The Story

Not far from Kalos, there is a small region by the name of Arkadia, very different from the other regions of the Pokemon World. While other places have focussed on the rapidly advancing technology, Arkadia prefers the simple life, a life where Man is one with nature, one with Pokemon. They use natural medicines instead of potions and antidotes, they have no Pokedex but instead keep track of the varying species of Pokemon through books and writing, and instead of using Pokeballs to capture Pokemon, they form friendships with them naturally and expect Pokemon to stay by their side out of loyalty and friendship, not the sense of duty that Pokeballs enforce.

At the centre of this region's philosophy is the Temple of Yggdrasil, dedicated to three Pokemon Xerneas, Yvelta and Zygarde, who represent the cycle of life through to death, and are believed to be embodiments of a greater entity known as Yggdrasil, a giant tree that not only holds the balance of their world but also thousands of others. That's right: the people of Arkadia believe in alternative dimensions and realities, very different from each other but similar in other ways, and it is Yggdrasil which connects them all. In the Temple, there is a statue of a tree that is meant to represent Yggdrasil, though it no more than simple model. However, at the centre of this statue is something far more precious, a large green jewel known as the Heart Of Zygarde. No one knows where it came from, but it is believed that it is connected to the legendary Pokemon Zygarde, who imposes order upon all realities. Therefore, the Heart is kept safe within the temple to ensure that reality will continue on smoothly.

However, one night, when all at the temple are asleep, a thief sneaks into the temple, steals the Heart and runs off with it. In his haste, he wakes up a few guards who chase after him. They chase him from the temple and into the forests that surround it. They chase him for a long time until he is cornered at the edge of cliff. Feeling trapped and full of spite, the thief decides that if they're going to catch him anyway, he might as well claim victory in another way and he drops the Heart of Zygarde off the cliff. When it hits the grounds it smashes into many pieces. The thief thinks he has claimed victory over his captors, but he doesn't realise that what he has done spells disaster for all the worlds. It is that point that reality slowly starts break apart and the thief is sucked into a vortex, a hole in reality, which sends him from his own world into another. And as he is transported, his own physical forms starts to change as he transforms from a man into a Pokemon...

Meanwhile, in another reality, a world inhabited completely by Pokemon, where humans are but the stuff of legends, many unusual natural phenomena have been occurring. Natural disasters such as tornadoes and earthquakes have been happening, causing pain for many. Some Pokemon have slowly been getting more and more violent and feral, attacking others for no apparent reason. Weirdest of all have been the appearance of Mystery Dungeons, strange areas which don't seem to work by the normal laws of nature. These are all effects caused by the Heart of Zygarde's destruction and the break down of order in all realities, but the Pokemon there don't know this yet. However, while they don't know what the cause of these disasters are, they are aware that something amiss. So, in order to combat this crisis, a young Braixen by the name of Willow (one of my characters) has taken it upon herself to create the Adventurer's Guild which is dedicated to helping Pokemon in need during these dark times. Their long term goal is to find out the cause of this disaster, but for now they are simply trying to help Pokemon on a case-by-case basis.
How This Roleplay Will Work

Your character - or at least one of them as you will be allowed to play multiple characters, but we'll get to that later - will be a Pokemon who has volunteered to join the Adventurer's Guild. Unlike in other Mystery Dungeon games, you will be not split into your own teams. This guild is not like Wigglytuff's Guild. Wigglytuff's Guild was a guild that had been running for a very long time, formed by experienced explorers. The Adventurer's Guild is not this at all. The "Guildmaster", Willow, is not super powerful nor experienced, she's a young and naive Pokemon who wants to do the right thing but actually has no idea what she is doing. The guild itself is also fairly new so it will have few members to begin with, all who are either well-meaning but unexperienced Pokemon or adventurers who have only gone solo up until now.

To begin with, the guild members will instead function as a single team, with Willow and her recruits heading out to various Mystery Dungeons depending on what jobs they get and they'll only be able to deal with one job at time. As more and more members join, Willow will be able to send multiple groups out to deal with jobs, but they won't be set teams, they'll just be groups formed of whoever wants to do a particular job the most, plus which characters would be best suited to said job. Willow herself will be a surprisingly active Guildmaster and will often go on jobs herself along with other Pokemon.

As well as playing heroic characters, I also expect some people to play villain characters or townsfolk NPCs. I myself will be playing Willow, multiple shopkeepers, and also the mysterious thief who has ended up in this world in Pokemon form. (That thief, by the way, is going to be a reoccurring villain.)

On the subject of human-turned-Pokemon character, I was originally planning it so the Thief would be the only human-turned-Pokemon character. However, due to someone else's character's backstory, I've decided to modify this. After all, since alternate dimensions are a big part of this roleplay, I will be allowing them, as well as Pokemon who have travelled from another universe into this one... though please keep it in moderation.
World Info

In the same way that Rescue Team, Explorers and Gates To Infinity are set in their own universes, Tree Of The Cosmos has its own world. This following section is about Sunny Town (TotC's equivalent of Treasure Town and Post Town) and the NPCs that live there, and also will have the list Mystery Dungeons, which will be updated as the story goes along. It will also contain a section about the building where the Adventurer's Guild is based, which is slightly north of Sunny Town.

Adventurer's Guild
The building where the Guild is based in a very large treehouse which actually an old library owned by Willow's mother, Constance, which contains a lot of various information about different legends in the Pokemon world and the history behind it. Constance herself passed away a couple of years back, leaving the library to Willow. It still... looks a lot like a library, filled with many books which Willow is still looking for a place for. There are quite a few rooms in the treehouse, one being Willow's own room, another being Constance's room (which no one is allowed in), a kitchen, and large empty hall which will be where Willow will assemble everyone for important meetings, and several guest rooms where various members of the guild will be sleeping.

Yes, it's very messy in there and not at all professional. Willow is hoping to later upgrade it to an actual Guild building if the Guild becomes successful.

Sunny Town
Sunny Town is a small town filled with various shops, facilities, as well as the houses of the various townsfolk. A lot of the Pokemon who live here are fire types, interestingly, though there are Pokemon of other types here as well.

The town's mayor is Camerupt, a very slow and elderly Pokemon who lives in the a small rocky building in the centre of town. He's a good sort but doesn't seem to really know what's going on half the time due to the fact he hasn't got very good hearing. He's more like a figure-head of the town rather than the actual leader.

No, the real figure of authority in Sunny Town is Sergeant Arcanine who runs the local police. He's an aggressive Pokemon, very loud and opinionated and he doesn't suffer fools lightly. All the Pokemon who work under him are Growlithes. He is strongly opposed against the Adventurer's Guild, feeling that the work they are trying to conduct should be left to the Police, not some "inexperienced thrill-seekers". Expect him to interfere a lot, but he's not a bad sort. He genuinely has the town's best interests at heart.

Next, we have the sly Meowth who runs the Meowth Market. She sells various items such as special orbs, seeds, berries and the occasional gummy. You can't buy TMs here, that is going to be separate character who not be available at the beginning.

Then, there's Murkrow Bank, run by a very haughty and antisocial Murkrow. He doesn't talk much, coming off as quite rude, but he'll agree to store not only your money (Poke) here, but also your items.

There's also the Kangaskhan Orphanage... this is weird little addition. Mrs. Kangaskhan runs the local orphanage where young Pokemon who have either lost their parents or been abandoned live. She does this in order to make up for the fact that she lost her own child long ago, though you wouldn't know this as she is genuinely quite upbeat and cheerful, treating each child she cares for as if it were own. If you ever receive a Pokemon egg as a reward for a job, you can give it to Kangaskan to look after until it has hatched. Afterwards, you can decide whether you want Kangaskan to keep said hatchling or if you want to take it on as your own. We'll cover this later when it comes up.

Finally, we have Cafe Magmar, a restaurant run by Magmar and Magby. Here, they sell delicious food, which you can eat fairly cheap. This place is where you'll often get to sit back and talk with other townsfolk and where you can at times hear some interesting rumours.

And that's it for the starting shops. More will be added later...

Mystery Dungeons
The current Dungeons available are...

Mushroom Forest - A small forest, luscious, green, and filled with variety of species of mushrooms, some poisonousness and some benign. It home mostly to weak grass and poison Pokemon, particularly ones that resemble mushrooms like Paras, Shroomish and Foongus, as the forest provides them with plenty of camouflage.

Echo Cave - A dark cave. The silence that fills it is only broken by the gentle drip, drop of water that falls from the ceiling... and the occasional fluttering of wings. It is inhabited by bat-like Pokemon, mostly Zubat and Woobat, but occasionally Noibat too. Also, on lower floors, you're likely to encounter a few water-type Pokemon.

Breezy Plains - Open plains and hills, home to many bird-like Flying-types, with the occasional Grass-type and Normal-type as well.

More to be added...

Brief History:
My character
Name: Willowisp (Willow, for short)

Gender: Female

Species: Braixen

Ability: Blaze

Starting Level: 19

Starting Moveset: Ember, Psybeam, Howl, Flame Charge

Personality: Willow is the last person you would put in charge of something like the Adventurer's Guild. Her good intentions are one thing, but she lacks the qualities of a true leader, the most notable one being confidence in herself. She tries to hide this by putting on a strong front but it comes off more as bossy than authoritative, ordering people about and trying to make her opinions heard. In truth, she's more comfortable as a researcher, as it runs in her blood. She can easily find information and memorise it, keeping it in her mind indefinitely. She's much better with books than she is with other Pokemon, and will often excuse herself to go off and read when she's becoming particularly frustrated with others, which is often. She rarely means to offend anyone but she's so unused to social situations that she can comes of blunt and brutal with her honesty. Still, she's determined that her Adventurer's Guild will become a success, and that stubbornness may end up carrying her long way... as long as others have the patience to put up with it.

Brief History: Willow grew up in a family researchers, both her mother Constance and her father Todd being interested in the lore, history and mythology of their world. Her father in particular was interest in the elusive Volcanion, and he searched all other for the mythical Pokemon. One day, when Willow was still very young, Todd got a lead about where Volcanion may be lurking and went out on a search... only to never return. Willow was too young to really understand what was going on but her mother Constance became very quiet and subdued after that, becoming less of a motherly figure to her daughter and more of an overly critical teacher, trying to get Willow to carry on the family interest in myths and legends. Constance's pressure caused Willow to grow up without really experiencing the carefree nature a child is suppose to have, which probably has a lot to do with Willow's stuffiness, lack of confidence and inability to really understand people. As years went by and Willow grew up, eventually evolving into a Braixen, Constance eventually got older and older, weaker and weaker, before eventually dying of old age, plus probably not having much will to go on. Willow's desire to start the Adventurer's Guild started soon after that, though she only really got motivated of recent with all these natural disasters. It probably is because, deep down, Willow is very lonely, and her building the guild is her way to move on from her past and achieve something new, something productive.

Name: Monado
Gender: Male
Species: Honedge
Ability: No Guard
Starting Level: 19
Starting Moveset: Shadow Sneak, Fury Cutter, Pursuit, Autotomize
Personality: Monado is very outgoing...desperately so. While he really wants friends, he's kind of socially awkward. However, his eagerness to socialize covers this up. While he might not always know how to behave in social situations, he outgoing personality makes him come across as more hyper then anything else
Brief History: Monado never knew his birth parents, having spent his entire life (if you consider hatching from you egg the start of your life) in an orphanage. Being both the only Ghost and Steel type, he found himself the target of bulling. The orphanage caretakers never seemed to notice or care about how the other children were treating him. The only thing that kept him from falling into a dark pit of despair were the story books. In them, he could watch brave and noble hero fighting against foul villains. Manado dreamed of one day becoming a hero like the ones in his stories and, in his loneliness, finding a partner to wield him into battle. One day, after he had saved up enough food, he escaped from the orphanage to head to the next city, someplace where no one knew him and he could get a fresh start; Sunny Town

Name: Ame
Gender: Male
Species: Frogadier
Ability: Torrent
Starting Level: 20
Starting Moveset: Toxic Spikes, Bubble, Water Pulse, Smokescreen
Personality: While he's perfectly at home in a fight, Ame finds himself lost in social situations. Because of the silence required by his fighting style, he doesn't talk any more then absolutely necessary in a fight. While he's quite outside of fights as well, this is for a different reason; he's shy. Not knowing how or what to say to people who he's not fighting makes him socially awkward
Brief History: Ame was raised in a hidden village of Pokemon who practiced an art known a Ninjutsu. Ninjutsu is a style of fighting the emphasis speed and stealth over raw force or an iron defense. As a young Froakie, Ame far exceeded his teachers expectations, proving to be a natural in the art of Ninjutsu. While he was advancing far in his training, his parents and teachers noticed that he was completely helpless in social situations. Before they could fix that however, the village was attacked by a strange Lucario. While he wanted to fight in defense of his home his father ordered him to flee. Unable to disobey his father, Ame fled to a nearby concealed cave. After a few days of waiting with no one coming for him, he decided to check on his home. To his utter shock, he found that his village had completely vanished. It wasn't simply destroyed; there wasn't any sign that it had ever been then at all. No buildings (wrecked or intact) or any bodies were around. Feeling lost and alone, Ame traveled to the nearby Sunny Town, hoping to get some kind of answers

Also, you said that a CS for a villain doesn't need to be as complete as a guild member. Could you elaborate on that please?

You don't need to make a CS for a villain if you don't want to. I'm not making a CS for my own villain - at least not at this point - simply because I don't want to spoil anything about him. This is keep a little bit more mysterious, especially is someone wanted to introduce a villainous character who didn't seem like a villain at first (similar to Drowzee from Explorers). After all, enemies are more dangerous when you know less about them.

Name: Tina
Gender: Female
Species: Sylveon
Ability: Cute Charm
Starting Level: 12
Starting Moveset: Tackle, Helping Hand, Sand Attack, Fairy Wind

Personality: Tina tends to be the last one to laugh at a joke, and the first one to forget vital information. In short, she's very much a klutz. Often getting lost or separated from a group because she was distracted by something cute, she nevertheless always tries to work hard to help her fellow guild members. Fortunately, to offset her extreme clumsiness, she has quite a bit of good luck, often noticing things that others miss or finding hidden switches and treasures - if only because she tripped over them on the way in. Tina likes sweets, and absolutely adores cute things, to the point that she will often completely lose awareness of her surroundings if she finds one. When things get dangerous, however, Tina can hone in on the situation and do what needs to be done to get her friends out safely. She has an unwavering sense of kindness and honesty.

Brief History: Tina was born a regular Eevee in a family of four, herself being the youngest of two siblings. Even as a child, she had a great curiosity about the world around her, and would often go exploring in the area around her hometown... and would almost just as often end up getting lost. To her good fortune, however, it was during one of her attempts to find her way home that she met her friend Zayn, a Charmander, who happened to live nearby. He helped her find her way home, and ever since, she would go to visit him on an almost daily basis. The two became fast friends, and as they grew older, they helped each other to evolve. See, after many years of playing and exploring together, Tina one day found that she had developed certain feelings toward Zayn, and it was these feelings that allowed her to become the lovely Sylveon that she is today. However, three days after her evolution, a terrible earthquake struck her forest home. Her family was safe, but Zayn - now a Charmeleon - suddenly disappeared, leaving no trace of where he had gone off to.

Tina was heartbroken. However, she refused to sit by and let Zayn be lost to her. The next day, she packed her bag, said goodbye to her family, and set off into the surrounding forest to try to look for Zayn. Naturally, she was completely lost by the end of the day. Even so, Tina refused to give up, and after a time of wandering, she eventually found her way to Sunny Town. Currently, she is staying there while trying to figure out where she should go next. One thing's for certain, however: she'll never give up searching for the Pokemon she loves.

AnonymousMustache, your character is accepted. I like idea of slightly clutzy character XD Just a note though, and this goes for everyone, when the RP starts, none of the characters will have met at that point and the Adventurer's Guild won't have formed. Willow will have put up some advertisements about the Guild but no one would have answered them yet, and she'll be waiting at the 'Guild' for people to arrive, though she's slowly losing hope at this point... you'll see what I mean once I put up the IC post, though I'm not sure if I should wait for 1Charak2 to finish their character sheet before then.

Name: Isra
Gender: Female
Species: Pancham
Ability: Iron Fist
Starting Level: 15
Starting Moveset: Comet Punch, Arm Thrust, Leer, Quick Guard
Attire: Isra is known for wearing a large black cloth jingasa and a formerly white, now grey poncho with a blue moon symbol on the back.
Personality: Isra is one of those independent females who seems to never even notice gender is a thing, not to prove anything but simply because of how Isra is. Easily described by many who know her as the girl who kept up with the boys. She was known as something of a defender amongst her youth group, Isra was the one who stood up for the minority not only with her voice but with her fists. Isra easily handled herself in these childish skirmishes proving to not only hold her own but bring more to the table than some could handle. She is an abrasive and rather aloof Pokemon who seems to find solace in loneliness, although only to some extent. Over the course of life, Isra has come to realize the purpose of life and how precious it can be. Isra feels her purpose in life is to defend the ones who have been beaten down too hard to defend themselves, if Isra could have a single wish it would be to be a martyr and die for a meaningful cause.
Brief History: During the short period that was her childhood Isra was part of a nomadic tribe, consisting of all different Pokemon types. Being the only clan of wandering Pokemon they were well known throughout the world but rarely seen, often others viewed them as uncivilized or barbaric but the clan was not bothered by such ignorance. They viewed Pokemon settlements as something of disruptions which would spring up in the center of nature and begin polluting or damaging the natural habitat around them. Although rather large for a nomadic group, the clan lacked sufficient power to protect themselves and often had to deal with attacks from bandits and although they often escaped unscathed, sometimes they did not. When Isra was out of her childhood but still too young to defend herself an infamous slaver tribe of wild poison Pokemon ambushed her clan. Isra was the only one who escaped being either put down or enslaved, with hopes to locate this slaver group and save everyone Isra now wanders searching for the power to do so.

Oh, one quick thing; Monado is going to be looking for a partner to wield him in battle (since I've seen so much fan art of the Honedge line being wielded that I really want to do that in an RP). If someone could volunteer their character to be his partner, then that would be great (I'd rather Ame not be his partner since that feels too much like RPing a Meister/Weapon team in a Soul Eater RP)

Just from the first paragraph of the story, I like it. Hope you're still open to new members.

Name: Lilith
Gender: Female
Species: Eevee
Ability: Adaptability, Anticipation
Starting Level: 10
Starting Moveset: Tackle, Helping Hand, Baby-Doll Eyes, Swift

Personality: Lilith tends to be fairly simple-minded and childish on most occasions but can have moments of clear and mature thinking under strained circumstances. Though still in adolescence, Lilith preforms well under pressure and enjoys facing challenges. She is not in any hurry to grow up, refusing to settle for an evolution on convenience. She enjoys her youth and knows it's fleeting, trying to maintain her own innocence for as long as she can manage; that is, hoping to train her current evolutionary form to the best of her ability before taking on a permanent, stronger form. When confronted by strangers for the first time, Lilith is cautious and tries to keep her guard up. However, once she's warmed up to someone she becomes more herself, rather quirky and energetic. Being young, however, leaves Lilith with various insecurities. When she feels she is unable to emotionally deal with her surroundings, she puts up a facade to keep up her cheerful attitude in front of others.

Brief History: Lilith was born into a family for the purpose of evolving and mastering the skills of a predetermined evolution. She was born in a life where being you were but a means to an end. She grew up in specialized in training and raising Pokemon for situational jobs. Her siblings were rented out to those who required the use of specialty type Pokemon for undisclosed purposes. They considered themselves Mercenaries, doing jobs others did not want their loved ones involved in. Lilith had a strong relationship with her mother and thought the world of her. The only trouble she ever got was from her siblings, ridiculing and teasing her for not evolving. Often times they would try to pressure her into becoming their evolutionary forms, claiming to be the best one of all. This, however, only intensified Lilith's desire to surpass them in an inferior form. Lilith was meant to evolve into an Umbreon, something her mother kept secret from her for quite some time. It wasn't until Lilith discovered this fact that she felt the need to break away from the family. She felt as though her life was mapped out for her, rather than being able to make her own life decisions. Leaving wasn't difficult--it wasn't a jail.
She left, leaving behind the only person she knew who cared for her as well as the siblings who helped her grow stronger. She went out into the world inexperienced and full or curiosity, wandering the region until she found herself somewhere new. She walked the land foraging and nesting whenever possible, training in solitude until the day she finds who and what she's meant to become.

Name: Russet
Gender: Male
Species: Furret
Ability: Keen Eye
Starting Level: 19
Starting Moveset: Thief, Quick Attack, Defense Curl, Dig
Personality: Russet is a simple Pokemon with a single-track mind, he often focuses too much on whatever task is on hand to the exclusion of everything else. He is not someone that has many ambitions, but he is a hard-working Pokemon nonetheless. Modest and friendly, it isn't very difficult to befriend him. He has the unfortunate tendency to blindly listen to anyone who has even the smallest amount of authority and stick to them with unwavering loyalty. Overall, Russet is not someone who'll sit down and think about the complexity of life; he sees no point in wasting time on things like that.
Brief History: Russet was born and raised on his family's farm, the second child out of six. Most of his childhood was spent on the farm, passed down from his father's generation, along with his mother, father, and his siblings. He tilled the fields, helped carry produce to the nearby town's marketplace, and took care of his younger siblings. Living with such a large family was great at times, horrible at others, but it taught Russet patience, cooperation, and understanding. He was brought up to eventually take care of the farm once his parents had moved on to "greater pastures", along with his siblings and, some day, pass it down to their own children. It was a simple life, but it was rewarding.

Unfortunately as the world grew dangerous, his family became unable to sustain itself on just farming; the roads became dangerous and the land lost its fertility. Russet had grown and evolved, becoming the second of his siblings to do so. It was decided among the family that someone would have to leave and earn the money that the family desperately needed. Russet and his sister, barely younger than him, volunteered to head out. After saying their farewells and gathering their bags, they both set out towards town in search for opportunities.

That was about five years ago, and since then things have gotten better. Russet's sister became a record keeper for the town near their family's farm, and Russet himself became a trustworthy courier, delivering packages and mail from town to town at great speeds. His job had taken him to many interesting locations, and he manages to bring some his earnings back to his family every month or so. As for the farm, it's gotten somewhat better. The plants became hardier and were able to withstand the changes in the land and guards patrol the roads, but the farm is a long way from fully recovering what it has lost, not to mention the recent string of unnatural events.

A delivery has taken him to Sunny Town, only a day's travel away from his family's farm. He has been considering leaving his job as a courier, if only so he could finally settle down somewhere nice.

Why does everyone's past have to be so tragic?

I mean, literally every single backstory so far has included at least one lost/missing loved one/family member. What's up with that?
Also could you please put that image behind a clickable link or a hider? I'm not the GM but it's really big and a bit distracting.

Why would you want to have a boring, basic character with no depth who had an easy life until they went and decided for no reason to join a guild. I'm not saying its a bad character or a bad idea, just not interesting, doesn't have a motive or purpose for doing things. What if the story of King Arthur started with his dad going "Hey Arthur, you're king now my dude. Here's a sword and a group of nice guys who will fight along side you and die if you ask. Oh and a crazy old wizard we found in the closet you can have he should make for a zany tale. Now you go off and have fun champ!" Feels just colorless and bland.

Hello, everyone, I'm back. For all those who have submitted their characters (and boy, I never expected so many people to be interested XD), you are all accepted. Of course, those who still have their characters as WIP we'll have to wait on them, but so far, I'm feeling even more positive on this than previously thanks to the group of diverse characters.

Also, to Rabbit Goddess, I have no problems with you adding a section to your CS for extra information.

does the guild have a aplication process like in mystery dungeon games XD

Pfft, considering how Willow is, no XD This is a brand new guild and Willow will have no idea how to run it, at least at first, so no real application process.

Also, I'd like everyone to note that yes, I am still accepting. In fact, I might keep accepting characters even after the RP begins. After all, I do plan for the guild to grow and be upgraded over time, and a steady flow of new characters will help that.
