Yup, you heard it fellas! We are going at it again with the tails and the point ears, this time in a more familiar setting to most people in the RPG; the apocalypse. THIS one, though, will try to be unique ((I hope ;_;)) compared to some of the predecessors.

Where to start? Well.. As you know it's anthro optional, and my friend was awesome enough to help me out with a few things such as the explanation behind the anthromorphic animals. They are not mandatory! You can be human if you wish! But enough of that, lets take it to the next step of explanation.

We all know the big games like Fallout and Metro 2033, and I've been playing them again recently.. That's where I got the idea to make this RP, with a heavy metro 2033 influence. You do not need to know the game itself so do not worry! I am more than happy to explain some things along the way. KEEP in mind we will not follow the games word for word, and you, the rper, will have a say in what goes down!

So ladies and gentlemen! Its time to go back to Washington DC.. Don't forget your gas masks!

Here's the opening scene for metro 2033 for those who are interested in the game idea:

I've thought about not making the entire surface require a gas mask in order to be traveled on, though.. Just a lot of hot spots here and there that have great risks along with ((maybe)) great rewards. What do you guys think?

I thought we were running with society living in the DC metro but starting to colonize the surface?

Oh wait, I just read it again. Yeah, I can definitely live without having to wear a gas mask all the time when on the surface. Having post-apocalyptic society just starting to crawl out of the metro instead of being confined there because the surface is unbreathable floats my boat better.

Sounds to me like this Fallout/Metro combo might also end up feeling a bit like STALKER as well. Sounds to me like only certain areas are going to be hazardous, like the heavily irradiated areas in Fallout 3 and the anomalies of STALKER.

I could think of a few twists to add to the equation, but its your thread.
Interested in an arthruo (if I spelled it right, its my first time) thread, wince it would be my first.

It may also be important to think of how the apocalypse came to be, and how long it's been since then. Was it a nuclear war? Was it a cataclysm brought about by a massive scientific disaster? Has it only been days or weeks since the apocalypse, and only now have we gotten the courage to go up and see what the surface looks like now? Has it only been months or years, and some people decided to stay in the Metro system while others went up to the surface to pursue their own interests, either as lawbringers or raiders, or just simple loners, nomads, scavengers, or part of any communities that rose up on the surface after the apocalypse? Has it been decades, if not centuries since the apocalypse, and everyone's been confined to the metro because the surface was still too hazardous, and only now has the air outside become breathable?

I was thinking while most of the population kept underground, some ventured to the surface to try and challenge the dangers in order to find a new home. With that comes factions ((You know, the Nazis, the communists, etc.)) and they eventually [[like in ze lore]] begin to wage combat against eachother. I was thinking of having a faction that was pretty much The Order in the metro plot, but instead of calling them Rangers we can be more 'murican and call them Marshals XD.

Nuclear war might be the best way to pop this RP off, it leaves a lot of stuff behind that could be used for.. 'spiritual' moments. This would probably be 10 years after the destruction of the world, so to have a more diverse age base.

I am off to work, I hope that answered a few inquiries out there!

Ranger fits better if you want my opinion. Marshal sounds like a commander of a whole army rather than a group of post-apocalyptic rangers.

What you could probably do with the Nazis is make them a bunch of ragtag neo-Nazi anarchist punks and raiders rather than fully trying to emulate the Third Reich like in the Metro games. And perhaps a communistic faction would be more of a faction within one of the larger factions. Perhaps some revolutionary Lenin wannabes are trying to stir up trouble in one of the more populated settlements.

I'd imagine the big factions would take most of their inspiration from pre-apocalypse DC area politics. Mostly the Republicans and Democrats. Maybe throw in some Westboro Baptist Church types, some Objectivists, and some really fucked up cults in there for good measure as well. Your only limit here is your imagination.

I may be interested.

I like making foreigners.

I have a couple characters in mind, one from Iraq, one from Russia.

Maybe you could use one of the Middle Eastern terrorist groups as part of this whole nuke war as well. Would hit closer to home to what we are dealing with in our current times.

Into it, Fallout is one of my favourite games and post-apocalyptic stuff is always interesting so count me in.

I was thinking Marshals like from the wild west. If people prefer Ranger then we shall have Ranger! =D While we can add more groups I can try my best to control them, but they'll be Rped only when they appear near a roleplayer.

This is the culture melting pot known as America so I have no issues with any kind of char. Sure there would be terrorist cells. Heck, according to the lore it was the middle east that started the nuclear fire.

Thanks soo much for considering this Rp, guys. I'll try my best to mix everything together and not let you all down.. I WILL WARN EVERYONE I WILL BE GONE NEXT WEEKEND, but I can probably set up an OOC before that time comes!

Good to hear. Keep in mind those who are joining have an influence in the RP. Don't be afraid to put in suggestions!

I want to see what Union Station would look like. Would have been a perfect location in Fallout 3.

I haven't played Metro 2033 (though I do mean to!), but I have played Fallout 3 & New Vegas, and I am generally familiar with many different post-apocalyptic settings and scenarios. That in mind, what kind of way is this going to go? Is it going to be 'several hundred years' after a war, or was the war only a few short years ago, or even ending only recently? Is it going to be rad-mutants and zombies, or more marauding gangs, or somewhere in between?
Just wondering out of curiosity :)
