, I would say that an offspring between mortal and immortal is impossible. Granted, it may just be that the chance of success is infinitely small.

Since alicorns are somewhat based on the idea of greek gods, I don't really see a reason why they couldn't have children with each other or mortals. It was the kind of thing that happened all the time. The thing about demi gods is that despite having divine blood in them (And no doubt having some neat tricks to go with it) they are still mortal and thus grow old and die sooner or later. Add on that the abilities tend to get passed on by the bloodline (Even if they might grow weaker with each successive generation) and its quite possible for Thea to have a X to the power of Great grandchild around somewhere.

Now that I think about it, there is a cannon precedent for this theory in the form of the ex Prince Blueblood, Nephew of Princess Celestia. Considering how many years it has been since an alicorn other than Luna and Celestia has been to the mortal plane and working under the assumption that the benefits of divine blood start to wane over successive generations, it is completely possible that Prince Blueblood was an arrogantly proud descendant of one of our characters from a coupling hundreds, if not thousands of years ago.

To quote the grand Faust herself:

Lauren Faust stated that Celestia's nephew had no name in the show (before The Best Night Ever aired), and that he's the "great great great great great great great great great great great (and probably even more greats) nephew on Celestia's and Luna's mother's side, about 52 times removed, roughly speaking." You have a point... It might even be an explanation for some of the more powerful and well known characters in the history. Clover the Clever, Star Swirl... those kinds of ponies. I don't know what Dawn would say, but I'd say Headcanon accepted.

The question remains as to who Blueblood's distant grandparent was. Since Faust said that Blueblood was also Luna's nephew, the arrogant noble isn't the result of Luna and Crashing's union.

It's possible that Blueblood was a descendant of Torrential since over 52 generations and the intermingling of the three pony tribes it isn't a surprise that a unicorn was born into the bloodline. It's such a same that Blueblood is already dead, since their mutual hatred of the horned pig would have been a wonderful bonding experience for Torrential and his grand daughter in law Rarity.

Anyone else want to try and lay claim to Blueblood?

Nah if Crashing has any offspring they wouldn't be pansies like that sod. Hi by the by not dead just lots of work. Let me tell you going to college and handling a job with twelve hour shifts is a Nightmare.

*waves happily* Hi, also not dead. I'm been really busy packing up my stuff. Moving in the next week for grad school, so I haven't been on in quite a bit. Not dead, still in this puppy. Just advancing with the next part of my education.
