When are we having that Africa conference by the way?

Probably 1870. Depends on when I finally turn Kongo from vassal to colony, but I'm pushing for the Kongoese to want that this year. Who knows. Maybe they'll rebel against their own king in favor of me (assuming my luck as CSA transfers over; I am still kind of an underdog country).

That probably shouldn't happen for a bit, I think. Didn't Bismarck have to pull off some major trickery to fool the southern German states into thinking they had to unify against France? If I remember correctly, the southern German states were very reluctant to unify.

He did, however, having the French as an ally rather than an enemy makes it easier. They can assent and retain autonomy, or resist and I crush them. No one will help them.

Actually... that is a major point. Bismarck used tensions with France to convince the southern states to join the rest of the Prussian-dominated states. He used some trickery to provoke a French attack (and it worked, since the French declared war and suddenly the France-Prussian war happened). Without France as a big-scary-bad-guy, it's going to be difficult to convince the southern states to unify.

I don't want to be a cock-block - and it's probably not even in my interests so I probably won't do anything about it, in terms of military action - but whatever happened to the treaty that called for peaceful relations with German states? Unless you pull some more trickery to justify forceful annexation, it's not going to look very peaceful when Prussia steamrolls the countries it (and Austria) swore to protect.

Treaty of Rotterdam. Article II. You signed it.

Article II. All signatories shall endeavour to support Prussia's efforts towards the unification of the German nation.

I thought that said UR. I guess we have some contradicting treaties then....

EDIT: Well.. contradicting if the unification is done by force, at least.

Pasta you need to write up a formal purchase of my Indian colonies and get it approved by me and Outcast. I would, but I'm confined to my phone for these next few days.

@Pasta: Nah, you're right. It says 'all signatories'. In which case it'll only be contradicting to our (So Boerd and I's) other treaty if the unification is done through war.
