Previous Occupation: Cardiothoracic surgeon/Combat Medic
Appearance: Bio: Grew up in a poor family as a lone child in a small town in Kansas. His parents urged him to learn medicine and become a doctor. He never really liked the medicine studies, but he was exceptionally good at it, so he stuck to it. He did very well, and by the age of 25 he was already employed as a cardiothoracic surgeon at the local hospital. During the great war leading up to the apocalypse he was drafted to the army together with a few other doctors from the hospital where he worked. He went through many battles, and lost many friends to the war.
He served his country patriotically for about 3 years, until one day he heard screams coming from a tent at the far edge of his units campsite. He ran to the tent, getting his first aid kit ready, but instead found a horrible sight. Two fellow soldiers were torturing a captive. They were using the worst kinds of torture imaginable. After seeing that, he went to the general in charge and complained. The general listened to Jason's words, and after a few moments of silence he said: "Jason Whitmore. You are hereby discharged from the U.S. military. You must return to your home, while all of your benefits as a veteran shall be discarded. Go."
Needless to say, Jason was shocked. He used to believe in his army, and his beliefs were crushed. He returned home where he continued to work at the hospitlal. He met a good-looking nurse named Ashley and fell in love with her. Things went well with her, and a year after his return from the front lines she moved in with him. For a year or two they lived this way, until the apocalypse broke out. It was really crazy. In the beginning Jason didn't believe it. Zombies are only in TV shows!
One day he was taking a walk with Ashley, when suddenly he heard screams coming from up ahead. He looked up and saw a large group of people running in their direction. As a doctor he felt the need to run against the flow. There might be people in need of medical care! He ran forward, Ashley following in his footsteps. Suddenly Ashley screamed from behind him. A "walker" as they wee calling them in the news was holding Ashley. It all seemed to happen in slow-motion. He watched helplessly as the walker tore Ashley throat out with its teeth. The walker let her fall, and turned toward Jason. But Jason didn't move. He was paralyzed. Suddenly a shot rang out, and the walker fell dead. Jason fainted.
When Jason awakened, he could see it the sun was just rising. He was in a small room, and he was feeling quite hungry. He looked around for Ashley, thinking all of what happened was only a dream. He exited the room, and found himself in a large room with a bunch of people sitting around a small wooden table.
Two years laterJason has already gotten over Ashley's death. After all the death he had witnessed in the war before the outbreak, and during the outbreak itself, he had already gotten used to it. His medical experience was very useful. Life was not too bad. He was living with a group of survivors in the same farm he had woken up in 2 years earlier. But now some of the survivors were wanting to travel to Canada where there was apparently a colony of survivors. Jason preferred to stay, but he had learned during the outbreak that the strength is in the numbers, and most of the survivors decided to go north. Jason packed the few items he had, and got ready to set out on the journey north.
